MY FAVORITE BRUNETTE(1947)
This is a ton of fun with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lemore!
Bob gets framed for a murder when he's mistaken for a
private detective! The ending is worth watching the
whole movie for!! A-
From IMDb.com:
Shortly before his execution on the death row in San
Quentin, amateur sleuth and baby photographer Ronnie
Jackson (Bob Hope), tells reporters how he got there.
Although I have never been a Bob Hope fan, this film
may have changed my mind. Ignoring the title, which
makes little sense and is even more strange because
the film is in black and white, this is a great
noir-ish comedy. Who doesn't like a good private
eye movie, especially when the villain is Peter
Lorre? Even Lon Chaney shows up in a great supporting
role.
While not outright funny, the film still has a fun
atmosphere and a few jokes that really seal its
success. I love the comment fro ma death row inmate
that he won't be voting for the governor if he
doesn't get pardoned. So clever. - gavin6942
