JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH(3D)(2008):
First things first, the 3D portion of this movie sucks!!
They employed the old red/blue glasses that were
used way back in the 50s for 3D comic books(Superman,
for one!) It isn't worth the effort, at least not on the screens
I was using! Brendon Fraser does a pretty good job
here, and John Hutcherson is ok, with Anita Briem
lighting up the screen!! Not a bad story, but it seemed
that perhaps too much effort was put into trying to
make this 3D as opposed to a great story with great
direction! Still, fun to watch, just not a top ten type
movie!! B
From IMDb.com:
I was not dreading watching Journey To The Center
Of The Earth, but at the same time I was not thinking
it was going to be the best movie ever either. I was
simply ready to be entertained. Well, when it started
up, I immediately became interested, because it looked
enjoyable and entertaining and I was being fair on it,
no matter how much it was against my nature to try
and bash it.
After awhile, as the movie continued on, I got a little
restless, and at points flat out bored and uninterested.
It was a good movie, but a lot of things were just
unneeded and uninteresting, and also they tried to
hard to make a cool, awesome, totally tricked out
film when they should have focused a little bit more
on plot and character structure. (They tried to hard
to please the audience, as far as I could tell.) The
performances were decent enough, I should add,
as well.
Well, overall, it was a nice, enjoyable film, but it
is nothing that I would just praise down to the very
core of the film, or really care to watch again,
because there is not much that absolutely "wows"
you throughout the movie, but it entertained, and
there were some pretty cool action scenes I guess.
Watch with an open mind. - Dragoneyed363

The Rock is in this, I think for mostly comic relief!!
Not one of his better efforts! However, this does
have enjoyable spots, and an interesting enough
story, but just with ok acting, with a couple of
exceptions: Louis Guzman and Kristin Davis are
both fun, and Michael Cain is, well, Michael Cain!! B
From IMDb.com:
Journey 2 is basically a good movie if you have
kids to watch or if you're just bored one night
and need a few hours to kill then it's a perfectly
fine movie. It's not a movie that you're ever going
to put on your all time lists of favorite movies or
anything like that but it's good harmless fun.
It's a sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth
which Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson. Fraser
played the uncle to Hutcherson's character in that
movie, in this movie it's basically the same thing
but with Dwayne Johnson playing Hutch's stepfather.
Also in the cast is Luis Guzman and Michael Caine
who are both good veteran actors.
It's not really a movie you need to own on Blu
Ray or DVD but if you can't find anything else
on TV one night and this is on then sure go ahead
and watch it. It's not the best movie ever but by
no means is it a bad movie, it's better then a lot
of garbage out there. - Maniac-9 from St. L
