SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT(1977):

With Gone With The Wind story telling, acting
of the quality of Lord Of The Rings and the
charisma of Indiana Jones, oh, wait, wrong movie!!
If those are what your looking for, this is the
wrongest of wrong movies to watch!! This IS
however the quisensential bad boy vs Southern
cops movie! With Burt Reynolds, Sally Field,
Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason, this film is one
REALLY long car chase!! No intrinsic value
what-so-ever, just a flat out car-chasing-action
film! A lot of fun!! A-

A review from Amazon:

I guess one reason I love this movie is because
it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is.
It doesn't aspire to great movie-making. It was
just supposed to be 90 minutes of entertainment
on the big screen, and it's still entertaining.
Take your brain off for a while and have fun with
it.

There are hilarious lines, some funny pratfalls
and even a bit of home-grown wisdom: "How ignorant
you are depends a lot on which part of the United
States you're standing on." Or something like that.
I get a kick out of watching the convoy/rocking-chair
scene every time. Makes me wonder how in the world
they got around Birmingham, but that's suspension
of disbelief for you. LOL.

Wish director Hal Needham had remembered that Alabama
State Troopers drive Fords, not Pontiacs, but that's
a small thing. My dad remarked on it every time, though.

It's just cornball entertainment, rare enough these
days. Pop some popcorn and have a blast watching it. - catchick37

SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 2(1980):

Round two, with basically the same cast as the first
movie with the addition of Dom DeLouise!! Dom is
hillarious, the country singers are great and
Gleason and Reed are funny! Burt seems a little bit
out of character for the whole movie til the end,
and Sally at times looks as though this whole
movie is a strain on her! Probably due to the
fact that in real life, Burt and Sally were in
the midst of a break-up! This brings the whole
movie down a bit from the first romp, but still
it has some really great moments and is worth
a watch, especially if you liked the first one! B

A review from IMDb.com:

Big Enos Burdett (Pat McCormick) is running for
Governor of Texas, and uses Bandit (Burt Reynolds)
and Cledus (Jerry Reed) to transport a mysterious
cargo. Cledus enlists the help of Carrie (Sally
Field) who abandons Junior once again to convince
a drunken Bandit to do the run. Surprise, surprise,
the cargo is a giant elephant and mayhem ensues.

The premise is complete nonsense. It's really a
stupid setup to allow the gang to regroup and have
more fun. This time they kidnap doc (Dom DeLuise)
to treat the sick elephant. He adds a bit of fun
that would lead to Cannonball Run. It's all harmless
stupid fun.

Then there's a massive cops versus truckers demolition
derby. That might be worth the watch all by itself.
It's a lot of joyful destruction. - SnoopyStyle

SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT 3(1983):

This is about 1:26, only about 1:19 too long!!
Truly one of the worst movies I've ever watched
that wasn't horror or slasher! No offense to
Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason, but without
Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, this is a total
waste of time! No really great music, nothing
to redeem this(not even the grateutous nudity
that you can only see if you stop the movie or
run it in slow-mo)! Stay away!!!!!(By the Way, I
believe that the reviewer from IMDb was talking
completely tounge-in-cheeck!!) D-

A review from IMDb.com:

This is the funniest comedy I've ever seen from
the 80's. People who put this film down need to
go and see a head surgeon or they need to get
personality shots, because I was laughing all the
way through this movie. Every time I watch this
movie I think of what a brilliant comedian the
late Jackie Gleason was. This movie is a must-see
for all Jackie Gleason fans. - apailate
