JUSTICE LEAGUE - WAR/ORIGINS VOL. 1 GRAPHIC NOVEL
This has not only the DVD of the movie War, but
also has the Blue Ray and the Graphic Novel "Origins"
Vol. 1!
Ok, we don't have any voice actors that we've grown use to
as our main characters, and who the Hell drew Superman???
He looks nothing like every other rendition of Superman I've
ever seen!! And one more thing, these guys, when the JLA
first formed, were all friends, and treated each other with
respect!!! I think that's the main thing that bothers me with
DC's new portrayal of these superheroes!!
Putting that aside, this is another story about the world being
against our superheroes!! This really is a bad story line as far
as I'm concerned!! It's another one of those "keeping up with
Marvel" ideas, which I don't like at all!! If I wanted to watch
a Marvel show, I'd get Spiderman or X-Men!!
Now that I've had my rant, to the story: Strange devices have
been found in all our main character's cities: Gotham, Metropolis,
Central and Emerald, which of course houses Batman, Superman,
Flash and Green Lantern!!
In this, the "origin" story, those four, along with Wonder Woman,
Shazam(!!) and Cyborg(???)(where the Hell are Aquaman & J'onn
J'onzz[better known as the Martian Manhunter]) battle Darkseid
in a duel to, well, you get the idea!!
Not a bad movie, but I wish they'd have used some of the more
familiar guys that voiced these characters!! There is a ton of
action and it's a good story!! Well worth the price of admission!! A
From an IMDb.com customer
Waves of parademons attack and Earth's main super-heroes
band together in defence somewhat reluctantly (because they
don't like each other).
This animated movie tells a very simple story of a huge but
unfocused invasion, fought off by well-known superheroes
and Cyborg. There is some origin stuff (including Cyborg), but
not enough given that these are the New 52 versions of the
characters. And that means that Superman is not a character
of humility and nobility, he's a brash young man driven by
impulse. Wonder Woman is not a character of gravitas and
depth, she is shallow and temperamental. Cosmic policeman
Green Lantern, responsible for a huge sector of the galaxy,
is a trivial smartar$e. And so on. These are not the characters
many viewers will be expecting to see, and they needed more
explanation.
The film, which has virtually no substance behind the almost
non-stop action, is a wonderful example of just how misconceived
DC's New 52 reboot was: just about everything which made
its characters so iconic has been abandoned and replaced with
something not as good. At a stroke, overall quality has been
diminished by a material amount.
