COLUMBO MOVIES 1994-2003
One of the best detective shows ever on TV, this started
out with the movie Prescription Murder and the fallow-up
movie Ransom For A Dead Man, which are both on this set!!
One of TVs greatest stars, Peter Falk, leads the series
and does a bang up job!
Just one more thing: This is backwards from almost all other
detective show in that you get to see what happened just as
the episodes start and then watch as Columbo figures it all
out!
Just one more, more thing: Very strange formatting on the
DVDs, when you play an episode, there's no way to go back
to the menu!!!!!!
1: BUTTERFLY IN SHADES OF GREY(Feb. 20, 1991):
Shatner plays a radio talk show host who is kind
of like the shock radio shows of today, and he
kills a man who is trying to help his daughter
get a book published!
Guest starring: William Shatner returns!! A
2: UNDERCOVER(Apr. 29, 1991):
This is all about a bank robbery in the past and a
set of puzzle pieces that is supposed to lead to the
loot!
Guest Starring: Burt Young(Rocky movies, Chinatown), a
returning Tyne Daley & Ed Beagley Jr.! A
EPISODE 3: STRANGE BEDFELLOWS(Dec. 15, 1991):
A man who has race horses kills his brother because he
is a gamblerholic and owes a bunch of money to a takes
bets(a bookie)! !
Guest starring: Rod Steiger(On The Waterfront, Mars Attacks),
George Wendt(NORM!)! A
4: A TRACE OF MURDER(Mar. 19, 1992):
Really twisted tale of a man and woman wanting to get
rid of a business rival of her husband's and frame him
for it!
Guest starring: Barry Corbin(The Thorn Birds, Northern
Exposure, The Closer), Franklin Cover(The Jeffersons)!! A
5: ASHES TO ASHES(Nov. 22, 1992):
A funeral home director kills his ex-wife!
Guest starring: Rue McClanahan(The Golden Girls),Ron Masak
(Happy Days), Sally Kellerman(Star Trek: TOS episode "Where
No Man Has Gone Before", M*A*S*H[movie]), a returning Patrick
MacGoohan!! A
6: MURDER WITH TOO MANY NOTES(Oct. 31, 1993):
A well-known music director/writer kills his up-and-coming
protoge!
Guest starring: Rue McClanahan(The Golden Girls),Ron Masak
(Happy Days), Sally Kellerman(Star Trek: TOS episode "Where
No Man Has Gone Before", M*A*S*H[movie]), a returning Patrick MacGoohan!! A
7: COLUMBO LIKES THE NIGHTLIFE(Oct. 31, 1993):
What a sad way to end this wonderful series! It's incredibly
boring with really bad music!! Still it is Columbo!
Sadly, this final episode has no known guest stars in it! B
From another reviewer at IMDb.com:
I can't believe there are so few reviews on this, Columbo
is one of the defining detectives on television. He's so
low key, so unimposing, and it's a pleasure watching him
take down all those criminals that think they are are smarter
than him, better than him because of, well how little and,
well how wrinkled and cheap he appears.
He's the opposite of so many detectives on television these
days, the everyman solving crimes.
It's just a brilliant approach to a character, and one that
is fantastically fun to watch. - generationofswine
