G.I. JOE - RISE OF THE COBRA(2013)
A lot of action! A lot of set-up! These are not
your father's(um, my) G.I. Joes! Basic story, if
I've followed it right, is that there is a new
nano-technology that can destroy all metal it
touches! And of course there are many who want
it! Lots of blood, guts and gore! And lots of
weapons that don't exist! But fairly interesting! B+

This movie may have a questionable script, some sub-par
actors (Some were surprisingly good for a popcorn movie
which is applaudable) and some Team America style action
(They seemed to cause a lot more damage to Paris then
the terrorists plan to) but the film can not help but be
entertaining. It has what Transformers 2 had which was
good special effects, but what Transformers 2 lacked was
entertainment which this movie definitely has, even if it
isn't a very good movie from a movie point of view.
While lots of people and critics alike are going to bag the
hell out of this film, I think as long as you go in with an
open mind a low expectancy of the movie to hold any
sort of realism you will have a pretty good time, which
is really the reason the film was made (After the money
of course).
Overall, this film is a good watch for non fans of the series
at least but, not having seen the cartoon I cant speak for
existing fans of G.I. Joe but I had a good time, and I think
a lot of other people will 2 as long as they can maintain

G.I. JOE 2 - RETALIATION
Again, a lot of action, a lot of shooting, a lot
of ninja stuff and things blowing up! They added
Darryl "The Rock" Johnson & Bruce Willis and made
Channing Tatum's role quite minor! A few of the
gang from the first movie are here and the music's
pretty much the same! This is a better film than
the first, which is unusual for a follow-up movie!
Not Star Wars or Indaina Jones great, but still
worth a watch! B+

As I started reading the reviews for this movie I was wondering
if I was in the right place. I am not sure how anyone could accuse
this movie of not having a plot. The plot was great, interesting
and suspenseful. I have no doubt that this could have become
a very highly rated movie if it was not for how silly they made it.
Cracking silly jokes and unsuccessful attempts at humor during
what should have been very serious and intense scenes simply
ruined the movie for me. The corny one liners and jokes killed
any suspense that was building up and the main actors seemed
to be goofing off rather than trying to act.
I grew up with G.I Joe and remember it being very serious and
all about integrity, patriotism and dedication. Some of that was
displayed here but in such a non serious tone that it did not
seem genuine.
I will most likely still watch the movie again because the story
line and special effects were great. It is something fun to
watch even with its major flaws. I would love to see a remake
with a more serious and "dark" tone. - pastorjdh
