DEATH WISH(1974):

Yep, Bronson, Thugs, Violence. Nuf said! B-

From Amazon.com:

This movie is one of our favorites. I was skeptical at
first but after seeing it, I became a fan of the series.
I think most people fantasize about taking the law into
our own hands from time to time. Its easy to side with
Bronson's character.

Give this movie a chance. Its worth
watching. - Tell It Like It Is (Stuck on Midgard)

ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ(1979):

Very interesting story of convicts at Alcatraz
planning an escape. Not much action but a
good story supposedly based on a true story. B+

From Amazon.com:

One of Clint Eastwood's two most important
filmmaking mentors was Don Siegel (the other
was Sergio Leone), who directed Eastwood in
Dirty Harry, Coogan's Bluff, Two Mules for Sister
Sara, and this enigmatic, 1979 drama based on
a true story about an escape from the island
prison of Alcatraz. Eastwood plays a new convict
who enters into a kind of mind game with the
chilly warden (Patrick McGoohan) and organizes
a break leading into the treacherous waters off
San Francisco. As jailbird movies go, this isn't
just a grotty, unpleasant experience but a
character-driven work with some haunting
twists. --Tom Keogh

UNCOMMON VALOR(1983):

Pretty much a Rambo type of movie with
Gene Hackman, Patrick Swayze and a host
of other fine actors! Pretty good. B+

From Amazon.com:

Based on a true story, this action film set in
the post-Vietnam era casts Gene Hackman
as a retired military man who gets tired of
government inaction in tracking down the
whereabouts of his son, who has been listed
as missing in action in Vietnam. So he gathers
and trains a rough group of Vietnam vets to
launch his own mission into Laos, where his
intelligence tells him the son is being held.
Hackman brings sorrowful power to the role of
determined father, and has a rugged supporting
cast (including Patrick Swayze, Fred Ward,
and Randall "Tex" Cobb) to keep the story
moving forward, even when the machinations
become formulaic. --Marshall Fine
