DARK SHADOWS COLLECTION #7

Set 7 of Dark Shadows, continuing on in 1795 about
Barnabas(the only character besides Vicky to keep
their name), Joshua(Roger), Jeremiah(Burke), Millicent
(Carolyn) etc.! I believe this will be the last set I
get, as the series just took a terrible turn with the
going in the past arc!

Sadly there are still no closed captions!!

EPISODE # 453: March 20, 1968:

Daniel is concerned about Millicent being kept under
lock and key! Nathan tells him that she's crazy! And
that he is his legal guardian! He catches Vicky and
Peter at the old house!! A-

EPISODE # 454: March 21, 1968:

Vicky's dream makes her realise that Daniel's in
grave danger!! Daniel, in his infinite wisdom, tells
Nathan that he is going to talk with Naomi and ask
her to adopt him so Nathan won't have control over,
him! Nathan goes to Noah with plans of him killing
Daniel! B

EPISODE # 455: March 22, 1968:

Things go from bad to worse for Vicky, Daniel &
Peter! Noah tracks down Daniel, Vicky shoots him,
Peter comes back just in time to see him on the
ground and Nathan catches him bending over his
body!! Millicent is quite mad at this point!

A humorous aside here, both Vicky and Naomi mistakenly
call Daniel David!! B

EPISODE # 456: March 25, 1968:

A battle for control between Nathan and Naomi!!
She sends Daniel to the authorities to identify
Noah's body and he tells her of Barnabas! B+

EPISODE # 457: March 26, 1968:

After Naomi discovers the truth about Barnabas, she
has a hard time dealing with it!! She tells Ben to
tale Damiel to town and away from Collinwood! Ben
confronts Nathan and things don't go so well! And
finally, Banabas calls Millicent to him, and Naomi
witnesses the horror! B+

EPISODE # 458: March 27, 1968:

Joshua returns just in time for Naomi to run to
him, telling him about Barnabas and Naomi!!!
Naomi crumbles under the pressure of it all and
tries to kill herself! B+

EPISODE # 459: March 28, 1968:

Another death in the family! Things are coming
to a head between Nathan & Barnabas!! Joshua's
attitude in this is unrealistic!! B+

EPISODE # 460: March 29, 1968:

The final episode in the 1795 arc!! And one final
"death"! A-

EPISODE # 461: April 01, 1968:

Back in 1966, Vicky is very confused and overacting,
and Barnabas is the only one who knows the truth!! B+

EPISODE # 462: April 02, 1968:

Julia tries to find out information from Vicky by
hypnosis! Barnabas is afraid Vicky knows his secret
and is prepared to do anything to stop it! B

EPISODE # 463: April 03, 1968:

Vicky buys a portrait of, of all people, Angelique!!
Barnabas tries to destroy it, to no avail!! B

EPISODE # 464: April 04, 1968:

Roger is enthralled by the painting! And he is having
thoughts from the past, waaaaaaay past!!! A decendant
of Ben Stokes arrives at Collinwod and wants to buy
the portrait! He says he's very interested in the past
and believes that the portrait is part of it all! B+

EPISODE # 465: April 05, 1968:

Joe Haskal shows up and jolts Vicky's memory of what
she went through in the past by finding the bracelet
from the past at the jail!! On the way to the cemetary,
Vicky thinks she sees Peter and the car she and Barnabas
are in crashes!! B+

EPISODE # 466: April 08, 1968:

Vicky and Barnabas wind up in the hospital!! "Peter"
(now known as Jeff Clark) goes to visit her! This
episode introduces a Dr. Eric Lang, who suspects the
truth about Barnabas!! B

EPISODE # 467: April 09, 1968

Dr. Lang tells Barnabas he can cure him! Meanwhile, Roger
becomes more and more attached to the portrait of
Angelque! Angelique takes power over Roger and has him
torture the good doctor!!

The Barnabas story line has been fun, but I am so
not enamored with the Angelique story line! So much
so that I believe I will probably not buy any more
of the DVDs!! B

EPISODE # 468: April 10, 1968

One of the side effects of Barnabas' treatment has
been that Vicky(and presumably Carolyn) are released
from the vampire curse! And we find out that the good
doctor, as well as Mr. Clark, aren't all that they
appear to be!!

painting is putting him under calls for him to
do something, but we don't know what!! B-

Vicky goes to Barnabas and tells him that she can
no longer marry Barnabas!! Of course this makes him
very happ - oh, no - upset!! He decides to quite the
treatment with Dr. Lang, but Dr. Lang talks him down,
at least for the time being! And then in walks
Harry Johnson, the spitting image of Noah Gifford!
Lang tells Barnabas that he can change his looks
to that of Jeff Clark!! B

EPISODE # 472: April 16, 1968

This takes a very "Frankenstein" turn here!!!! AND,
Roger is acting quite strangely! He first goes to Dr.
Lang's office to kill him, then offers the painting
to Timothy Stokes! But suddenly, the painting is blank!
Low and behold, magically, it has suddenly re-appeared
back at Collinwood!! B

EPISODE # 473: April 17, 1968

Angelique!! Why'd it have to be Angelique?!! Did no
tell Dan Curtis that this character was a show killer?

one day! The woman is Angelique in disguise! Of course

From a reviewer at IMDb.com:

Like many people I used to rush home from grammar
school to see this Gothic soap opera. I distinctly
remember being petrified of the werewolf and running
out of the room when Barnabas bit somebody.

Seeing it now it's still sort of creepy. It moves
very slow (of course) and the black & white seasons
are extremely dull with really pathetic special
effects and threadbare settings. But when the
series switched to color and started to really
be popular (in 1967) it really got going. The
special effects improved, the settings and
costumes got more elaborate and the plot lines
went barreling out of control. Also they had
a good cast who played all their roles seriously.
That's good, because if they had camped it up
or winked at the audience it would have fallen
apart.

A good, fun horror soap. It's a good thing
it's available on video and DVD now. - preppy-3
