NEW ADVENTURES OF CHARLIE CHAN, THE(1957)


The full run of The New Adventures of Charlie
Chan from the 50s! The picture quality is not
really great on these, but the sound is quite
good! And J. Carrol Naish along with James Hong
do a bang up job in their roles!!

A couple of problems:
The dark scenes are way too dark to see what's
going on;
Sadly there are no closed captions!!

EPISODE # 01: Your Money Or Your Wife:

A man who is fearful he's been the target of murder
hires Mr. Chan to find answers! Oh, and his wife has
been kidnapped and the kidnapper wants $50,000!! B

EPISODE # 02: Secret Of The Sea, The:

A steward on a ship is killed and his father asks
Chan for help!! This puts him smack dab in the
middle of a smuggeling ring!! Charlie goes on board
the freighter and several accidents and a death
later, everything becomes clear!! A

EPISODE # 03: Lost Face, The:

Chan gets involved with a big crime king and
it gets semi-personal when a leiutenant's wife
gets injured by one of his goons! A-

EPISODE # 04: Blind Man's Bluff:

A blind man killed and his seeing-eye-dog badly
injured! Chan's out to find out who/why!!

James Hong is here in his first appearance as
Charlie's son!! A

EPISODE # 05: Great Salvos, The:

Chan and son are in the middle of an espionage
ring which involves a pair of mind readers!! A-

EPISODE # 06: The Counterfeiters:

Betcha never guess what this one's about!! Plates
for the Bank of England have been stolen and Chan
and son are on the case!! A

EPISODE # 07: Death Of A Don, The:

I do not understand the meaning of the title!! Anyway,
a friend of Barry's from school is in trouble and Chan
and he try to figure it out! One of the more boring
Charlie Chan's I've ever watched!! B

EPISODE # 08: Charlie's Highland Fling:

While visiting in Scotland, the hosts' wife gets
shot and killed! This leads Charlie and Barry on
the case!! A

EPISODE # 09: Patient In Room 21, The:

While in the hospital in London, Barry and his father
come accross a mystery involving one of the doctors
there that's been accused of being previously in
Canada and convicted of a mercy killing there! B+

EPISODE # 10: Rajput Ruby, The:

A necklace is stolen off the owners neck while touring
the Toweer Of London!! Not only are Chan and son investigating,
but several others are interested in it also!! B+

EPISODE # 11: Final Curtain, The:

An estranged father learns that his daughter is
seeing a less than honorable man! He tries to
tell her but she's not having any of it! The father
gets killed while on the phone with Charlie and
this gets him and Barry on the case! B+

EPISODE # 12: Death At High Tide:

A Nazi war criminal breaks out of prison and
Charlie is hired to find said criminal and the
hidden gold that he's out after!! B

EPISODE # 13: Circle Of Fear

A diamond cutter is attacked and a large diamond
that he was to cut stolen! Chan investigates! B+

EPISODE # 14: Exhibit In Wax

An extremely angry man goes to a wax museum and
proceeds to wack off the head of Edward Simpson,
aka The Brighton Murderer! Seems the attacker was
related to Simpson! And now he's being blackmailed
by persons soon to be discovered!! A-

EPISODE # 15: Backfire

This one's about double-cross, times two!! A man
is locked in a tomb and his identity taken over by
another man who looks a lot like him! A couple of
deaths later, and Charlie and son are trying to
unravel the mystery! A-

EPISODE # 16: Patron Of The Arts

All about a painter who's good but not getting as
much for his paintings as he thinks their worth!
A plan is afoot to make his paintings skyrocket
in value at a very high cost to the painter!! A-

EPISODE # 17: Hamlet In Flames

A very old copy of Hamlet is behind this whole story!
Not the best of these stories!! B

EPISODE # 18: Dateline: Execution

A man set for execution is said to be innocent by
the Padre who's been listening to the man! A-

EPISODE # 19: The Sweater

A miss-step on the sale of a sweater leads ultimately
to death, with Charlie on the the trail of the murderer!! A-

EPISODE # 20: Noble Art Of Murder, The

Charlie's #1 son is tagged for the murder of a sparring
partner and of course Charlie's on the hunt for the
truth!! B+

EPISODE # 21: Three Men On A Raft

Charlie's at a book store when he sees a boy with a
gun aim it at an author doing book signings! He stops
the boy but next thing you know the boys in the hospital!
The gets Charlie interested in finding out just what's
up with the boy! A-

EPISODE # 22: No Holiday For Murder

While on a tour an mean old lady gets killed when she
falls down some stairs! The main suspect is not necessarily
the correct one! And Charlie knows!! A-

EPISODE # 23: No Future For Frederick

After going to a palm reader, an unlikable actor
is told that he has no future! Shortly, he certainly
doesn't! Chan is one the prowl for answers!! A-


EPISODE # 24: Safe Deposit

A bank robbery, and Danny's caught up in it!! B

EPISODE # 25: Voodoo Death

The sound track is off-timed here! A wealthy man
who treats everyone like shit is killed! Many
suspects, two Chans!! B+

EPISODE # 26: The Expatriate

A case of everyone did it!!! B

EPISODE # 27: Airport Murder Case, The

The title of this is quite confusing! The young lady
killed was in a train station, not an airport!!! A-

EPISODE # 28: Hand Of Hera Dass, The

Charlie's hire to find an artifact that's been
stolen in Egypt! A-

EPISODE # 29: Chippendale Racket, The

A man surprises his wife with a pair of candlesticks
and he shows them off to Charlie and son! Charlie
promptly lets him know they're fakes, and the two
go out to set things right!! A-

EPISODE # 30: The Invalid

But is he really??!! A woman in a play winds up
missing for the set that she's working at, along
with Charlie Chan! He's there working as a consultant!
Eventually someone winds up shot while Charlie and
the police are looking on!!!! A-

EPISODE # 31: Man In The Wall, The

An interesting tale of a building being demolished
and a skelton being found in an armoured suit, having
been shot! It apparently had been there for over 15
years!! A-

EPISODE # 32: Something Old, Something New

A man breaks into an apartment/house and while there
a murder takes place! Are they related? Hmmmmm. A-

EPISODE # 33: Man With A Hundred Faces, The

Last appearances of James Hong as #1 son! A man
who's a master of disguise hires Chan to find
out who robbed a bunch of jewelry! A-

EPISODE # 34: Point Of No Return

A man whose wife is quite unhappy being married to
him suddenly appears to die at the local beach! The
most likely suspect, the wife! But, as Charlie is
want to say, "The mostly likely answer is seldom
the correct one"! A-

EPISODE # 35: Bowl By Cellini, A

A man with a very domineering wife forgets their
anniversary and buys a last minute present, a beat
up silver bowl at quite a cost! His wife hits the
roof and insists that he returns it! When he goes
to another dealer, he finds out that it's worth a
fortune! This starts many adventures with Charlie
in tow!

Very similar to the episode "The Chippendale Racket"! A-

EPISODE # 36: Without Fear

Charlie tries to help a young woman who's lost
her memory due to an accident! A-

EPISODE # 37: Kidnap

A man and is daughter show up in Rome and check into
a hotel. she goes to her room, and he disappears!!
The man is and aquantence of Charlie's and he promptly
gets on the case!! A-

EPISODE # 38: Rhyme Or Treason

A man in prison for treason gets his death sentence
reduced to life in prison, but he still maintains his
innocence! His daughter hires Charlie to prove his
innocence! A-

EPISODE # 39: Three For One

A man walks into an atique shop and proceeds to
destroy a very valuable vase! This was the third
such incident for this shop! All friends of the
manager of the shop! And all say they can't remember
anything about the incidents! Chan investigates!! A-

There are no special features in this release!!
