Just an aside here: there's a special on the ultimate DVD
Anyway, a great film to watch! A
From a reviewer at IMDb.com:
M. Night Shyamalan followed up "The Sixth Sense" with the
UNBREAKABLE(2000)
This is truly a great movie!! Bruce plays a dude who survives
a train wreck without a scratch! He's the only survivor, and
another dude(Sammuel Jackson) gets wind of this and starts
hounding Bruce, saying he's some sort of superhero! Jackson
himself is afflicted with a malady that he is super-fragil
and has lost himself into comics!
about comics, and one of the "guest specialists" is Michael
Chaen, who apparently really knows nothing of comics! In
his interview he says "If you look at Superman you see he
comes from this other world, Krypton, this world that exploded
and that he's come to America, He's taken on this very super
American kind of identity. I mean he clothed himself in
sorta partially in the colors of the flag. He's changed
his name from Kal-El, his Krytonian name, to this veery
arch-WASP name Clark Kent. You know he um he's re-defined
himself, re-invented himself on these shores." None of
these statements are ture!!! It was Jonathan and Martha
Kent that named Kal-El Clark. It was Martha that maade
the suit for Superboy! And it was Ma and Pa Kent who
didn't re-define/re-invent Kal-El, but define him!!
not-quite-as-great, but no less fascinating, "Unbreakable".
Bruce Willis plays Philadelphia security guard David Dunn,
who survives a train wreck that kills everyone else. After
this, he meets Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), who suffers
from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which causes his bones to break
very easily. Elijah is convinced that David is as strong as
the superheros in comic books. But what is there about either
of these men that remains to be discovered? As in his previous
movie, Shyamalan creates a bleak setting that may be about
to undergo a mind-shattering change. This one isn't as good
as "The Sixth Sense", but you will be shocked at the end
just the same. Watch for Shyamalan as the man whom David
investigates at the stadium. - lee_eisenberg
