COLUMBO SEASON 3(1971)

One of the best detective shows ever on TV, this started
out with the movie Prescription Murder and the fallow-up
movie Ransom For A Dead Man, which are both on this set!!

One of TVs greatest stars, Peter Falk, leads the series
and does a bang up job!

Just one more thing: This is backwards from almost all other
detective show in that you get to see what happened just as
the episodes start and then watch as Columbo figures it all
out!

Oh, and one more thing: This is released in the absolute worst
way DVDs can be, double sided!!!!!!!!

EPISODES 1: LOVELY BUT LETHAL(Sept. 23, 1973):

The owner of a well-known beauty company accidentally
kills the maker of a highly sought after beauty cream!

Guest starring: Martin Sheen(West Wing), Vincent Price, Vera
Miles(Psycho)! A

EPISODES 2: ANY OLD PORT IN THE STORM(Oct. 07, 1973):

A man and his uncle plan a way to get a bunch of money
by faking his kidnap, but the uncle has other plans!

Guest Starring: Donald Pleasance(The Great Escape, You Only
Live Twice, Escape From New York), Dana Elcar(MacGyver, The
Sting, Dark Shadows), Gary Conway(Land Of The Giants, Burke's
Law, ! B

EPISODE 3: CANDIDATE FOR CRIME(Nov. 04, 1973):

A candidate for the Senate is told that he can no longer
cavort with his mistress, and the dude promptly kills the
guy that told him, his campaign manager!

Dipite having the great Jackie Cooper, this is one of the
lesser episodes(still better than most other TV!!!)!

Guest starring: Jackie Cooper(Superman I II III & IV, Hennesey),
Joanne Linville(Star Trek: TOS episode "The Enterprise Incident),
Ken Swofford(Murder She Wrote, Ellery Queen)!! A-

EPISODE 4: DOUBLE EXPOSURE(Dec. 16, 1973):

A man who specializes in ads turns his talent toward
killing his boss!

Another great episode!

Cassidy plays a publisher who kills off a writer,
or two!

Guest starring: Mickey Spillane(Mike Hammer), Mariette Hartley
(Star Trek: TOS episode "All Our Yesterdays"), Jack Cassidy
returns! A

EPISODE 6: MIND OVER MAYHEM(Feb. 10, 1974):

A scientist who's son is up for an award is told by
an associate that he knows that his son didn't come
up with the idea but stole it from another scientist!

Guest starring: Jose Ferrer(Caine Mutiny, Cyrano De Bergerac,
Mulan Rouge), Robert Walker Jr.(Star Trek: TOS episode "Charlie
X", Robert is the son of Robert Walker who was in the great
Alfred Hitchcock movie Strangers On A Train), Arthur
Batenides(Star Trek: TOS episode "That Which Survives"),
Robby The Robot(Forbidden Planet)!! A

EPISODE 7: SWAN SONG(Mar. 03, 1974):

overbearing and blackmailing wife!

Not a big fan of this one!

Eve)! B

EPISODE 8: A FRIEND IN DEED(May 05, 1974):

Basically the same story as Strangers On The Train!
A police commissioner covers for his next door neighbor
when he kills his wife, then the commissioner kills his
wife and tells the neighbor that he has to cover for him!

Guest starring: Richard Kiley(Star Trek: DS9 episode "Second
Sight"), Arlene Martel returns! A

From another reviewer at IMDb.com:

I can't believe there are so few reviews on this, Columbo
is one of the defining detectives on television. He's so
low key, so unimposing, and it's a pleasure watching him
take down all those criminals that think they are are smarter
than him, better than him because of, well how little and,
well how wrinkled and cheap he appears.

He's the opposite of so many detectives on television these
days, the everyman solving crimes.

It's just a brilliant approach to a character, and one that is fantastically fun to watch. - generationofswine
