INDEPENDENCE DAY SET:
INDEPENDENCE DAY(1996)
INDEPENDENCE DAY 2: RESURGENCE(2016)
HOLIDAY - INDEPENDENCE DAY(1996)
Like I said, I know that this is a stretch, as this is an action/adventure/sci-fi
movie!! BUT, it does tie in to the US Independence Day theme, so, there you
go!! Anyway, as for the movie, one of the best action/adventure/sci-fi/holiday
movies ever made!! Right up there with Die Hard!! LOL!! Ok, ok, anyway
the basic story that probably everyone knows is that there's an invasion
from outer space on July 2, no year given, and they want to take over the
world, no questions asked! Some really great action scenes, a pretty good
cast, and a great movie!! A
From IMDb.com:
This movie is exciting, a good 90's classic. It's got good special effects,
a good story line, and a good cast. Watching it took me back to the
old days, before I was born!
The best scene in the movie was the chase scene between Will Smith
and the Alien. Will Smith really got out his funny catch phrases. And
the CGI didn't even seem dated. The action in Independence Day was
awesome. It never really slows down. There's a lot of destruction and
a lot of people die in it. The soundtrack was really good. It gave the film
something extra dramatic.
Independence day is a great summer movie for any day of the week.
Keep in mind there are adult situations that might not make it a good
family film. - Nikolaus Nikolaus

Ok, so not as good as the first one, but this one isn't as bad
as a lot of the reviewers are saying on IMDb.com! Sure it missed
Will Smith, but it does have Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch and Brent
Spiner, who all do a great job here! Well worth the watch!! B+
From IMDb.com:
The trouble with Independence Day: Resurgence is that the sequel
was released after 20 years from the original film and really there
was no need for it.
Minus Will Smith we have another alien threat 20 years later and
earth is a different place after harnessing the alien technology
they encountered.
From the first film we have Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd
Hirsch, Brent Spiner and Vivica Fox. I found Spiner's character
irritating in the first film and here he is some kind of wacky
Doc Brown character used mainly for comic relief.
Of the new cast Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Jesse T Usher
are bland compared to say veterans like William Fichtner.
However despite a not very original plot and also some not
very good CGI, I found the film cheesy fun and we get destruction
of landmarks, mayhem and plenty of stupidity. At least we do not
get Apple Macs interfacing with alien technology. - Prismark10
