8 ACTION COMEDIES COLLECTION
8 action movies with either a little, or a lot, of comedy!!
GOTCHA(1985):
Edwards plays a college kid who's really into paint ball
and gets caught up in real life espionage! Along the way
he gets involved with a beauty that is the one who
gets him involved in the real spy business! Shot during
the cold war, this still has East and West Berlin, which
they end up on the wrong side of the wall!!
Some very light humor throughout this, no real knee
slappers, but quite enjoyable! Very brief nudity in this!
With actual locations in Paris and Berlin, this movie
is much better than one might expect!! A-
A review from IMDb:
This movie is a real 80,s movie but in a positive way. It
also brings back those memories of the cold war that
used to be. Especially in East-Berlin the movie becomes
tense. Besides tense the movie is also quite funny.Anthony
Edwards is well-cast as the young man being whirled into
the wicked world of espionage behind the Iron Curtain,
and I can´t help falling in love with Linda Fiorentino..That
woman is so seductive and sexy in a strange mysterious
way. She, and the border-tension of East Berlin, is my
main reason for really liking this movie...They don't
make 'em like this any more....Its Spy Game of the
80,s... - Morten Henriksen

RENEGADES(1989):
in it!!! Southerland plays a cop who's apparently doing
an undercover job when all Hell breaks loose! It becomes
hard to know who's the good guys and who's the bad
guys here!! Lou Diamond gets involved when the guys
Southerland is after steals a lance belonging to Lou's
Indian tribe(The Lakota)! As I said, there is no reason
for this movie to be in an "Actin Comedy" collection,
but it's a decent enough movie, just don't expect a
lot of laughs!! B
A review from IMDb.com:
RENEGADES is a great formula film from Jack Sholder. The
films format is action adventure with a heavy native american
theme. The film tells the tale of police corruption, mafia
dirty dealings and the theft of a sacred lance from a native
american tribe. The film has predictable elements yet is
worthwhile. Of note is the directing style of sholder which
is kinetic enough to keep the audience interested. RENEGADES
is formula but succeds at being good formula; good formula
never fails. I recommend this film as a popcorn and coke
film. - GURNEYRAMPART

BIRD ON A WIRE(1990)
Goldie Hawn!! Mel plays a dude who's gotten himself
into a shit load of trouble, and Goldie gets tied up in
it, as she's an old flame that got "left at the alter"! A
A review from an IMDb.com customer:
Don't pay attention to negative reviews. This movie is really
good and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it as much as I did.

STOP OR MY MOM WILL SHOOT(1992):
about a cop and his mother! She's really overly
protective, and makes his life a complete Hell!!
And he hasn't enough balls to tell her to knock it
off! This is almost painful to watch in the beginning!!
But it actually gets fairly fun toward the middle,
with a pretty good ending! B
A review from IMDb.com:
90 minutes of pure entertainment. I mean .. i'm in the
middle of it right now, and i just know this is about
becoming on of my favorites.

COWBOY WAY, THE(1994):
Kiefer is wonderful!! The movie is not the greatest
but does have moments! They play two cowboys who
have a friend who's daughter has been illegally brought
over to America from Cuba, and her father has been
paying large sums of money to get her free! He goes
to NY to try to get her out of trouble, and disappears!
The boys promptly go looking for him and get into all
kinds of trouble!! B-
A review from IMDb.com:
This is by no means the best movie I've ever seen, but
I must confess (however guiltily) that I enjoyed it a great
deal more than the reviewers I consulted led me to expect
I might. -- Kiefer Sutherland and Woody Harrelson are
appealing as the two male leads, old rodeo friends who
had a major falling out years before but now find themselves
teamed up to help an old friend find his daughter. Their
adventures in urban New York City are, by turns, humorous
and suspenseful. Dylan McDermott demonstrates some
considerable acting range as a sleazy weasel. The inevitable
chase scene through downtown Manhattan somehow seems
fresh and exciting. -- No one will confuse this piece with
High Art, but one could spend one's time in worse ways... - Costu-2

ANOTHER MIDNIGHT RUN(1994):
nothing to compare this to! So I'm going to rate this
one on its own merit. The movie is about a bounty
hunter named Jack Walsh - Christopher McDonald
(Star Trek: TNG episode "Yesterday's Enterprise") -
who is hired to pick up a couple of small time con
artists and bring them back! Problem is the two are
considerably smarter than Jack!! Plus they have
an accomplice that Jack has no idea is even around!
The dude con is played by Jeremy Lawrence who
is probably the best actor in this one, with Julie Lott
as his partner, who is a very good clone of Cybil
Shephard, doing almost as good as Jeremy! Really
a pretty good movie! B
A review from IMDb.com:
Decent made for tv movie, was made about the same
time as the remake(s) of smokey & the bandit, and the
hercules movies. Amusing romp, but not worth the $,
if you see it on tv tape/tivo it. Even the actors are
actually better then your average TV actor :) - holysin-1

BANDIT GOES COUNTRY(1994):
Charles Nelson Reilly, with the original cast being
long gone!! Having not seen the original Smokey And
The Bandit I have nothing to compare this to, so I'll
do it on its own merit!!
There's actually a couple of really decent songs in
here, with the great Reba McIntire and the equally
great Vince Gill("The Heart Won't Lie"), and the
also great MMMMel Tillis(who also acts in this, and
is probably the most fun in the whole show!!)!
Some very bad fight scenes, some incredibly bad
acting, several car chases, and a very thin plot,
make for an actually kinda fun TV movie!! B
A review from IMDb.com:
This made for tv adaption of the "Smoky and
the Bandit" films has all the usual fast cars,
fast women, bar fights, and high speed chases
that one associates with the bandit. This edition
is complicated by the Bandits attempt to reclaim
his lost love (Elizabeth Berkley) whom he abandoned
some years earlier since she was from the wrong
side of the tracks (actually the wrong side of the
river). Further complications are government men
hunting for bootleg audio tapes, competition for
a large carved wooden bear, and two young people
in love who are from opposite sides of the river.
Definitely not a serious film. Brain Bloom is
adequate as the bandit but that is about all
one can say about him. Elizabeth Berkley is
fine as the love interest and a little more.
"Bandit Goes Country" is not really the Bandit
but is good fun anyway. - Richard L. Puchstein

BULLETPROOF(1996):
plays an undercover cop out to bust up a drug
ring, which Adam is an operator for! This is
really not too bad, but not a great movie! Not
a real fan of either of these actors, but together
they work pretty well! B
A review from IMDb.com:
I really didn't find anything that bad in this movie,
it has some big names and really entertaining. I
found Adam Sandler's character Archie funny, along
with Damon Wayans formed a good team. James
Caan as the bad guy was a nice choice. The only
thing I didn't like about this movie was the ending,
but nothing that big to gripe about this is worth
renting if you like Sandler, cussing, and fun
action. - colinwhitefan
