This is in Japanese, with English subtitles, so it has
to be read as well as watched!!

MYSTERY OF THE NECRONOMICON(1998)
CHAPTER 1: BOOK OF THE DEAD:
First we meet Asuka Suzusaki and her brother Satoshi, whom
she calls cheif!! He is a private investigator!! We also meet
Mina Shizui, who is an information getter for Satoshi, and
who apparently is crushing on Satoshi!
Asuka and Satoshi are staying at a ski lodge on a vacation,
when a whole family is found dead in one of the rooms!!
The first report is that it was suicide, but after a closer
look, IT'S MURDER MOST FOUL!! There is a police investigation
and then a sudden storm brings it all to a halt 'til things clear
up! While waiting for the storm to pass, another murder takes
place and the manager of the hotel asks Satoshi to help find
out what happened!!
The investigation starts!:
Next we meet Terada Takayoshi, a policeman, and in
charge of a homicide that happened in the building that
Asuka and Satoshi are staying in! And then there's Sakimizu
Haruka and Hiruta Shigeomi, who have a meeting after
the murders, with Hiruta saying that it "took a while to
dub the tape"! Hmmm, sounds fishy to me!! B
Next up, Shibusawa Yasunori, who is the hotel manager!
Probably not the murderer, but who knows???
The next up is quite suspicious indeed! Ando Kazuki is
the name, and he has just recently lost his job, wife,
kids, and everything important in his life!
And then we have Nezu Toshiaki, who has an unnerving
interest in the book of the Necronomicon, a book supposedly
written in 730 AD by Abdul Alhazard that's suppose to hold
the secret of eternal life, and which was banned and hidden
away!!
Next on the list of suspects are two females who are
sharing a room together, Nozomi Fuyukawa and her
private tutor, Sakimizu!!(hmm, we've seen her before,
haven't we????)!
CHAPTER 2: BOOK OF THE DEAD:
With Satoshi now the main suspect in everyone's
book, except his sister, the investigation takes a
turn!!
Not long into the second chapter, it starts being
pretty obvious who the murderer is! But, maybe
not!! (LOL) A
CHAPTER 3: BLACK CHAPTER:
Satoshi is now on the hunt to save Nozomi from
Ando, who has kidnapped her and is planning to
use her in some sort of ritual!!
The search take them to the US, where 6 years
previous, Satochi interrupted a ritual in process!!
This is where she lost his memory!
Some very, um, interesting happenings in this one!! A
CHAPTER 4: BLACK CHAPTER:
This opens with a scene from the early 1940s,
that looks a lot like the ones that we have seen
so far in this movie!!
Another storm, another murder!! It becomes
apparent that there are others involved in
these murders, but we just don't know who yet!
This takes quite a perverted twist toward the
end, and build up to the final battle!! A

This anime shows its age and I only bought it
for sentimental reasons. Very adult content
which adds nothing to the story line. Would
give it less stars, but nostalgia kicked in as
I watched this when it first came to America
on VHS no less. - Wolfy
