ROMANTIC COMEDY COLLECTION
Four romantic comedy movies!
PLAYING FOR KEEPS(1986):
this really, REALLY bad movie! Acting is bad,
premise isn't too bad, music sucks(except for
one of the last songs during the credits, the
great Stand By Me!!), and even a little t & a
also can't save this! Too bad too, because I
think that as a Disney movie with some really
decent actors this could have been fun! Oh well! D
A review from Amazon.com:
I don't generally find movie actresses attractive;
usually their phoniness shows through all too
obviously...but wow, Marisa Tomei is adorable
(don't tell my wife I said that). This is one of
her (Marisa's, not my wife's) first big-screen
appearances, in an otherwise fairly routine
80's teen comedy that "stars" people like
Daniel Jordano and Michael Penn (Sean's
brother, believe).
Any movie that relies on Harold Gould for
respectability is probably in trouble. But it's
fun and light-hearted, has a good soundtrack,
and isn't mean-spirited, unlike so many other
teen comedies. 103 minutes of big-hair 80's
nostalgia! Rated

A review from Amazon.com:
This is one of those thought provoking movies.
Everyone faces a crossroads in his or her lives
that is a turning point. Four people at those
crossroads die prematurely before they are
able to make a decision, and are fated to
roam the earth until they resolve unfinished
business. Their only human contact to figure
everything out is Robert Downey Jr. The entire
cast was actually very good, and well chosen

A review from an Amazon.com customer:
The sly humor of this movie made me laugh
from start to finish, and I thoroughly enjoyed
the chemistry between David O'Hara and Janeane
Garofalo.
The story is pretty straightforward, but thanks
to a wonderful supporting cast, beautiful scenery,
and great music, the viewer is kept interested all
the way to the end.
Well worth adding to your movie collection. - A Customer

A review from Amazon.com:
This so-so romance is patently predictable. Will
the good girl end up with the bad boy or the nice
guy? The premise would have us believe that a
sleazy, none-too-bright sportscaster (David
Schwimmer) has fallen madly in love with a
classy, intelligent book editor (Mili Avital).
To test her loyalty, Schwimmer asks his best
buddy (Jason Lee) to romance Avital.
The likable aspects of this tired triangle concern
the wraparound narration, featuring the
ever-humorous Bonnie Hunt. She relates this
complicated romance to rapt guests at a wedding.
The marriage in question is between Avital and a
supposed mystery man. The problem is that there
is never much of a mystery. Or much of a
romance. --Rochelle O'Gorman
