3 DAYS TO KILL(2014):
This is really a convoluted movie! Just like watching
Mission Impossible, with only one dude instead of four
or five! Kevin Costner stars as a "retired" CIA agent
who is terminally ill! He meets up with a gal who
wants to pull him out of retirement for one last
job, and who says she has a trial drug that would
give him a longer life!
In the midst of all this he is trying to repair all
the years of his being absent from his daughter,
while pulling off these jobs!! A
From IMDb.com:
Enjoyed this film hugely. Kevin Costner as terminally
ill CIA agent Ethan is excellent (he is aging deliciously,
not unlike a fine wine), Hailee Steinfeld as his teenage
daughter Zooey has an Ellen Page toughness/vulnerability
that is very appealing, Amber Heard as CIA agent Vivi is
wacky, scary and sexy, and Connie Nielsen is spot on as
Ethan's estranged wife. I have read criticisms that the
film is not realistic. It's not meant to be realistic! If
anything, it's a send-up of the CIA agent genre, with
the comedy (and there's a lot of it) coming from Costner's
dual roles of hired killer/anxious father: the scenes in
which he grills two of the Baddies' employees -- a limo
driver (Marc Andreoni) and an accountant (Bruno
Ricci) -- are priceless. The Baddies (the Albino, the
Wolf), are also deliberately over-the-top, not "realistic".
The action scenes are satisfyingly punchy, the family
scenes are amusing and touching, and let's not forget
the humor and pathos of the scenes between Ethan
and the family of squatters in his Paris apartment
(beautifully acted by Eriq Ebouaney amongst others).
All in all, a highly entertaining film, thanks largely
to the screenplay (Luc Besson's touch is obvious) and
to the faultless acting. - Galina Eden

Pierce Brosnan is the November Man, a government
man who leaves behind a lot of bodies and has veins
cold as ice! He has decided to quit the business, but
he is needed for one more job! To recue a woman in
Russia who has been a confidant to the US!!
Turns out this woman has a past with Pierce, and
things get really tangled up quickly!! One of those
movies that you need to follow closely, for if you
miss anything, it could be really important later
on! This is kind of predictable but still a good
movie, well worth watching, especially if you
are a fan of Mr. Brosnan!! B+
From Amazon.com
The November man series of books are a
cracking read and I am glad they have made
the film.
Brosnan is Brosnan,"one bleak motherf*cker"
to quote the film.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a criticism, he
plays the part well, you can feel the hidden
emotion carefully controlled behind the
professional exterior and he does it well,
as always.
The story is good, flows well and Kurylenko
lights up the screen, however I felt that apart
from these two the other characters felt a little
lightweight, even Luke Braceys character (who
I am looking forward to seeing in Point Break)
only gave glimpses of 'why'.
Overall it is a good film, I would recommend
and I would watch again. - jiwilliams73
