LEGEND - THE COMPLETE SERIES PAGE

LEGEND - THE COMPLETE SERIES

First things first, this has NO closed captioning!!!!! BOOOOO!!!

This sounds like an attempt to re-do The Wild Wild West!!
Starring Richard Dean Anderson(MacGyver, Stargate SG-1)
& John deLancie(Star Trek: TNG, DS9 & VOYAGER as Q)!,
the premise is good, the actors are good and the stories
are ok!!

EPISODE 1: BIRTH OF A LEGEND(Sept. 15, 1967):

A Mr. Ernest Pratt is a novelist specializing in adventure dime novels
with the hero being Mr. Nicodemus Legend!! His life is going swimmingly
until he is wanted by Colorado for "changing the flow of a
river, mischief & disturber of cattle!!" So he goes there to clear up
the misunderstanding but they think he is Legend, and chaos ensues!

With deLancie being well known for Star Trek: TNG, he gives
a nod to that series with an "engage"(Captain Picard's famous
line!)! B+

EPISODE 2: MR. PRATT GOES TO SHERIDAN(Sept. 22, 1967):

A much better show than the pilot, this has the wonderful
Steven Baldwin in it as a bank robber accused of killing a security
guard in his last bank heist!!! He turns to Legend to help clear
his name!! A

EPISODE 3: LEGEND ON HIS PRESIDENT'S SECRET SERVICE(Sept. 29, 1967):

Legend hears of a threat to President Grant, and he's asked
by him to find out what's going on!

This guest stars G.W. Bailey(The Closer, Police Academy)!!! B+

EPISODE 4: CUSTER'S NEXT-TO-LAST STAND(Oct. 6, 1967):

An old friend of Pratt's is in the area and has asked him to
meet with her and her husband, General George Armstrong
Custer!! Custer is fighting bureaucrats in Washington over
corruption concerning the supplies that are being given, or
not given, to the troops!! He and his wife try to talk Pratt
into writing about the issue!! As if that wasn't enough, it
appears that there's a psycho out to ruin, or kill, Pratt!!

This one guest stars Alex Hyde-White(son of Wilfred Hyde-
White][Buck Rogers, Indiana Jones & The Last
Crusade])!! A

EPISODE 5: THE LIFE, DEATH, AND LIFE OF WILD BILL HICKOK(Oct. 13, 1967):

Wild Bill Hickok comes to Ernest(Legend) and asks for help
in tracking down a killer!! He's been after said killer for many
moons and says the only way this will end is either he's killed
or Bill is! Of course Ernest is not into this, but is eventually
sucked into helping out!!

These episodes keep getting better and better! This series
really reminds me of Firefly, which was cut way too short!! A

EPISODE 6: KNEE-HIGH NOON(Oct. 20, 1967):

And just when I thought this was getting better, along comes
this story of a woman who is Hell bent on making her son a
character in Pratt's books as his son!! This was really a weak
episode!! B-

EPISODE 7: THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LEGEND(Oct. 27, 1967):

While better than the last episode, still not quite up to
the level that this show can get to!! A con-artist that
is an old acquaintance of Pratt's shows up to town to
"spread the gospel", and to put the good scientist Bartock
out of business!! There's more to it than meets the eye,
and the good guys are bound that they will find out
what's really up!! B+

EPISODE 8: BONE OF CONTENTION(Nov. 3, 1967):

Back to the good episodes!! This one is about a man who
comes to Bartock as he is dying to give him a dinosaur
bone!! This leads the group on a search to find out who
killed him and where the bone came from!! A

EPISODE 9: REVENGE OF THE HERD(Nov. 10, 1967):

So, I had missed the review on this!! I think I
see why! Nic's publisher comes to him and tells
him that he's to be a guide on a hunt to find the
great buffalo, but all that happens is a lot of
trouble with the local Indians!! B-

EPISODE 10: FALL OF A LEGEND(Nov. 17, 1967):

While "courting" a young lady, Ernest and she are interrupted
by her father!! He runs off in a hail of shotgun blasts, then
later the father is found dead!! Pratt is then accused of the
death and goes to trial!! Chaos ensues!! A

EPISODE 11: CLUELESS IN SAN FRANCISCO(Dec. 1, 1967):

In this we have a young woman coming to the group asking
for help in finding her family in San Francisco!! Seems they
were all traveling west when they got separated and she
was raised by Indians!! B+

EPISODE 12: SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET(Dec. 8, 1967):

While doing some filming the group runs across a skeleton
which has a ring on it that indicates that the person was of
Aztec decent, which Ramos is also!! Taking the skeleton to
the local sheriff Ramos receives a very rude welcome and
it bothers him so much he quits the group to find answers
on his own!! Not to fear, the rest of the group soon joins
in on the investigation!! A

From an IMDb.com customer:

This ranks up there as one of my 3 all-time favorite series.
They could not have picked a better cast, from the charming
leads to the quirky minor characters. Anderson obviously
had a ball playing Legend, and he is an absolute scream to
watch. The writing was also delightful, with all sorts of goofy
little touches. The bank robber episode gave me the biggest
laugh I've ever had watching a tv show. Kudos to everyone
involved with the series! It is truly one of television's greatest
gems. And to UPN - since you saw fit to deprive us of this
wonderful series, at least have a heart and bring it back for
an occasional tv movie. - basimah
