BATMAN - RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS
The return of Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin,
as well as Julie Newmar as Catwoman, in animation, of course!!!!
Sadly, as most everyone who's ever fallowed Batman knows, the
great Burgess Meridith(1907-1997)(Penguin), Frank Gorshin(1933-2005)
(Riddler) & Caesar Romero(1907-1994)(Joker) are not with us any more,
so their shoes were filled by others! With John Astin still alive, I'm surprised
they didn't employ him as The Riddler!!
Also gone are Alan Napier(1903-1988)(Alfred the Butler), Neil Hamilton
(1900-1984)(Commissioner Gordon) and Stafford Repp(1918-1974)(Chief
O'Hara)!!
I won't know what I think of the replacements til I've watched this!!
A quite funny in-joke early on, Catwoman gets split into three, representing
the three females who played the character(Julie, Lee Meriwether & Ertha Kitt)!!
Yep they even threw in some holies!! "Holy unholy alliance", "Holy crumbling
infrastructure", "Holy trench warfare", "Holy Einstein", "Holy Salisbury steak"
"Holy noxious gas", "Holy citric enzymes", "Holy entree", "Holy dragnet", "Holy Trojan
horse", "Holy helium", "Holy zero G's", "Holy Plie", "Holy Faster, Pussycat, Kill,
Kill"?????, "Holy hydrogen", "Holy shrapnel", "Holy counter-acting potions",
"Holy spontaneous combustion", "Holy triple-cross", "Holy stowaway", "Holy
Hindenburg" & "Holy unsatisfying ending"!!
As for the story, the four fiendish felons are out to take over Gotham City, and
then the world, as they have procured a duplicating ray that they are using to
create duplicates of world leaders that will do their bidding!!! This takes the
Caped Crusaders out of this world, literally, when they go to a space station(not
the real one), to do battle with the group! Along the way, Batman gets drugged
by Catwoman, which brings out the worst in him!!
Ok, after watching this, the replacement voice for The Riddler is quite good!!
Aunt Harriet is pretty good! The dudes doing the Joker's and Penguin's laughs
are also very good!! The rest, adequate!!
A final word, this is a wonderful tribute to the original Batman series from the
60's. Great fun!! A

From an IMDb.com customer
I'm a big fan of the 1960's series. When I heard that Adam West
and Burt Ward were going to reprise their roles, I figured how
could this possibly be bad? I was not disappointed. The producers
and director captured the fun and corniness of the show perfectly.
There are Easter Eggs for attentive fans all over the place. Added
bonus - Julie Newmar voiced the Catwoman. If you are a fan of the
show, this is for you. I could have bought this used or streamed it
but I made the decision to buy a DVD at retail to support the effort
and if you are a fan and want to send them a positive message, I
urge you to do the same. I heard that they are going to produce
another one with William Shatner voicing Two-Face. Tune in
tomorrow. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel. - flicker-16
