A serial from the 30s!!!

THREE MUSKETEERS, THE SERIAL(1933)

John Wayne! Why'd it have to be John Wayne?! Not
my favorite actor! He plays a good guy who gets
involved with a gun-running gang in, um, they don't
say! But it appears to be a place called "Orab" in
the Sahara Desert! Fortunately this also has the
great Noah Beary in it!! Sadly he's only in it for
a very short time! Deceit, betrayal, lots of fights,
fists & guns, on horse, in planes etc! A bad copy
of this makes for an overall pretty boring
movie-watching experience!

Further problems with this is the fact that the
French(U.S. allies) are trying to control an area
of the middle East that they have no rights to,
and the people that are leading an uprising are
the rightful owners of this area! C

Alas, this is more interesting than enjoyable.

The script is rather muddled, and, despite a
high-quality cast, the acting is ... well, to
be polite, lacking.

Some of those good ol' country boys just do not
make very convincing Arabs. (But they sure are
good cowboys.)

John Wayne is today usually billed as the star,
but he was listed fourth in the credits and was
still relatively new in Hollywood at the time of
the release. Even then he was showing the charm
