This includes the final film starring Annette
and Frankie, Back To The Beach!
FRANKIE AND ANNETTE SET
This set has all of Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello's
movies(pans the Disney ones, and Back to the Beach). Plus
a movie starring only Annette. And what can be said other
than Annette! Some fun stuff here!
MOVIES WITH BOTH:
BEACH PARTY(1963):
Also starring Bob Cummings, Dorthy Malone, Morey
Amsterdam and Harvey Lembeck(and a special appearance
by the great Vincent Price and Peter Falk!!). Music(all
nearly forgettable!) and bikinis. And almost no plot! B-
From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
Pop star Frankie Avalon and former Mouseketeer
Annette Funicello inaugurated the beach movie proper
(after Gidget tested the waters) with this celebration
of surf, sand, rock & roll music, and, of course, sex.
Frankie carries Annette (named Doris in the film) over
the threshold of a beach cabin as she whispers "It's just
like we're married." "Exactly"!? he smiles before tripping
over a dozen friends camping out on the floor. Well,
not quite, as it turns out in the boys-against-girls contest
of one-upmanship and jealous tantrums. Frankie woos
the pneumatic Scandinavian Eva Six and Annette flirts
with frumpy anthropologist Bob Cummings (wearing a
beard that would scare Grizzly Adams). Meanwhile he
secretly studies the mating rituals of the beach tribe
with his eternally frustrated assistant Dorothy Malone.
Harvey Lembeck (from Stalag 17) is the aging juvenile
delinquent Eric von Zipper, a spastic motorcycle gang
leader, while Morey Amsterdam recites silly beat poetry
in a Chinese mask and surf rocker Dick Dale plays bongos
and wears a gold earring. Look for bit parts by Beach Boy
Brian Wilson (as a surfer) and Peter Falk (as a biker)
and a cameo by Vincent Price. This first beach romp
is about as sophisticated as a Keystone Kops farce (it
ends with a slapstick free-for-all that wouldn't be out
place in the silent era), but it's dumb, fluffy fun with
lots of hunky boys and pretty bikinied girls shaking their
booties and making out. --Sean Axmaker

Annette & Frankie with Don Rickles, Stevie Wonder,
From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
The second film in the Beach Party series returns Frankie
Avalon and Annette Funicello to the land of endless summer
and back-projection surfing. It's as giddy as the first movie.
Two inane subplots are added: Frankie is wooed by a wealthy
bombshell (knockout Luciana Paluzzi), and Don Rickles
trains a team of bodybuilders. The usual Beach Party
trademarks are in place, including real surfing footage
(much improved from the first film), Candy Johnson's
shimmy dancing, and Annette's modified bikini with
mesh-covered cleavage. Music is provided by Dick Dale
and a rockin' Little Stevie Wonder, with most of the songs
penned by a triumvirate of surf-music royalty: Brian Wilson,
Roger Christian, and Gary Usher. As Frankie says, "Now
you swing with me on that, or you don't swing at all." We
swing..

From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello's third summer
at the beach reunites the old gang (Jody McCrea, John
Ashley, Candy Johnson--who once again shimmies
through the credits--and Harvey Lembeck as the
buffoonish motorcycle gang leader Eric von Zipper)
for more summer sun antics. Frankie plays two roles:
the sex mad surfer still chasing comely Annette (renamed
Dee Dee in this film) and a British singing sensation named
Potato Bug, who moves the gang from the beach to the
blacktop for a little drag-strip action. The goofy,
gap-toothed rocker is supposed to be a spoof of The
Beatles but more resembles Terry-Thomas with his pith
helmet and ?jolly good!? exclamations. While Annette
sidles next to Potato Bug to instill the necessary
undercurrent of jealousy to set the mood, Keenan
Wynn provides the slimmest excuse of a plot as a
rest home tycoon with a pet ape that surfs, twists,
and drives dragsters with the best of them. It's even
sillier than the first two, with a plot that dissolves
halfway through and a slapstick fueled, pie-fight
finale. It shows every sign of having been quickly
cobbled together and loses some of the energy and
charm of Beach Party, but it's still a giddy little
slice of 1960s surf and sex innocence. Little Stevie
Wonder makes a late appearance and Boris Karloff
drops by for a cameo. --Sean Axmaker

From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
Frankie Avalona and Annette Funicello oare back
again, in Beach Blanket Bingo. With a huge cast
of comedy legends including Don Rickles and Buster
Keaton, this surfin' sandfest is a deffinate winner.
Frankie (Avalon) and Dee Dee (Funicello) are riding
high on romance once again, until the singing sensation
Sugar Kane (Linda Heavens) falls from the sky into
Frankies arms! Not to be outdone by her fello flying
friends, Dee Dee signs up for skydiving lessions with
the guys. But when the beautifl instructor (Deborah
Walley) makes Frankie her after and before school
sweetheart, he must prove his devotion to Dee Dee
with a death-defying free fall, and a summer of love
that she will never forget. This is a fantastic beach
movie that also stars Harvey Lembeck, John Ashley,
Jody McCrea, Donna Loren, Marta Kristen, Linda Evans,
Don RIckles, Paul Lynde, Buster Keaton, Earl Wilson,
and Bobbie Shaw. So have some fun tonight, and
watch Beach Blanket Bingo. Chris

From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
Ski Party transfers the Beach Party vibe to snow,
with a Some Like it Hot ripoff thrown in. Frankie
Avalon and Dwayne Hickman go in drag to discover
what girls really want, but Deborah Walley and
Yvonne Craig put them in the deep freeze. It's
surprisingly fun, with deranged musical appearances
by James Brown and Lesley Gore. The outdoor stuff
was filmed at Sun Valley. Annette Funicello cameos

From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
?It ain't nothin' without the stuffin'!? That's what
all the groovy beach partyers say when a phantom
bikini appears out of nowhere, and suddenly fills
out its two-piece form with the voluptuous body
of Cassandra (Beverly Adams), who soon has all
the beach-hunks drooling. Along comes Madison
Avenue adman Peachy Keane (Mickey Rooney)
to recruit Cassandra for his Girl Next Door ad
campaign, while his assistant Ricky (Dwayne
Hickman) gets all googly-eyed for Dee Dee
(Annette Funicello), who's not as easy as the
other sand 'n 'surf chickie-babies. And where's
Frankie (Avalon)? He's on a tropical island with
the navy reserve, sampling the comely native
fauna and bribing the local medicine man
Bwana (played by... Buster Keaton?!) with
generous doses of alcoholic ?torpedo juice?
in return for a failsafe love potion. Oh, and
did we mention the cross-country cycle race
that will determine who's the fairest young
couple in the land?
The sixth installment of the seemingly endless
Beach Party series, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini
is a minor step up from Gilligan's Island, but
you've got to love a movie that includes a
mischievous pelican, an appearance by the
Kingsmen (of Louie Louie fame), and a half-dozen
forgettable pop songs that virtually define the
beach-party genre. Comedy purists may lament
the downward spiral of Buster Keaton's career,
but he's just having good, dumb fun like everyone
else, and geographic distance doesn't stop Frankie
and Annette from crooning a split-screen duet.
And dig those clay-animated opening credits by
Gumby creator Art Clokey! Let's face it, these
movies are perfect time capsules of juvenile
entertainment, and if you can't enjoy them in
all their cheesy glory, you're nothin' but a square! --Jeff Shannon

From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
Fireball 500 can be considered the last of
the Beach Party films since it was directed
by William Asher and features Frankie Avalon,
Annette and Harvey Lembeck except they
aren't close to their normal surf and sand
creations. Lembeck is no longer nutty
biker Erik Von Zipper. He's a Southern
bootlegger who also deals in racing. Frankie
plays a racecar driver working his way down
to Daytona. These are the early days of NASCAR
before sponsors made life so much easier for
the drivers. So instead of getting cash from
Budweiser like Dale Jr., Frankie scores extra
bucks by hauling moonshine for Lembeck.
There is a different tone between these
films and it's not merely going from sand to
asphalt. You can feel the dividing line between
Fireball 500 and How to Stuff A Wild Bikini
during a fight between Frankie and Harvey.
Instead of the slapstick mayhem of those
early films, Fireball 500 shows these two men
are out to hurt each other. They're not aiming
at the funnybone. No longer is Lembeck frozen
by a touch of the finger. Now there is blood
on their lips. Annette doesn't have too much
of a role. This racing movie is not her vehicle.
Both films come off as a little more hard-edged
than an Elvis movie. (And both were made before
Elvis roared into the NASCAR circuit with Speedway.)
But neither is shocking in their portrayals - especially
when you consider that a month after Fireball
500, AIP would put out Roger Corman's The Wild
Angels - a biker film that didn't flinch in its
debauchery and violence. While the films were
released a year apart, it seems the films were
shot close to each other since they involve the
same track in Southern California and the same
footage of NASCAR events at Daytona and Darlington.
If there is a major buying point for these films, it
is this amazing footage of early NASCAR. Both films
feature Richard Petty's blue 43 as their racer's car.
During that period of time, Petty dominated so
the filmmakers were guaranteed that their character's
car would be zipping underneath the checkered flag
when they shot the actual race. However this
footage also includes a tribute to Johnny Reb
complete with his confederate battle flag.
So this isn't the new multi-racial Nextel NASCAR.

The same can be said about Thunder Alley. Fabian
(Frankie's racing rival in Fireball 500) plays a racer
who has a pesky blackout problem as he circles the
hardtop. So he tries to make a comeback by being
part of a stunt show that features Annette. There's
even a wild party that gets out of control - especially
compared with those soda drinking kids on Bikini
Beach. Richard Rush directed this final AIP - Annette
feature. He's the same guy who a decade later
would give us ?The Stunt Man? - one of the cinematic
greats about the madness of a movie on location.

The most disappointing part is the music!!
Fortunately, the ending finale is actually
great, the best of the movie!!!
The last movie of Annette, as she got really
sick after this was made(MS)! Also Alan Hale
Jr.'s and Bob Denver's last film!
O.J. Simson even has a cameo!! Unfortunately,
so does Paul Ruebens!!! B
From a reviewer from Amazon.com:
This is a great piece of retro kitsch. Frankie and
Annette spoof themselves and their squeaky clean
image from the 60s. Loads of inside jokes for those
who love the old beach movies. Appearances by Dick
Dale, Connie Stevens, OJ Simpson, and Pee Wee Herman
are all top notch.
This was the first PG movie I ever saw. I loved
it and watched it over and over. Re-watching it
for the first time in a decade revealed so many
jokes I didn't get as a child. It's great, great,
great!! - missyp

What can one say about this movie? It's ridiculous but iresistable.
Vincent is always fun, the film has great color and location photography.
A perfect time capsule of how much fun the '60s could be. The Les
