THE SIN CITY SET PAGE

SIN CITY(2005)

Based on the great Frank Miller's graphic novel, this is an amazing
work of art! Mostly in black and white, with only color added to
accentuate certain elements of the film, this is what would be
called a film noir type of movie!

A lot of blood and guts and gore, most of it done in a very
tongue-in-cheek kinda way, not for the feint of heart! Shot in
several short vignettes that all tie together sooner or later!
Very well done, with music to match the mood, and a slew
of great actors that play their parts to the hilt!! B+

From IMDb.com:

A film that explores the dark and miserable town, Basin City,
and tells the story of three different people, all caught up in
violent corruption.

Although the use of digital filming and CGI is very contentious,
Robert Rodriguez found a way to make it work to his advantage
in a way that may not have been possible with traditional film.
The way the black and white brings the noir to life, blending
smoothly with the rare other colors... it is the only way to bring
a comic book to life. (A similar style is in "The Spirit", which
does not get nearly the respect it deserves.)

This casting is incredible, as it is varied and really brought
the best performances out of Alexis Bledel, Rosario Dawson
and Jessica Alba that their careers ever had. Mickey Rourke
was re-invented, and this may have been one of the last great
Bruce Willis roles. Such a powerful film. - gavin6942

SIN CITY 2:
A DAME TO KILL FOR(2014)

As one would expect, more of the same from the last movie!
Bruce shows up again(even though he's dead!) still trying to
protect Nancy(Jessica Alba)! Also returning is Mickey Rourke
just trying to get by and protecting the oppressed! Frank and
Robert return in cameos, and several of the girls in the
first movie return as bad asses!!

Another great noir piece by Frank Miller! This is shot the same
as the last one, mostly black and white, with color only where
it makes the biggest impression! Another great movie!! B+

From IMDb.com:

Frank Miller came back to make another sin city and he had
to create two new histories to this, the last one of Jessica
and Mickey and the one of Joseph Gordon. The last one was
kinda messed up, i think if you'd remove this one, wouldn't
make any big difference, and it was not the best way to finish
the film. I like when the film ends in the right moment but
it didn't happen here, which is a bad point. A good point is
that this is faithful to the comic books, Frank made the
possible to make the scenes just like it is in the comics.
This film has the same style of the original, which is great
to see, but one thing i didn't like is that some scenes are
based on the scenes of the first film, i think it could be
more original in this aspect. It has room for all the actors.
Joseph Gordon is great, here he's a greedy poker player
and he has amazing abilities to win, but his goal isn't just
money. Mickey Rourke is the best character here, as he
was in the first. He's strong and his scenes are great to
watch, but the real beauty of the film is Eva Green. I
personally like a lot of her and here she's almost every
scene naked, swimming naked, or in bed naked and i
loved it! This film is not that worse than the first but
isn't a great sequel, could be better and maybe one
day we can watch a third film. Watch if you watched
the first, cause if you didn't you won't understand a
damn thing. Worth Watching. - PolicarpoGamer
