Movies. This is a great set, with the picture quality
and sound very good. And all the movies have closed

packaging of this set are excellent!!

DRACULA(1931)

This is a great movie! Although, it ends very abruptly!!
Kinda like they where, even in 1931, already planning
a sequel!!!! Which of course happened several times!!!!!
But even with an abrupt ending, the greatness of the
movie is not dimmed!! Well deserving of the term classic
in every way! A

A review from IMDb.com:

I suppose we all have differing opinions on what is scary
and what isn't. For my money though, this film tops my list.
I have seen many a horror film, but few have made me
shiver as this one did.The creepy silence virtually throughout
the movie, coupled with Bela Lugosi's intimidating presence
and Dwight Frye's chilling performance as Renfield(remember
the eyes and the laughter?)give me chill bumps on top of
chill bumps just thinking about it.Yes,the movie has flaws,
but they are few and far between.Hey,it was 1931 after all,
and movie making was still in it's infancy.I have seen the
various opinions on this film, good and bad, and while it
may not top a lot of people's list when it comes to scariest
movie ever,it sure tops mine.Bone chilling! - SmileysWorld

Cast of Dracula:

Bela Lugosi ... Count Dracula
Helen Chandler ... Mina
David Manners ... John Harker
Dwight Frye ... Renfield
Edward Van Sloan ... Van Helsing
Herbert Bunston ... Doctor Seward
Frances Dade ... Lucy
Joan Standing ... Maid
Charles K. Gerrard ... Martin (as Charles Gerrard)

DRACULA IN SPANISH(1931)

Same movie as Dracula, but in Spanish! I don't speak
Spanish, but this does have English subtitles, so I
was able to watch it and understand what's going
on here!! But because I don't speak Spanish, I don't
really know how well they did in presenting the
script written for them. However, I will say that
Rubio does a great job of being the crazy Renfield! B

A review from IMDb.com:

Though it lacks the power of the Lugosi version, this
is still an entertaining film. Even though both versions
had in the same basic script and sets, the Spanish version
tends to make better use of them. The Lugosi film lacks
some of the atmosphere provided by the director of this
version.

However, there can be no argument that the casting of
the lead is what makes the English film seem superior.
Lugosi had the presence, the elegance, and the power
to play an immortal and hypnotic monster. His Spanish
counterpart has good technical ability, but he lacks
Lugosi's charisma.

I also feel that some of the supporting characters,
Renfield in particular, lack the personality found in
the English version. Still, a good movie, and well worth
seeing along with the other version. - MisterGlass

Cast of Dracula:

Carlos Villarias ... Conde Drácula (as Carlos Villar)
Lupita Tovar ... Eva
Barry Norton ... Juan Harker
Pablo Alvarez Rubio ... Renfield
Eduardo Arozamena ... Van Helsing
Jose Soriano Viosca ... Doctor Seward
Carmen Guerrero ... Lucia
Amelia Senisterra ... Marta
Manuel Arbo ... Martin

DRACULA'S DAUGHTER(1936):

This follow-up to Dracula was, while not as great
as the original, really quite good! Dracula's
daughter shows up to try and release herself from
the same curse that her father had! Very well done
and definitely better than most of the current type
"horror" movies being made, which are really nothing
more than "slasher" movies, trying to see which one
can show the most gore!!!! B+

A review from IMDb.com:

To be honest I normally shy away from reviewing the
classics. Rather stick to the lesser known shadowy obscure
films to warn you about and/or poke fun at. But every so
often there is a film that has a bad rap that is undeserved
or the film is misunderstood and ol skip has to scream at
the injustice. Dracula's Daughter is such a film.

There is no need to go into the plot in detail.Dracula's
daughter appears in London. She steals and burns
Dracula's corpse. Thus she feels she is free of the taint
of vampirism with the death of her father. But she isn't
and tries to enlist the aid of a psychiatrist to help cure her.

The film is atmospheric, foggy and great fun. Gloria
Holden is superb as the Countess and Pichel is slimily
evil as her human familiar. The drawback to the film
is the extremely obnoxious leading man who is totally
unsympathetic and unprofessional(but yet true to life).

This isn't hampered by the drawing room bound settings
that slowed Dracula to a halt. Definitely a classic to
enjoy! - evilskip

Cast of Dracula's Daughter:

Otto Kruger ... Jeffrey Garth
Gloria Holden ... Contessa Marya Zeleska
Marguerite Churchill ... Janet
Edward Van Sloan ... Prof. Von Helsing
Gilbert Emery ... Sir Basil Humphrey
Irving Pichel ... Sandor
Halliwell Hobbes ... Hawkins (as Halliwell Hobbs)
Billy Bevan ... Albert
Nan Grey ... Lili
Hedda Hopper ... Lady Esme Hammon
Claud Allister ... Sir Aubrey (as Claude Allister)
Edgar Norton ... Hobbs
E.E. Clive ... Sgt. Wilkes

SON OF DRACULA(1943):

This is actually better than the previous Dracula's
Daughter! Pretty good story, good acting, good music,
and outstanding sound and video! A

A review from an IMDb.com customer:

An incredibly atmospheric film! One of Chaney's best!
Cinematography and direction are excellent! This was
a third in the line of Dracula films for Universal. The
story line does not take place in the Carpathian Mountains
but in the deep south. Count Alucard arrives at his new
destination seeking new blood! The six foot two and one
half inch massive Lon Chaney Jr. strikes an imposing
figure as Count Alucard, both brutal and powerful! Chaney
makes a convincing member of the undead! Chaney
was a major horror star at Universal, when he was
making this film. He would become the fourth legendary
horror king in American cinema after his father, Bela
Lugosi, and Boris Karloff! All the actors are excellent.
Louise Allbritton is very alluring and beautiful, as
Katherine Caldwell Thirsting for knowledge about
the undead! Her performance is also superb! Robert
Paige is stand out in his performance as a man on the
brink of madness, as he is slowing going insane! A
truly incredible performance! The dark moodiness
of the film transcends perfectly! There are many
great atmospheric scenes to name just a few, when
Chaney materializes on the top of a coffin, that
has just risen out of the swamp, and when Allbritton
passes though the bars to see Paige. The misty vapor
that leaves the coffin and transforms into a bat!
And the transformatiom scenes from man into bat
are excellent! The film has some film noir overtones,
director Robert Siodmak, went on to do the
incredible film noir classic (THE KILLERS).The
incredible ending is one of the best in Universal
horror! This film is a truly underrated
classic! - rudystevens422

Cast of Son Of Dracula:

Robert Paige ... Frank Stanley
Louise Allbritton ... Katherine Caldwell
Evelyn Ankers ... Claire Caldwell
Frank Craven ... Dr. Harry Brewster
J. Edward Bromberg ... Prof. Lazlo
Samuel S. Hinds ... Judge Simmons
Adeline De Walt Reynolds ... Madame Zimba (as Adeline DeWalt Reynolds)
Pat Moriarity ... Sheriff Dawes (as Patrick Moriarity)
Etta McDaniel ... Sarah
George Irving ... Col. Caldwell
Lon Chaney Jr. ... Count Dracula aka Count Alucard (as Lon Chaney)

HOUSE OF DRACULA(1945):

This is worth a watch just to see all the biggie
baddies in one movie together! This boasts three
of the men who were responsible for some of the
monster lore gone before, Lon Chaney as the Wolf
Man, Glen Strange as Frankenstein's monster and
John Carradine as Dracula! While the movie is pretty
much a lightweight in the monster movie legacy,
it still is fun! B+

A review from an IMDb.com customer:

This creepy sequel to 'House of Frankenstein',
has a doctor (Onslow Stevens) trying to revive
the monsters (Glenn Strange and Lon Chaney,
Jr.) after becoming infected with the blood
of Dracula.

All the atmospheric effects are present and
there's a chilling performance by John Carradine
whose gaunt appearance makes him a perfect
choice for the Dracula part. The special effects
involving his transformation are smoothly handled,
as of course are the Wolfman's makeup change
under the full moon. By this time, Universal had
perfected many of these techniques and the
effects are sometimes startlingly realistic. Lionel
Atwill has a brief part as the village police chief
and Martha O'Driscoll and Jane Adams provide
the feminine interest.

But the main honors go to Onslow Stevens as
the doctor who mistakenly inherits vampire
tendencies--a sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
role that he does extremely well. A fright
film that doesn't disappoint, entertaining
all the way. - Neil Doyle

Cast of House Of Dracula:

Lon Chaney Jr. ... Lawrence Talbot / The Wolf Man (as Lon Chaney)
John Carradine ... Count Dracula
Martha O'Driscoll ... Miliza Morelle
Lionel Atwill ... Police Inspector Holtz
Onslow Stevens ... Dr. Franz Edelmann
Jane Adams ... Nina
Ludwig Stössel ... Siegfried (as Ludwig Stossel)
Glenn Strange ... The Frankenstein Monster
Skelton Knaggs ... Steinmuhl
