DISNEY: KURT RUSSELL SET
Four great oldies Starring Kurt Russell and co-starring
some of the greats of Disney including:
Cesar Romero(Zorro), Joe Flynn(Son Of Flubber, The Love
Bug, Million Dollar Duck, Superdad), William Schallert(Zorro,
Elfego Baca), Dean Jones(That Darn Cat!, The Ugly Dachshund,
Monkeys Go Home, Blackbeard's Ghost, The Love Bug, The
Million Dollar Duck, Snowball Express, The Shaggy D.A., Herbie
Goes To Monte Carlo, Beethoven), Jim Backus(Pete's Dragon),
Phil Silvers(The Boatnicks)Dick Van Patton (Snowball Express,
Superdad, Gus, The Shaggy D.A., Freaky Friday[1976], 14 Going
On 30), Harrold Gould(Gus, Freaky Friday[2003], Brother Bear
[Voice])
THE HORSE IN THE GRAY FLANNEL SUIT(1968):
I don't believe I'd ever watched this one before
now(2020)! A much better movie than I expected,
with Dean Jones as the lead in this and a very
wonderful Ellen Janov as the actual owner of
the horse Aspercel! Sadly Ellen died in a fire
just a few years after this was shot! Anyway,
the basic story is about a girl who "loves"
horse riding and her father gets her a horse so
she can ride whenever she wants! But the real
reason was to help his company get some publicity!
Really just a romantic comedy, this is a lot
of fun! Perhaps because of the equestrian theme
this is maybe more enjoyable to me! And there's
even a dog named Herbie!! A+
A review from Amazon
Dean Jones has a typical '60s occupation: ad man.
Widower Fred Bolton is in need of a fantastic
campaign to promote the stomach pill Aspercel.
And in typical Disney get-a-kid-and-animal-in-there
fashion, he makes the contrived decision to accommodate
his sweet teen daughter Helen's longing for a horse,
and advance the elusive ad campaign. Fred figures
if he and Helen (Ellen Janov, in her only film role) can
make a champion of the horse (now named, you
guessed it, Aspercel), the name will get in the papers
and Helen will have her horse. Complications arise
when Helen reveals she hates riding in shows.
Fortunately, her riding teacher, the beautiful Suzie
Clemens (underrated Diane Baker), agrees to take
up the cause, and sparks a little romance with the
ambitious dad. The trio have a challenging competition
and Suzie's ex, the wealthy and conceited Archer
Madison (Lloyd Bochner, in a role he played often),
to deal with, but as with all Disney films, good and
earnest triumphs over smug and self-satisfied.
Look for a young Kurt Russell, who has little to do
but grace the movie (and Helen) with a little teen
idolness. His introduction into the film--driving a
red convertible MG--is hilarious. A sweet, easy-to-watch,
harmless--if a little forgettable--film. (Ages 4 and
older) --N.F. Mendoza

Some pretty good names in this: Kurt(of course),
Cesar Romero(Batman, It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad
World), Joe Flynn(McHale's Navy, several other
Disney movies), William Schalert(The Patty Duke
Show, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries[Patty's
father)], Star Trek TOS episode "The Trouble With
Tribbles"), Jon Provost(Lassie) , Pat Harrington
Jr.(One Day At A Time) & Ed Begley Jr.(St. Elswhere,
Battlestar Galactica[1978-9])!
As for the movie, it's a pretty typical Disney
family movie with some humor and a small amount
of suspense! This is based at Medfield College,
home of Flubber(The Absent Minded Professor, Son
Of Flubber!) Not the best of Disney, but still
worth one watch anyway! B
A review from Amazon
He's Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell), just a regular-guy
college student at Medfield College--until one fateful
night he is accidentally transformed into a human
computer. His newfound genius makes him an overnight
sensation when he gets all the answers right on a college
quiz show. This instant celebrity status also brings an
instant massive ego, which threatens his friendships
as well as his safety. Caught up between battling college
deans (Joe Flynn and Alan Hewitt) and a dangerous
mobster (Cesar Romero), Dexter soon learns friends
are more valuable than money. This movie, released
in 1970, is a true romp with silly situations and madcap
misadventures. The size of the computer itself is now
good for a sight gag. It's likable but goofy, with no real
weight. A fun, innocent diversion that the whole family
can look and laugh at, each for different reasons.

Island, It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, all things
Magoo!) & William Windom(Murder She Wrote, Star
Trek TOS episode "The Doomsday Machine")!
As for the story, pretty obvious really: Kurt
is still at Medfield(remember Flubber?) and
trying to create an invisibility serum! Welp,
it works! And there is much mayhem afterwords! B
A review from Amazon
A pleasant little comedy that the entire family can
enjoy. Not much violence or sex and absolutely no
swearing, makes this a movie that parents can watch
with their children. Mischevious college students develop
an invisibility formula that helps them to save their
cash strapped college. Merely one in a series of Kurt
Russell movies set at Medvale College. A pleasant
little series set in a wholesome America before terrorists,
when people valued integrity more than cash! - By A Customer

Russel, who's character is still at Medfield College,
this time invents a serum that gives him super strength!
Returning with Kurt is Cesar Romero, Joe Flynn & William
Schallert! And they pick up some new blood: Harold
Gould(The Sting), Phil Silvers(The Phil Silvers Show,
It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World), Eve Arden(The Mothers-
In-Law, Our Miss Brooks, Greese, Anatomy Of A Murder)
Dick Van Patton(Eight Is Enough, When Things Are Rotten,
The Shaggy D.A.), James Gregory(Barny Miller, Clambake,
Star Trek TOS episode "Dagger Of The Mind")! And of course
this culminates in a contest between Medfield and State!
This is the final film of Joe Flynn, who passed away
shortly before this was released! And also Kurt is
not in this hardly at all!! B
A review from Amazon
Once again Dexter Riley (a young Kurt Russell) and his
science lab pals astound and confound Medfield College's
head dean when their latest concoction might either save
the struggling institution from bankruptcy or get the
top-level staff fired. In this third of the four Medfield
films, Riley accidentally ingests a vitamin compound that
gives him superhuman strength, leading to sponsorship
by a cereal company and possible defeat of a rival university
in a weightlifting contest. Although today Medfield's team
would be disqualified for drug use, in this pre-steroid scandal
picture it's the scheming adults who are the bad guys. Thanks
to a Medfield Board of Directors traitor (an amusingly villainous
Dick Van Patten), the competing sponsor sends a couple of
bungling burglars (one played by Cesar Romero) to steal
the formula. Kidnapping, hypnosis, and a down-to-the-wire
weightlifting finale mark this 92-minute, G-rated film, which
is short on subtlety but long on wholesomeness. Kids as
young as 4 will enjoy the weightlifting and burglary antics,
but the school politics and corporate warfare subplots
will lose them temporarily. --Kimberly Heinrichs
