ANTONIO(1973)
Trini Lopez in a movie! Who'd'a thunk!(Actually, he was
in nine movies/TV shows including the incredibly entertaining
movie "The Dirty Dozen" with, well just about everybody that
was anyone back in 1967[Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Charles
Bronson, George Kennedy, Telly Sevallas etc.] none of which
are in this low budget film)! Anyway, Trini plays a potter
in a small village and Larry Hagman shows up, Mercedez and
all, and needs help right away cause his car's out of order!
Light humor abounds along with music by Trini! Trini's acting
is very smooth and he's incredibly likeable here! Actually,
Larry does a great job too! You go through the whole movie
expecting something terrible to happen, but much to my
surprise, it just never happens!! Much better than I thought
it would be and worth watching just for Trini's singing!!
This has an ending that you'll never see coming!! B

ANTONIO is an odd little Chilean movie that's chiefly
of interest today for featuring a pre-DALLAS Larry
Hagman in a role as a Texan millionaire. He loses his
car south of the border and the titular character picks
it up and attempts to return it. Overall, this is a
slice of life comedy that features various quirks and
characters, and I should note that it plays out in a
very low budget way. There are romantic scenes, singing,
and lots of drinking with characters who are having
a better time than the viewer. The actors overact on
occasion. Watch out for Hagman's wildman
