INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS(1956)
This is a very simple and complex movie all at the same
time!! Great acting on all parts and a great story! Loved
it!!! A-

This movie had the simplest of sets, relatively small-time
actors, and no bug-eyed aliens and yet it was among the
greatest 50s sci-fi movies. Well the reason it was so
effective was writing--something many film seem to think
is, at best, of secondary importance in a film. The best
example I can think of in that department are the MISSION:
IMPOSSIBLE movies--all special effects and a big name
actor and intelligent writing is nearly undetectable!
I have heard some film experts analyze this movie and
say that the whole conspiracy aspect of this film is
a metaphor for the fears of Communism in this era. I
have no idea if that's what the writers intended--I
can just enjoy it on a direct level--aliens are replacing
us humans and no one believes poor Kevin McCarthy
(interesting last name, huh?).
Brilliant and simple and yet so effective. I truly
