CHALLENGE OF THE SUPER FRIENDS - 1978
It took a lot of research, but finally I figured
out what was what with these two sets!!
The one that says Season 1 is actually the
the first show that was shown each week,
with the second one, entitled Challenge of
the Super Friends V. 2 is the second show
from each week!! No where on the dvds
does it explain this, and no where on the
internet can you find this out!! That being
said, these two sets comprise the entire
1 year series that was released in 1978!!
My issues with this series are the three
non-Justice League characters that are
prominently used throughout this series!!
They are REALLY DORKY!! And this series
could have really used Kevin Conroy and
Tim Daly as Batman and Superman!! What's
interesting is that the cover of V. 2 shows
the Flash along with the other superheroes,
but there is no hide nor hair of him in these
episodes!!! LOL!!
Now, with all of that out of the way, please
note that all of the odd numbered titles are
on the dvd called Challenge of the Super Friends:
The First Season, while all the even number ones
are on the dvd Super Friends Volume Two!!
All of the odd numbered episodes are about
the JLA VS The Legion of Doom!
The LOD members are:
Lex Luthor, Captain Cold, Sinestro, Bizarro,
Solomon Grundy, Cheetah, Brainiac, Black
Manta, Grodd, Toyman, Riddler, Giganta
and Scarecrow!!
The JLA:
Superman, Batman, Robin, Flash, Black Vulcan(?),
Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern,
Hawkman, Samuria and Apache Cheif!!
There are several well known, as well as several
really should be known voices here:
Kasey Casem ... Well known star of the radio show
American Top 40 for many years!!
Ted Cassidy ... Most well known for his character
Lurch in The Addams Family!! He also played Rok
in the Star Trek episode "What Are Little Girls
Made Of?" as well as two other episodes!
Don Messick ... Don is not quite so well known
but you've known his voice forever in cartoons:
Boo Boo in Yogi Bear Cartoons, Scooby Doo, Astro
in The Jetsons, Dr. Quest in Johnny Quest, several
voices in The Transformers, Blip in Space Ghost,
Bam Bam in The Flintstones and many others!!
Frank Welker ... He was not only in the Transformers
tv cartoon, but also was in the Go Bots, and voiced
the screams you hear on the Star Trek movie "Search
for Spock"!
Vic Perrin ... Vic was in(or a voice in) several Star
Trek episodes: The voice of Nomad in "The Ultimate
Computer", voice of Metron in "Arena", again the
voice of The Keeper in "The Menagerie" Pt. 2, and
finally as Tharn in "Mirror Mirror"!
