BATTLESTAR GALACTICA 2004 - SEASON #1

I will have a listing of the cast, as well as a review
of the series from IMDb after the last episode!

DISC 1:

MINI SERIES:

The beginning of the series, just as with the first
BG, shows the destruction of the home worlds of
the known race of "humans"! This has Adama, Starbuck,
Apollo, Boomer, Boxey, Baltar and even the Cylons!

Now for the issues I have with this: Starbuck is now
female, as is Boomer!!!!! Baltar is not portrayed as
an all evil man, but a dupped one!! Boxey is only in
one episode(tho really this doesn't really bother me
a lot)! And no one appears to know how to act! I
found it hard to make it through the Pilot Mini-Series,
as it was long and not very exciting! There was hardly
any real scenes of the Cylon attacks on the worlds!

They make this sound like a continuation of the
first BG, but then again they don't! It's all really
quite confusing!

My thought so far, if it wasn't broke, don't try
to fix it!!!! This was a great series when it aired
in the 70s, and this has nothing better to offer
over that one! Overall, I give this a B

DISC 2:

Episode 1: 33:

There are so many problems with this series, and
most of them are glaringly obvious in this one!
I have no clue why the producers of this series
would throw in a heavy religious theme to an
otherwise muddled series!!

The ships running from the Cylons keep to a
system of jumps to try to stay ahead of them
and thereby buy themselves some time to
to eventually hide somewhere! But I really am
turned off by all the religious malarky!!!! B-

Episode 2: WATER:

This turns away from the previous episode's
penchant for pounding religion down the
throats of the viewers, thankfully!! It is
a much more palatable episode that was
entertaining, though somewhat confusing!
Still, the series takes a turn for the better
and concentrates more on the actual story
line! B

Episode 3: BASTILLE DAY:

After the events of the previous episode, the command
crew of BG is desperate to find more water for the
fleet and turn to the convicts that are incarcerated
for various crimes! B

Episode 4: ACT OF CONTRITION:

Starbuck(female) blames herself for the death of
Adama's son! She is asked to train a bunch of pilots
after an accident kills several, but she is having difficulty
in carrying this out because of her guilt!! This is actually
pretty good! B

DISC 3:

Episode 5: YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN:

Kara is on a training mission when Cylons
attack the group!! She tells them to get
back to the ship while she takes care of
them! They get safely back to the ship,
but she goes missing, and this whole
episode is about Adama and crew setting
out to find her!!

As a sub-plot, on Caprica, occupied by the
Cylons, Sharon and Captain "Helo" Agathon
are trying to find a way off, or at least he is,
and all the while he's being watched by the
Cylons!!

These episodes are really getting better
and better as they go along! Sill wish they
had not used the same names for totally
different kind of characters from the
original!!! B+

Episode 6: LITMUS:

This one is basically about a witch hunt, all
started by a Cylon who sneaks aboard the
Galactica for reasons of sabotage!!! This
in turn reveals the relationship that Chief
Tyrol is having with a crew member, who
also happens to be a Cylon(but neither one
know it)!!! B+

Episode 7: SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION:

Never piss off a lady Cylon!! Baltar's had a
tiff with his lady Cylon friend and she's
raising Hell in his life!! And she's come to
life and is accusing Baltar of treason!!!

Here we have a huge step backward as they
bring back religion to the show!!! A big disappointment!!

Sub-plot: the flight crew are trying to get the
craft to work that Kara brought back from the
planet, and back on Caprica, Sharon is putting
the moves on Helo!! B

Episode 8: FLESH AND BONE:

A Cylon is discovered on one of the ship, the same
one that Adama had contact with earlier!! The
President is determined to have it interrogated
at all costs!! Hmmm, wonder why!!! Said Cylon
says he has hidden a neuclear bomb on one of
the ships!! B

DISC 4:

Episode 9: TIGH ME UP TIGH ME DOWN:

The President is suspicious of Adama, thinking
that he might be a Cylon!! Of course this makes
her look like a Cylon!!! On the other hand, Adama
has brought back to the ship Saul's wife, who has
been missing ever since the holocaust!!

And back on Caprica, Sharon is definitely not
acting very Cylon-like, as she is frantically trying
to save her and Halo!! B+

Episode 10: THE HAND OF GOD:

The fleet is dangerously low on fuel!! Luckily
they find a large asteroid made entirely of the
element that they need!! Unfortunately, the
Cylons have gotten there first!!! B+

Episode 11: COLONIAL DAY:

A lot happens here!! First things first, this guest
stars Richard Hatch(ummm, Battlestar Galactica!!
the real one!!) He plays an ex-con that ends up
forcing an election for a Vice-President, then ends
up running for the office!! One thing leads to another
and Baltar is put up as an apponant!!

While back on Caprica, Halo and Sharon have
hatched(no pun intended!) a plan to steal a Cylon
ship to get off the planet!! This episode is
quite good!! A

Episode 12: KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING PT. 1:

This one starts out really strange!! And then
gets stranger!!! The "rag tag" group discover
what they believe is Kobol, the legendary planet
that is suppose to lead the group to Earth!!
Meanwhile, back again on Caprica, Halo now
doesn't trust Sharon at all, and is in quite a
quandry in what to do, as he still has feeliings
for her, as she does for him!!!

Episode 13: KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING PT. 2:

Shit hits the fan as Adama finds out that Kara has
been sent on a mission back to their home world
to pick up a vital piece that is to help them all find
Earth!! This brings much unrest on the ship!! Meanwhile,
while the survey team is scoping out the planet that
they believe is Kobol, they are attacked by Cylons who's
gotten to this planet first!!

And then we have Halo and Sharon, she reveals what
we all knew a few episodes ago to Halo, much to
his dismay!!! A

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE SERIES LOWDOWN:
An overall rundown of the series!!!

A review from IMDb.com:

This show is so messed up that the writers had
to pull a "Deus ex machina" to tie up loose ends
in the finale!!!

The producer of the show wants us to believe that
it is a very deep scifi drama when in reality is just
a pretty dull drama with some robots in it. I believe
that the show was written as they moved along
without a clear idea of what to do next. The series
has interesting concepts and ideas. Sometimes
the series gained some momentum, but it fizzled
away very quickly.

The people from this far far away planet called
Caprica celebrate what they call "baby-showers",
drink "wine" and "champagne", suffer from some
strange sickness called "cancer" eat sushi etc etc.
There is no creativity in the writing!!! Everything
looks and feels like today Earth!!! Even the
characters behaviors!! If I want to see an earth
like drama I'll watch 24, ER or The Bold and Beautiful!

I did not feel the characters struggle to survive.
Starbuck and Apollo tried tooo much to be "cool"
and "tough". I hated both characters. Adama cried
tooo much for a seasoned commanding officer.

The couple of seasons of Babylon 5
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105946/ dealing
with the Shadow war kicks the whole galactica
series ass.

I really wanted to like this show. I watched every
episode, but at the end I still cannot recommend
it. - anacleto_biloba
