DORIS DAY AND ROCK HUDSON COLLECTION MOVIE PAGE:

The comedy antics of Doris and Rock are all
here, along with Tony Randall! Other famous
or semi-famous actors here include William
Schallert, Nick Adams, Thelma Ritter, Donna
Douglas, Jack Alberson, Joe Flynn, Edie Adams,
Ann B. Davis, Richard Deacon, Paul Lynde & Clint
Walker!

PILLOW TALK(1959):

Day and Hudson play two people who share a
telephone party line(in case you're too young
to remember party lines, there was a time when,
to get a telephone, you had to share the line
with another customer who you had no idea who
they were)! Tony Randall plays a rich man who
has the hots for Doris, and Rock's a music
composer that Tony is an old friend with who's
helping him with a play he's developed.

Tony lets slip that he knows Doris, and that
triggers Rock to try and make a move on her!
Also complicating things are Nick Adams, who
plays a Harvard grad who also gets hung up
on Doris! One of the best in this is Thelma
Ritter, who is the funniest in this light
comedy! Quite funny!

One of the ironic parts of the movie
revolves around Rock playing a duel part
and at one point he suggests that his counterpart
is perhaps gay, but not overtly! Of course we
all know that Rock was later outed!!

Doris sings the theme song, as well as
a couple more! A-

A review from Amazon:

So there I was, in my sick-bed when this film comes
on. I start to watch, having never seen it before,
and to my surprise, find myself laughing...out loud.

I have never really been a fan of either Doris Day
or Rock Hudson, but I did enjoy this piece of fluff.
And in our modern times when comedies currently
released in the cinema can hardly raise a smile,
let alone a laugh, I found this a pure delight. So
the sexual politics maybe a little outdated, but
there were some beautifully timed comedy set-pieces:
The moment Doris Day discovers the real identity of
Hudson's character has one of the best use of music
I have seen in a movie since the Warner Bros cartoons!

A film that I didn't think I would enjoy, but was
completely bowled over by. - wrenster

LOVER COME BACK(1961):

The trio of Day/Hudson/Radall return for another
fun romp, but this time not quite as good as the
first outing! Day and Hudson are competing advetising
reps while Tony is again a rich dude who feels
sorry for himslef! Again Rock is a womanizer who
finds out that his rival is not just another advisary,
but a quite pretty one! He sets his sights on her,
this time posing as a scientist because Doris has
mistaken him for a rather famous chemist that Rock
and Tony have enlisted to develope a product called
VIP, which they already have been advertising!

Not sure what it is about this one that makes
me think that they took a step back from Pillow
Talk, perhaps the over-acting by Rock in Doris'
appartment, perhaps the whole shebang! Still it
has its funny moments, but just not as good as
their first!

Again, Doris sings the title song here! B

A review from IMDb.com:

"Lover Come Back" is another highly amusing Doris
Day / Rock Hudson comedy that's just a shade below
their earlier teaming, "Pillow Talk". Day is a chaste
advertising agency representative; Hudson plays her
rival who uses girls and liquor to get clients.
Tony Randall gives them solid support as the wimpish
inheritor of Hudson's agency.

As in all movies that used the talents of writer
Stanley Shapiro ("Operation Petticoat", "That Touch
of Mink"), the dialogue is often delightfully witty.
One of the funniest scenes ensues when Randall tests
his 'moose horn' with hilarious consequences (although
the effect is somewhat marred by an unconvincing,
obviously immobile moose). Cute opening credits,
too. - fletch5

SEND ME NO FLOWERS(1964):

Rock Hudson plays a hypocondriac in this slapstick
movie that reunites him with Doris Day and Tony
Randall in their final movie together!! He overhears
his doctor on a phone call from the cardiologist about
another diagnosis that's doom for the patient and
thinks that it's him that they're talking about! He
then proceeds to seek out a replacement for his wife
when he's gone!

Again, Doris sings the theme song. A much better
movie than the last one! A
