The whole series of movies based on the Die Hard
set of movies starring Bruce Willis!!
The first three movies were released in a set called "Die
Hard: The Ultimate Collection"! All of these have two discs
with the second disc being special features! The other two
movies where released separately!
DIE HARD(1988):
great setting, wonderful acting and a great story! Just
as good now(2015) as it was when it was first made(1988)!!
Totally unrealistic, absolutely impossible situation,
completely phenomenal special effects and just a
fun movie to watch!!
This has two discs, with several extras, including deleted
scenes, on it! A+
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
It always throws my family for a loop that I watch DIE
HARD every Christmas. But I can't help it, it's tradition.
It's been a Top 5 of mine for many years and I don't see
that changing anytime soon. It's a first-rate action/thriller
and takes everything great about the action genre and
just makes it better. If the screen isn't being owned by
Bruce Willis and Alan Rickman (riveting performances,
both), there's the welcome comic relief of Hart Bockner,
Paul Gleason and the FBI guys. It features a score that's
Michael Kamen at his best, striking photography, a
relatable hero and a script with no throwaway scenes.
Part of the fun of watching this movie is getting to spend
two hours inside the Nakatomi building. The sets reflect
the building's opulence, and even the unfinished floors
provide all sorts of atmosphere.
It's impressive how many things DIE HARD gets right
Let me put it this way: compare this to the more recent
entries in the series. It's a jarring difference.

From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
Bruce Willis takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin', nearly
outdoing himself in one of the great actioneers of our
time. DIE HARD 2 has everything a true action fan could
ever want: explosions, chases, plot twists, suspense,
drama and all that other good stuff.
Just two years after his last near-death adventure, John
McClane (what a great action hero name) battles bad
guys who take over an airport's communication system
around the holidays. Unless their demands are met,
they will unceremoniously plummet planes to the
ground one by one -- including one on which Mrs.
McClane (Bonnie Bedelia) is a passenger. Of course
Johnny, he of wise-cracking ways, is the only one
who can save the day.
Like its predecessor, set almost entirely in a skyscraper,
DIE HARD 2 makes the most out of its setting. McClane
is as multi-purpose as can be, chasing mercenaries
through luggage conveyors, grasping onto aircraft
wings, running out onto the runway and, in a truly
awesome scene, ejecting from a plane a split second
before it bursts into flames. Throw in a snowmobile
chase, the standard trip through the air ducts and
a legitimate, interesting motivation for the crooks
and you have a total thrill ride guaranteed to recharge
your batteries.
Efforts like DIE HARD 2 won't win any major awards,
but they'll do what films are supposed to do: thrust
us into another world and entertain us. This is truly
Willis and director Renny Harlin at their
best. - jonathon_naylor

From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
This movie gets right to the point and starts off
with an explosion. I love that. A crazy guy named
Simon (played very well by Jeremy Irons) blows
up a store, and asks to speak to John McClane,
who is on suspension. The cops grab McClane,
who is by now a heavy drinker, and put him on
the phone with Simon. Simon makes him walk
through Harlem with a very offensive sign. Just
when he is about to get beat down, he is rescued
by the racist Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Zeus.
It seems as though Simon wants revenge on
McClane for something, but nobody knows why.
Now, Zeus and McClane are at the mercy of
Simon, who meanwhile is committing a massive
robbery.
This movie is considerably different from the
other two, which is probably a good thing.
Who wants the same thing three times in a row?
The plot has as many twists and turns as a snake,
and the movie keeps the viewer involved. Watching
Zeus and McClane bicker is amusing as well. Samuel
L. Jackson pulls off the role of the "racist black man"
very well. I would highly recommend this movie. - srobi280

With this movie being made 12 years after the last
McClain gets involved with cyber attackers in this
and ends up enlisting the help of two cyber hackers
to help him out(Justin Long and Kevin Smith[yep,
of Comic Book Men fame!!])! In this his daughter
also gets involved, whom we didn't see hide nor
hair of in the last movie!
All here do a great job of acting, the story line
is intriguing, and the special effects are top notch!!
As usual, the music fits the movie, and the ending
while probably pretty predictable, is very satisfying!
The special features here are quite lengthy, and
quite fun to watch, especially the interview that
Bruce and Kevin did together! A+
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
When a criminal plot is in place to take down the
entire computer and technological structure that
supports the economy of the United States (and
the world), it's up to a decidedly "old school" hero,
police detective John McClane, to take down the
conspiracy, aided by a young hacker.
Well, I can't believe I'm saying this but the newest
edition to the Die Hard series may rank with the first.
It's superb direction, fantastic acting, groundbreaking
special effects and clever quirps will leave you with
(almost) nothing to complain about. Die Hard may
very well be the best action flick of 2007. It can be
beat, but I doubt by a sequel.
I am proud to say that Bruce Willis still has some
John McClane left in him. Bruce gets to say one
of most famous lines in action film history, "Yippy
Ki-ya Motha ******!", without cuts, he even gets to
talk to himself, a scene that is almost identical to
the scene in the air vent of the first film. (C'mon,
it'll be fun, come out to the coast, have a few laughs.)
About all the controversy for the MPAA rating...it
was all useless. Die Hard acts just like a rated R
film, just because it says PG-13 doesn't mean its
not as violent as the others. No, he doesn't say the
F word, but it's not as bad as you think. It's more
of a character to character type of thing then
anything else. John McClane learns to bond with
a young hacker. (Justin Long) It's more...I don't
know..."cute" then the other movies, it doesn't
need the F word.
I don't think there is much else to say. Die Hard
is one of my best movie experiences to date. The
crowd laughed and screamed and then cheered
at the end. The only slightest problem I had with
this film was the fact that the realism was quite low.
Then again, as I have said before, if everything
were realistic we wouldn't have action movies.
Live Free or Die Hard is a must-see IN THE THEATRE.

For the last round of Die Hard(as of 2015), John McClain
Not as good as the previous Die Hard(4: Live Free Or
Die Hard), but still a pretty good yarn, with decent
acting, an ok plot with a few twists and turns, and
again some fairly good special effects(though not up
to the previous movies standards)! Definitely worth
a watch, but the best two are still 1 and 4!
There are, unfortunately no special features with this
release! Too bad, some of them on the previous discs
have been quite entertaining!! B+
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
I have enjoyed every single Die Hard to this point,
including the fourth one that no one seemed to like.
So naturally, I was excited for the fifth film, A Good
Day to Die Hard. Unfortunately, this film turned out
to be rather mediocre and unlike the others, it did
not feel much like a Die Hard film. Sure, the action
is good as always, but the screenplay was muddled
and the direction was rushed. While I thoroughly
enjoyed the movie, I couldn't help but feel a little
letdown when the credits rolled.
John Moore's film brings us the return of the
wise-cracking John McClane and this time he ventures
out to Russia to find and rescue his son, who has
been up to very bad business in Russia and now
working together, they must avert a nuclear crisis.
The acting is pretty good. We all know what to expect
from Bruce Willis and we got his typical, sardonic
personality as McClane. Jai Courtney did a rather
good job as McClane's estranged son. Sebastian
Koch was a nice baddie. However, I should mention
that the villains are also weakest in the series. But
then again, who can compare to Hans Gruber?
Overall, I still found this film to be mildly enjoyable
despite being the weakest of all five. It's a welcome
return for the R-rating, since they botched up McClane's
signature line in the last film. But the action is good
as we expect, but they could have done a little more
with the story and characterization. If they make a
6th, I hope it will be a true classic. I rate this film
7/10. - g-bodyl
