MAD MAX SET

The complete Mad Max set of movies!

MAD MAX(1979)

Released as a separate DVD!

First off this is an Australian film, with heavy
accents throughout! Secondly, Mel looks like he's
12! Third off, there is no acting whatsoever in
this! And lastly, there appears to be no plot
whatsoever!! A lot of violence, and I think this
is pretty boring! C

A review from IMDb.com:

Mad Max (1979) is a low budget Aussie film that
became a huge success in the U.S. because of
it's sequel Mad Max 2 a.k.a. The Road Warrior.
Not only did this movie spawned a franchise but
it created a new genre of film (the post apocalyptic
wasteland/road film) many rip-offs and pro wrestlers
inspired by the movie and it's sequels.

Mel Gibson (in his greatest role in my opinion) stars
as "Mad" Max, a cop who has seen too much while
trying to enforce the law in a dying society. After
clashing with the Night Rider, he incurs the wrath
of his bikie buddies Toecutter and co. Toecutter
has to be one of the most scuzziest and at the same
time coolest bad guys. I like the way he tries to justify
him and his crew's actions. Ditto for his right-hand
man Bubba. Beautiful cinematography, fast paced
action and awesome stunts make this movie a winner.

I have seen both versions of the movie (the U.S.
dubbed version and the original Aussie soundtrack).
For full enjoyment stick to the original version
because they sound like real people, not like
cartoon characters or cheesy b-movie villains.
A true winner. - Miyagis_Sweaty_wifebeater

MAD MAX SET
MADE MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR(1981):

This set had both Mad Max 2 and 3 in it!

While better than the first movie, still not my
cup of tea! At least with this one there is a bit
of back story to explain what's happened up to
this point! A little more dialogue, and some decent
action, but not a great movie overall! C+

A review from IMDb.com:

Mad Mad 2, The Road Warrior never fails to
impress. A low budget masterpiece of film-making.
The films gritty kinetic energy is done out on
an open highway in an Australian Desert. A
Future of no law...of no order...of pure survival
amongst those who wish to keep humanity
alive. The film is more advanced than it's
predecessor, toning down on the words and
focusing on the action. It also utilizes Mel
Gibson's youthful heroic image without cliché.
He is a wonderful hero and creation.

The film is a marvel to look upon at times
with it's rapid cuts and car stunts. The actors
all fit well into this world of chaos especially
the little Feral boy and his boomerang. Sexual
images emerge throughout and the homo erotic
undertones lie very close to the subconscious.

The Antagonists and Protagonists play well off
each other. Evil vs Good. The evil in this film
is scary!!! A future after a Mass Destruction where
Gasoline is Gold and Humanity is an endangered
species.

One of my favorite films. - (victor7754@hotmail.com)

MAD MAX 3: BEYOND THUNDERDOME(1985):

A fitting end to a mediocre series of movies! While
not terrible, this jumps around a lot with little focus
on plot or synchronicity! And by this time Mel looks
like we know him today and actually does well with
what he's given here! I'm not a big fan of Tina Turner
and this did nothing to change my opinion of her! Some
of the best acting was done by the children! But even
that was a little wearing! But the battle scenes weren't
bad! Just an ok movie to me, definitely better than the
first movie! C+

From IMDb.com:

Sure it's probably the least good of the Mad Max
films, but it is still entertaining as heck! It is maybe
a little more Hollywood (which is a bad thing) than
the first two. The music is overbearing at times,
and some of the attempts at jokes were very cheap
and American blockbusterish.

One of the main faults that has to be sited with this
one is that the last thirty minutes or so are basically
taken straight from The Road Warrior. The car chase
and then the speech about how a stranger helped
them establish a new society were taken right out
of the 2nd installment.

It still is very creative, and the action has a wonderful
momentum. I love the whole society that finds Max in
the desert. I loved the recitation of their foundation,
and I loved their dialect. I loved Masterblaster. And
Tina Turner was actually cool, too. 8/10 - zetes from
