HART TO HART SEASON 5 PAGE

HART TO HART SEASON 5

The last regular season of Hart To Hart, it's taken me a while
to figure out what's different about this season. There's not
quite as much hugging, kissing, ect as in the first four seasons!!

But this is still a wonderful series starring the great Robert Wagner,
Stephanie Powers & Lionel Standerl!! Just seems to lack the closeness
between the main characters as in previous seasons!

EPISODE # 1: TWO HARTS ARE BETTER THAN ONE(Sept. 27, 1983):

The Harts, along with Max, are in London for a
vacation!! They're talking about how wonderful
it was the first time they were there. Then Jennifer
reminds Jonathan just how bad it really was!!

Guest starring David Warner(Star Trek V: The Final
Frontier, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)!! A+

EPISODE # 2: STRAIGHT THROUGH THE HART(Oct. 4, 1983):

Harts now in Buenos Aires!! First scene is of a couple
of dudes pulling off a robbery of a very large emerald!
One of the dudes is a polo player where Jonathan plays
polo, and he gives Jonathan one of his mallets which
just happen to hold the emerald in it!!

Guest starring the great Rossano Brazzi(South Pacific)!! A

EPISODE # 3: HOSTAGE HARTS(Oct. 18, 1983):

Next up - the French Riviera! Where a diamond tiara, one
given to Josephine by Napoleon, has been unearthed after
having gone missing for 150 years!! It's going up for auction
and Jonathan's going to go to Paris to bid on it!! Problem is,
there are others who want it, but don't want to pay for it!! A

EPISODE # 4: PANDORA HAS WINGS(Oct. 25, 1983):

Jonathan is drafted!!!! OK, well not really, he's been called
back up by the Navy to help with a new, revolutionary defense
project that his company helped with by supplying the parts for
it!!

Guest stars include: Dana Elcar(McG!yver), Ethan Phillips
(Star Trek: Voyager, Benson), & John Considine(Brother
of Tim Considine[Many, MANY Disney movies, including
"The Shaggy Dog" "The Hardy Boys" & "Spin & Marty", as
well as My Three Sons])! A

EPISODE # 5: HARTS AND HOUNDS(Nov. 1, 1983):

Back in England again, for a fox hunt this time!! Meanwhile,
the Lady Of The House is having nightmares about someone
trying to kill her!! It becomes obvious that this isn't just a
dream!! And sure enough, someone does get killed!!! A

EPISODE # 6: LOVE GAME(Nov. 8, 1983):

A lot going on here, with a couple of good guest stars!!
It's all about tennis, and specifically about a tennis
instructor who's giving more than tennis lessons!! And
he's using his bedside manner to make money off the
information that he's getting!!

Guest starring the one and only Batman himself, Adam
West!! Also here is Vijay Armitraj(Tennis Pro), Martina
Navratilova(Tennis Champion), & Lloyd Haynes(Star Trek:
TOS[episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before"])! A

EPISODE # 7: PASSING CHANCE(Nov. 15, 1983):

We're now in Greece!! This time for a motor rally put
on by Jonathan's company! While there, there's a dude
who's out to take over Hart Industries by making it
impossible for Jonathan to get hold of his company
or for them to get hold of him!! A

EPISODE # 8: LONG LOST LOVE(Nov. 22, 1983):

This brings back Jennifer's father(Ray Milland[Dial M
For Murder, The Lost Weekend, many guest starring
roles on TV!]) There's a woman flaunting herself
around Mr. Edwards trying to work her way into the
family!! She of course is a fake, but Jennifer's father
is convinced that she's a long lost daughter!!

Also guest starring in this is Samantha Eggar(Star Trek:
TNG[episode "Family"])! A

EPISODE # 9: HIGHLAND FLING(Nov. 29, 1983):

Jennifer plans to do a piece on her Scottish heritage
and is researching an interesting dude with all kinds
of interesting tales to tell!! Unfortunately he gets killed
and since he's the head of his clan it now comes to finding
a replacement, and Jennifer is one of those possible
replacements!! A

EPISODE # 10: YEAR OF THE DOG(Dec. 13, 1983):

There's a jade dog up for bid that's over 400 years old
and Jonathan wants to buy it for his lovely Jennifer!!
But, there happens to be a Chinese dude who owns
the rest of the set that this comes from and he wants
it even more!! As expected, the Harts end up in China!!

Some really good guest stars here: Soon-Tek Oh(The Man
With The Golden Gun, Babylon 5[episode "TKO"], M*A*S*H
[several episodes], and also on another Robert Wagner TV
series, It Takes A Thief[again several episodes]), Al Leong
(not a well known name, but one of those faces you
know you've seen many times[Die Hard, Lethal Weapon,
Scorpion King, Action Jackson]), George Cheung(Rush
Hour 1 & 3, Lethal Weapon IV, Rambo - First Blood Pt. 2)! A

EPISODE # 11: TRUST YOUR HART(Dec. 20, 1983):

A girl who's been in a coma for seven years finally
wakes up!! She;s been under the watchful eye of
Jennifer, who's taken to the girl almost like a daughter.
The girl's having nightmares about the "accident" that
killed her parents and put her in the coma!! There's
a dude who seems way too interested in this girl!! A

EPISODE # 12: HARTS ON THE RUN(Jan. 3, 1984):

Jennifer witnesses an execution, and now there are
really bad people after her and Jonathan!! Turns out
the two men are part of organized crime, and now
the police wants her to testify against the killer!!

One of the guest stars in this is one of the few women
to star not only in Star Trek: TNG(as Dr. Kate Pulaski),
but also guest star in Star Trek: TOS in two episodes
no less("Return To Tomorrow" & "Is There, In No Truth,
No Beauty), Diana Muldaur(who was also a regular on
McCloud). Also guesting John Davis Chandler(Star Trek:
DS9[episode "Honor Among Thieves"), Greg Finley
(Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within, Final Fantasy X)! A

EPISODE # 13: WHISPERS IN THE WINGS(Jan. 10, 1984):

The Harts are in New York to put on a play for charity!
This starts out kinda weird with the Harts in a theater
with almost no one else there except for a gentleman
"with the theater", and it also appears that there's another
person whom we don't know who he is yet! The Harts are
there to meet up with the director whom, it turns out
isn't actually at the theater!! Very confusing!! But it all
comes together in the end!

This has Robert and Stephanie doing a few vaudeville
acts on the stage!! Quite fun!!

Guest starring Allan Miller(Star Trek III: The Search For
Spock), Michael Horton(Star Trek First Contact, Star Trek
Insurrection, Star Trek: Voyager[episode "Retrospect"],
several episodes of Murder She Wrote as Jessica's
nephew)!! A

EPISODE # 14: MAX'S WALTZ(Jan. 17, 1984):

Max is quite smitten with a wealthy widow!! But she has
become the target of some scam artists and of course he
thinks he's been snubbed by her!!

Guest starring the very famous Dorothy Lamour(Most of
the Bob Hope-Bing Crosby Road pictures!!!), Gregory Sierra
(Star Trek: DS9[episode "Second Skin'"], also on another Robert
Wagner series, It Takes A Thief)!! A

EPISODE # 15: THE DOG WHO KNEW TOO MUCH(Jan. 24, 1984):

This starts out at a dog show, where Freeway is the star,
at least in the miscellaneous category!! While waiting for
his turn, Johnathan is asked to watch another guy's dog
then runs off!! Seems that there is more interest in dogs
than one would think!!

Guesting in this is Kenneth Tigar(Star Trek: Voyager[in the
episode "Displaced"], Star Trek: TNG[episode "Symbiosis"]),
Mary Woronov(Babylon 5[episode "Born To The Purple"]),
James Saito(Star Trek: Voyager[episode "The 37's"]) !! A

EPISODE # 16: SILENT DANCE(Jan. 31, 1984):

The Harts come upon a car accident, with the two occupants
being an ice skater and her father, who have just come from
seeing an early run of a planned assassination!! After the
accident the young girl can't hear any more, and the people
responsible are out to silence her and her father, permanently!!

There's some really fine ice skating done here!!

Guest stars include: Ice skating World champions Tai Babilonia
& Randy Gardner!! A

EPISODE # 17: DEATH DIG(Feb. 21, 1984):

In Greece(Rhodes, to be exact), there are smugglers who
are sneaking artifacts out of the country!! There's an
old dude who's on to the whole scheme, but he doesn't
have proof! He's got a right hand man, but he goes missing!
So he approaches Jennifer to try and help him! Things go
very bad, very slowly!! This is one of the slowest and most
boring of all of the Hart To Hart episodes! Even at that,
it's still a lot better than most of the crap out now-a-days!! B

EPISODE # 18: THE SHOOTING(Feb. 28, 1984):

The Harts, along with Max, are going for a vacation out to
their ranch!! Meanwhile, a very well planned escape is pulled
off when a bus with convicts is pulled over by a faux police
car!! Turns out the con busted out is out for revenge against
Jennifer for putting him behind bars!! If this wasn't enough
plot lines, there's a film group doing a shoot for a commercial
for Hart Jeans, and of course, the director decides he wants
Jennifer as the model!! A

EPISODE # 19: SLAM DUNK(Mar. 6, 1984):

Max's nephew is the school's star player, but apparently
there are people that don't want his team to win the big
game!!

Guest stars include Barry Livingston(Stan's younger
brother, My Three Sons) & Julius Harris(Live And Let
Die)!! A

EPISODE # 20: LARSON'S LAST JUMP(Mar. 13, 1984):

While watching an old movie that the Harts took on a ski
vacation with some friends, the automatic shutter keeps
on filming after the Harts have gone away from the camera!!
What it picks up is someone acting very suspicious around
the skis that are on a car! While watching it, the guy that's
there watching the movie with Jonathan and Jennifer puts
something in the cup of his wife, and while they're leaving
the Harts house she collapses!! It appears that he's up to
no good at all!!

Guest starring Ray Wise(Star Trek: Voyager[episode "Hope
And Fear"], Star Trek: Next Generation[episode "Who
Watches The Watchers"])!

EPISODE # 21: ALWAYS, ELIZABETH(May 15, 1984):

Max has had a long distance correspondence with a woman
who lives in New York, and she suddenly decides to come to
California to pay Max a visit!! Problem is, he has kinda fudged
about who he really is, saying that he owns the Hart's house,
and that Jonathan and Jennifer are his butler and maid!!! The
Harts decide to help him out and act as his hired help!! But
there's more going on here, as the lady he's been corresponding
with has become a target of her nephew's who has plans
to rob the Harts(Max)! And the nephew has his own problems
as he owes a lot of money to some hoods!!

Guest starring June Allyson(The Glen Miller Story, was married
to Dick Powell, who owned the house that the television series
was based at!!)! A

EPISODE # 22: MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH(May 22, 1984):

The Harts come home early from a visit to their ranch only
to find it taken over by several people!! They don't know what's
going on, but they are mistaken for some people who are suppose
to be showing up to take Jonathan and Jennifer's place!!

Guest starring the great Patrick MacNee(The Avengers TV show,
The Avengers movie[1998], A View To A Kill)!!

Last show of the series!(But wait, there's more!! 8 movies
follow!!) You can tell by this episode that they all had no
idea that the show wasn't going to be picked up for a sixth
season!! A

From a reviewer at IMDb.com:

Spoiler warning: Don't get too attached to the Harts' friends. Pretty
high mortality count by the end of most episodes!

Seriously, it's Nick and Nora Charles Lite, but with Spelling Productions
you're expecting something profound or fiendish mystery plot twists?
But Spelling always knew how to entertain, and he also had a knack of
hiring top acting professionals. The charm and talent of the three leads
here (the dog Freeway isn't bad either) is obviously the biggest factor
in the show's success. And Spelling did have a knack for great opening
sequences, and Hart to Hart is no exception.

So if you're looking to unwind from the pressure of a tough day, turning
on Cozi or Hallmark Mystery to spend a couple hours with Jennifer and
Jonathan and Max wouldn't be your worst choice for
diversion. - Gary L. Thompson
