THE CASE OF
THE FATAL FRAMING(1992):
John Rhys-Davies(Indiana Jones movies, Lord
of the Ring movies!!) returns(he was also in the
movie Case Of The Murdered Madame)!! Still
one of my favorite character actors! Also
guest-starring are David Soul(Starsky and
Hutch) and Scott Valentine(Family Ties)!
David is supposed to be dead, so it only stands
to reason that he should be killed again!!
Perry takes the case, and of course gets
the guilty to confess! A
From an IMDb.com customer:
In this Perry Mason mystery, Raymond Burr's
client is Mark Moses who is the husband of
a Christina Faust whom he catches fooling
around with the victim David Soul. A victim
who's supposed to be dead.
Soul is a painter who decided that he's not
going to wait for posterity for acclaim for
his work. He fakes his own death and stays
in Mexico for five years and with the help
of art dealer John Rhys-Davies sells his work
at a considerable profit.
On a trip to Denver Soul comes out of hiding
when he sees a copy of one of his paintings
and rips it to shreds denouncing it as a fraud.
Seems as though someone has been taking
advantage of his 'demise' which like Mark
Twain's proves exaggerated.
Not for long though when Soul winds up
really dead Mark Moses as the jilted husband
zooms to the top of the list of suspects.
In the Mason feature films I used to like how
first William Katt and later Billy Moses used
to get a lot more physical than William Hopper
did on the TV series. Billy Moses has a real
nice fight with another artist Scott Valentine
with Valentine using a chain saw. Valentine
isn't wrapped too tight and he's clearly a suspect.
Turns out two of the cast were in on the
real demise of David Soul. You figure out
which two. - bkoganbing

He is only here long enough to get offed!
Decent enough, but not a big fan of
Geraldo! A-
From an IMDb.com customer:
Following a similar tell-all book authored by
television personality Geraldo Rivera, this
entry in the Perry Mason movie series blurs
fact and fiction by casting Rivera as Ted Mayne,
who is murdered after publishing his own
scandalous tone. The suspect is a TV actress,
who makes the mistake of blowing off steam
over the book by threatening Mayne's life on
camera.
Enter Perry Mason, who uses his usual methods
to uncover the true killer in open court.
This is an average Mason film, with, a final
clue, though plausible, seems too over the
top to be believed, requiring the guilty party
to go "mad" on the stand to pull it off.
The supporting cast is good, with Geraldo
giving a surprisingly effective performance
as Ted Mayne. - Mark-129

THE CASE OF
THE HEARTBROKEN BRIDE(1990):
Guesting Rony Cox(Stargate SG-1, Beverly Hills
Cop), and Linda Blair(The Exorcist)! In this
there is reference to Perry being the uncle
to the bride to be! They never really explain
how Perry is an uncle! Anyway, the bride is
accused of murdering the uncle of her intended
and Perry of course comes to her aid! I thought
this one was pretty good! A
From an IMDb.com customer:
A really nasty tempered drunken individual in
Beau Starr crashes the wedding of his nephew
and confronts the father of the bride over
some ancient grudges. He gets cold cocked
and put to rest on a coach. But later on Starr
is found with a knife in his chest and the would
be bride, Heather McAdam standing over him.
Heather's a reigning pop star like Jessica Simpson
and she's marrying her own Nick Lachey in Adam
Storke. But there's a whole host of suspects.
However she's got one thing in her corner an
'uncle' who's a well known attorney and who
never loses a case.
This is one of the few times where we get a
hint of a relationship with Perry Mason and
someone else. This never happened in the
hour television series back in the day. Of
course he's not a biological uncle, but you
can draw your own conclusion as to what
happened way back when with Raymond
Burr and McAdam's parents, Ronny Cox
and Diane Baker.
I found this film, one of the weaker Perry
Mason stories. Had it not been for the
bride and her fame and the fact that she
was found with the body, the real motive
of the crime would have been apparent
from the start and the police in the person
of James McEachin would have focused
their attention in the right direction.
Still I do love my Perry Mason stories
so. - bkoganbing

been in The Case Of The Poisoned Pen)! Also
guest starring Polly Bergan(probably best known
for being on To Tell The Truth), Morgan Fairchild
(Friends, Falcon Crest, North And South I & II)
& Tippi Hedron(The Birds, Marnie)!
Perry's friend(Patrick), is accused of murdering
his wife, as he was the only other person in the
house when she was killed! Perry, Ken and Della
all have to head back from a fishing expedition
to save the day! Another good entry here!! A
From an IMDb.com customer:
Patrick O'Neal makes his second appearance in a
Perry Mason mystery movie in The Case Of The
Skin-Deep Scandal. In the first Perry Mason film,
O'Neal was the victim for which Barbara Hale
was arrested and Raymond Burr resigned from
the bench to get back into private practice to
defend his old girl Friday.
But in The Case Of The Skin-Deep Scandal O'Neal
is in fact the defendant who is charged with the
murder of his wife Morgan Fairchild. Fairchild is
a beautiful and ruthless cosmetics Queen who
built her empire on O'Neal's money. Now she's
got all kinds of people who've been trampled
on the way up and they're out for blood. O'Neal
looks good for it because Fairchild's been
keeping a boy toy played by Scott Thompson
Baker on the side. But there are a host of
other suspects as is always the case.
The Case Of The Skin Deep Scandal also marked
the farewell performance of Patrick O'Neal who
never failed to be good in a variety of roles he
was cast in. My personal favorite with him has
always been Alvarez Kelly where his performance
of the unctuous Union Major stole the film from
stars William Holden and Richard Widmark.
I think I can safely say that the murder involves
two other members of the cast, one of whom
kills the other in order to not risk exposure on
the Fairchild murder. Billy Moses is also nearly
killed by the same person and of course they
both don't reckon with the research and
deductive powers of ace defense attorney
Perry Mason.
Some of the plot elements are borrowed from
the Billy Wilder film, Fedora. This is one of
the better Perry Mason mysteries, devoted
fans will love it. - bkoganbing

THE CASE OF
THE TELLTALE TALK SHOW HOST(1993):
The second-to-last Perry Mason starring Raymond
Burr!! This is about a radio station owner(Philbin)
who decides to revamp the station, and really screw
up the employees lives!! He, of course, gets killed,
and one of the talk radio personalities(Hartley) is
framed for it!!
Mariette doesn't seem to really be into this movie!
She's quite stiff, playing a psychologist! Too bad,
for in the Star Trek episode she was in she was
really good!!
With guest stars Mariette Hartley(Star Trek: TOS
[episode "All Our Yesterdays"], Regis Philbin and
Montel Williams, both actual talk show hosts in
real life!! Also here is G. Gordon Liddy (a real lawyer
and very active in the political arena! A-
From an IMDb.com customer:
Raymond Burr and the team are called in to
defend Mariette Hartley, a friend of Barbara
Hale's who is a psychologist with call in talk
show on a talk radio station run by Regis
Philbin. When Philbin is shot to death, Hartley
is arrested for his murder.
One big problem with Perry Mason: The
Case Of The Telltale Talk Show Host is
the casting of Regis Philbin as the victim.
Of course as they go in Perry Mason movies
there are loads of alternative suspects.
Philbin was going to revamp his whole
station format and that got all of his stars
very upset. Now Regis is a great host of
a talk show himself, but as a no good slime
bag of a station owner, well let's face it,
the man is not an actor.
In this episode we see who murders Philbin,
it's a contract killing and Hartley is rather
elaborately framed for the crime. The hit-man
however can't get to his money right away
and as it turns out he's one unstable fellow.
I would think you would need better nerves
for that line of work. Anyway his instability
gives away the individual who hires him. In
fact the very elaborateness of the crime
should give you some idea of the murderer
if you look down the cast list.
Still it's a good entry in the Mason series,
but I really would not have cast someone
with that big a reputation as a nice guy as
the mean victim, especially not someone
who couldn't be mean on screen if he
tried. - bkoganbing

Raymond Burr's final case as Perry Mason(in fact, this
is his final screen performance of any kind, as he died
shortly after this was done shooting)!
A former ward of Perry's is an actress in a soap where
the new lead in the show is getting a lot more pull in
it than most everyone thinks he should!!! And so, of
course, he gets killed, and Perry's ward is pegged as
the most likely!!
There are no known guest stars in this one!
This is a very good send off for Raymond!! He has been
sorely missed every since!! A
From an IMDb.com customer:
This final film of Raymond Burr finds Burr as Perry
Mason defending a soap opera star, Genie Francis,
who is accused of murdering her arrogant co-star
who was having her character put into a coma and
effectively out of the show. The kicker is that her
contract would have prevented her from seeking
work elsewhere. Of course the victim, Sean Kanan
was doing these kinds of things any number of
others are prime candidates as a potential killer.
The title Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss
stems from how the victim died. Seems as though
he was allergic to walnuts so a script calling for
him to plant one on Genie Francis was given him
and her lipstick given some walnut oil. Then his
allergy medicine was spiked with enough to put
him into anaphelaptic shock. Effective indeed.
The Case of the Killer Kiss follows the usual Mason
formula, but the real story here is that the film
was made at all. Knowing that the series rose
and fell with him, Burr signed for the season
knowing how ill he was, but also knowing that
NBC would have to make the rest of the season
quota somehow or pay Barbara Hale and William
R. Moses in any event. Hence the 'Perry Mason'
movies with Paul Sorvino and Hal Holbrook
that followed.
A lot of the footage involving Burr was filmed
with him seated or in rear projections or behind
something he could lean on, all to disguise the
pain he must have been enduring in making
The Case of the Killer Kiss. But it was completed
and gave Hale and Moses some additional work
because of the contract.
I always thought that was one of the classiest
things I'd ever read about anyone in show business.
I wish that The Case of the Killer Kiss was as
worthy of Raymond Burr as The Misfits was for
Clark Gable or The Shootist for John Wayne.
Still, I suppose just doing the character for
which he was most known and loved for is in
itself a great tribute. - bkoganbing

With Raymond Burr no longer living, this has
a "guest lawyer" in Paul Sorvino(Law And Order)
as Anthony Caruso! Paul is no Raymond Burr, but
he does a pretty convincing job as a lawyer who's
called upon to defend a friend who's been accused
of murdering her photographer husband!!
Perry's absence is is passed off as him being in London
for a conference!
Guest starring here are several models, Maud Adams
(in two Bond movies, Octopussy and The Man With
the Golden Gun), Shelly Hack (Charlie's Angels)
and Kathy Ireland(Loaded Weapon I)!
From an IMDb.com customer:
With the passing of Raymond Burr, Paul Sorvino
stepped into the brilliant lawyer's part with
interesting results. Sorvino proved his
resourcefulness here but did we have to
have the opera singing? We know that
Sorvino, in real life, could hit the operatic
notes but good, but that wasn't necessary here.
Still, we have a very good story with 4 ex-wives
of a real cad coming together to work with
the latter. Naturally, when the cad, played
with relish by Eric Braeden, is murdered,
suspicion falls on each of the women. Since
his current wife was arguing with him over
his latest flirtation, she is the one who is arrested.
That ending, as always, was totally unexpected
but had the real Mason touch.
Barbara Hale looked like she was grieving
here in her brief stint as Della Street.
William R. Moses, Ken Malansky, had plenty
of physical footwork here and is to be
commended for great physical dexterity.
Or, what there a stuntman involved?
Surprisingly, McEachin, who played the
black detective always sarcastically
involved in words with Mr. Mason, has
none of that here and that is missed. - edwagreen

From an IMDb.com customer:
Maverick lawyer Bill McKenzie returns to
action defending the daughter of a disgraced
politician. The politico was murdered, but
his death was successfully made to appear
as suicide. Several years later, his daughter
finds herself suspected of murdering the
Governor of the state, who she held responsible
for her father's suicide through a political
smear campaign.
Hal Holbrook is great in this role and the
mystery, while engaging is rather disturbing
as McKenzie probes layer upon layer of
political corruption during his investigation.
One can't help but wonder about the political
repercussions after the smoke cleared. It
might have made an interesting film on
it's own. The final revelation, while not
surprising, is clever and ironic.
A treat, this late in the game.
On a side note, reflecting a new courtroom
era, cameras can be clearly seen in the
background, televising the courtroom
proceedings to a large cable audience
no doubt. - Mark-129

The final episode of the epic Perry Mason TV series,
and again with Hal Holbrook at the helm, with only a
quick mention of Perry!!!! This has Wild Bill McKenzie
(Holbrook) defending his niece who's been accused
of murdering an actress! Looks like it's not a good
idea to be related to Bill(a la Jessica Fletcher), as this
is the second niece that he's had to defend!!
Guest starring in this is Holland Taylor(Two And A
Half Men)!!
Very sadly, Barbara Hale is only in this for a very
short time, saying that she's headed to The Hague in
The Netherlands where Perry's arguing a case in front
of the World Court!! She, as well as Raymond, are sorely
missed in this!! But still, as with Hal's other outings in these
movies, this is a good movie with a good story and some
pretty good twists, although I had it figured out in the first
half hour!! LOL!! A
From an IMDb.com customer:
The last of the "Perry Mason" mysteries is a real
treat. Hal Holbrook once again portrays maverick
lawyer Bill McKenzie with style in a tale although
formalic to the extreme contains more than one
