RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK(1981)
with great actors, great story, great set pieces,
wonderful humor and great music!! This is just
about a perfect film! Not only do we have Harrison
Ford as Indiana Jones, but also Karen Allen, Denholm
Elliott and the great John Rhys-Davies(one of my
favorite character actors)! If you don't like this
movie, then there is something seriously wrong
with you!! A+
A review from IMDb.com:
Raiders of the Lost Ark is the adventure film. I saw
Raiders for the first time when I was nine years old,
the same year that kingdom of the crystal skull came
out. And i fel in love right away.
The story goes like this, in the second world war an
archaeologist named Dr. Henry indiana jones, jr. Is
hired by the US government to find the Ark of the
Covenant before the Nazis do.
Raiders's is a film with different genres all together.
The film has action, romance, humor and perhaps a
little horror.
What makes this film so strong, is the character of
Indiana Jones, and the musical score by John Williams.
John williams makes the best soundtracks in the film
industry. all his songs you know from E.T. to star wars
to harry potter. But maybe you do not know him. And
that is unfortunate.
And Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is fantastic, from
the hat to the whip to the leather jacket, you recognize
it easily. Harrison Ford is so likable. In every role he plays
you want to see him escape or survive in the film.
But the scene that's kept me most is the final scene.
The scene where Belloq and Toht get there faces melted
of. So violent and so disgusting. I love it.
To sum up the movie, it's a fantastic adventure story,
with great characters. And a beautiful film score
by John Williams.
I give Raiders of the lost Ark a 10/10. A must see. - DoctorBuster

A review from IMDb.com:
I love Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), but its sequel,
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), is one
of the most annoying films I've ever sat through. I
can somewhat see why others would enjoy it, but
for me this was nigh unbearable.
Harrison Ford is a good sport as always. There is
nothing to fault in his performance. Jonathan Ke
Quan isn't shabby either as Short Round. But Kate
Capshaw is just atrocious, one of the worst heroines
ever. She is useless, obnoxious, and as grating as a
mosquito buzzing in your ear. She gives Jar Jar Binks
a run for his money, and I say that with the utmost
sincerity; the only thing she has over that cinematic
abomination is that she is easier to look at.
I enjoyed some of the darker elements of the film,
but for the most part, they killed the fun. And I'm
not talking about the villain ripping people's hearts
out with his bare hand, I'm talking about the depiction
of child slavery, which was just brutal, too brutal
for a film that seeks to be escapist. It feels jarring.
It's easy to see why the response to Temple of Doom
is so divided. For me, the terrible heroine and the
general unpleasant feel of the movie destroy my
overall enjoyment. But as the TV Tropes website says,
your mileage may vary. - MissSimonetta

An absolutely great rebound from the previous movie!!
A review from an IMDb.com customer:
When the two greatest filmmakers in the world
teamed up to create the best action movie of all
time - Raiders of the Lost Ark, it seemed unlikely
that they could duplicate their divinely-inspired
work. After a miss with the entertaining yet
forgettable Indiana Jones and the Temple of
Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
comes pretty close to doing just that.
Film history's most profitable star Harrison
Ford returns to his signature role in a performance
that speaks for itself, and benefits greatly from
a gallery of memorable supporting characters.
That includes Sean Connery, the grandest of all
modern action day movie heroes (and appropriately
cast, as the spiritual father of the character is
James Bond). Connery plays against that, in a
performance that is different than anything he
has ever done, and it works. Even so, Denholm
Elliott can't seem to help stealing every scene
he's in as Marcus Brody, a lifelong friend of the
Jones family.
This movie stands by itself in the way it deals
with spirituality, and is thick with religious themes
throughout, without preaching to you. This is a
very difficult balance to achieve in any film,
and that alone makes the film stand out as
brilliant. It is more abundant with humor than
the previous two films, without the characters
falling into irritating self-parody. Being a sequel,
this is a difficult balance to achieve as well.
(Look at action sequels such as Lethal Weapon 4).
This film stands among the greatest action
adventures of all time. I don't know anyone
who hasn't seen it, but if you haven't, don't
walk to see it. Run. - gottogorunning

A review from IMDb.com:
Reading all the comments here, it looks like
this is one of the worst films ever made, and
it's absolute rubbish, Shia's character is Jar
Jar Binks, etc.
But it's earning a ton of money, and the
rankings (7.6) are high, so what does that
tell you? That compared to the haters, MOST
people came to his movie expecting a fun
adventure movie and got it.
Look, the Indiana Jones movies aren't
flawless. Even in the previous movies, you
had to suspend belief (people melting?
someone surviving a fall from a plane just
on a craft? a Knight living more than 1,000
years?) and just enjoy the action scenes - and
you have them here! Mutt swinging on the
vines is real corny but the car chase through
the jungle, complete with sword fight, fisticuffs,
giant ants, etc. - they are what you can expect
from an Indiana Jones movie. And Cate Blanchett
is a SUPER villain, Harrison somehow makes it all
believable for him to still be an action star at
60 plus, and it's great to see Marion Ravenwood
again.
STAR WARS I was a major major disappointment,
but this one is NOT. We have wanted to see Harrison
Ford suit up as Indy again, and here he has a good
cast with him, and yet we bash the movie because
it isn't RAIDERS? Nothing can be as much fun as the
first Indy Jones movie. But this one is still MUCH
MUCH better than any adventure movie out there
for the past several years.
Just watch it with an open mind. Don't expect
miracles, but fun entertainment for 2 hours and
you will get it - edjavega

A review from IMDb.com:
While I cannot say that I truly hated this film, I cannot
say that I loved it either. The first 15-25 minutes, give
or take, are enjoyable. It was exciting and it felt like
an Indiana Jones movie. However, the movie begins to crumble
from there. I felt like I was checking my watch every 15
minutes or so. There were moments where I was bored and I
honestly didn't care for some of the characters like Helena.
Her character was there only to help create a story that
was lacking in truly wrapping up Indiana Jones' story. The
action was great, Indiana Jones was great, but that is all
I really enjoyed from this film. - j-mayo1999

A review from Amazon.com:
The three hours on the bonus disc are quite
entertaining, and far warmer then your standard
PR piece. The newly produced 127-minute
documentary is put together chronologically
through each movie, so it works as a good
substitute for the lack of a commentary track.
Lots of behind-the-scenes footage is laced
with new interviews of every major living actor
and crew member including stuntmen and even
a bit player (Alfred Molina, talking about his first
role in Raiders). They tell us many things we
have heard, and many we haven't (like how
the film company became a rat breeder for
Last Crusade). And Spielberg enjoys showing
us how an editor can save a scene
or--ironically--how much creative fun went
into special effects before the computer took
over. Rounding out the extras are featurettes
on the music, sound, and--too briefly--special
effects, and stunts. --Doug Thomas
