SCARECROW AND MRS. KING SEASON 2
A spy/humor show starring Kate Jackson(Charlie's Angels, The Rookies
& Dark Shadows) & Bruce Boxleitner(Babylon 5, Kenny Rogers As The
Gambler movies), along with Beverly Garland(My Three Sons, Lois And
Clark)!!
An interesting thing here, Lee is constantly telling Amanda to
"stay in the" whatever, just like in Castle, where Kate is doing
the same with Richard!!
EPISODE 1: TO CATCH A MONGOOSE(Oct. 1, 1984):
On a stakeout in London an agent gets killed and it's decided
that it's a guy called Mongoose who killed him!! And of all
people, the only one to have actually seen him is Amanda!!
So they call her in to help out identify him and get him
off the streets!!
An interesting note here, Bruce and Kate are the only two
regulars in this episode!!

EPISODE 2: THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN'(Oct. 8, 1984):
Amanda wins a trip to Germany by getting a lucky can of coffee!!
She and the family are there, and "bump into" Lee!! Ok, the contest
was rigged by the agency, and Lee tells her they need her for a very
simple task, meet up with a dude named Haddy who was a student
protester in the 60's and fled to Europe to avoid jail!! He wants to
come home and he's got a lot of information on a terrorist group
in Germany which he'll trade for a free trip home!! And it's up to
Amanda to meet him for the info!! A
EPISODE 3: DOUBLE AGENT(Oct. 15, 1984):
A man who's just quit the agency has written an expose naming
names and causing all kinds of havoc!! He's pissed off because
he was sent to a remote jungle area!! So the agency is trying
to find a way to stop him!! But what he doesn't know is that the
guys helping him with the book are actually really out to sell the
information to the highest bidder!! Things go from bad to worse
when someone bumps the guy off and steals the manuscript!!

EPISODE # 4: THE LEGEND OF DAS GEISTERSCHLOSS(Oct. 22, 1984):
A spy friend of Lee's is kidnapped while taking some photos
of it(The Geisterschloss) and the surrounding area of Austria!!
Lee calls on Amanda to help him out because his friend(Emily)
has requested her!!

EPISODE # 5: CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME(Oct. 29, 1984):
There's a big goings on that the agency is wanting to know more
about but can't figure out how to get in to the affair! Meanwhile,
Amanda is in charge of the refreshments for a charity event and
isn't available to help out!! But of course, in this show, coincidence
is the norm, and her charity event IS the the same affair that Lee
and crew are trying to get into!!

EPISODE # 6: BRUNETTES ARE IN(Nov. 12, 1984):
Amanda's been helping out at a place where they train guide
dogs!! When she leaves one day, one of women there gets
kidnapped, and it appears that they're also after her!! Meanwhile,
the agency has a job for her to pick up a sock at a laundry which
has a micro dot in it!! While trying to get home, she gets mugged
and they steal her purse, which she put the sock in! It all seems
unconnected til it isn't!!
And Amanda is made to feel guilty about the whole thing by
Lee and decides to quit the agency!!

where he's trying to get some information about a breach in the
intelligence community!! Lee goes off to do his thing and tells
Amanda to go sightseeing, which she does!! She bumps into a
certain Lord Bromfield(Davies), and one thing leads to another
and she gets accused of sleeping with the said, married, Lord!!

Amanda finally gets her chance to go through training!! Also there is
a "ringer", a person who is a trained agent, watching over the class
and grading them as they go along!! Only thing is, there's also an
agent from the other side there trying to figure out who the ringer
is to take them out!! The biggest problem: this agent thinks that
Amanda's the ringer!!!! A
EPISODE # 10: PLAYING POSSUM(Dec. 10, 1984):
There's something going on at the agency and everyone's gone
except for Amanda and Lee!! They get some contact but no knowledge
of what's going on!! Also, there's a Russian agent who's contacted
Lee and Amanda saying that there's three Russian agents in the U.S.
for nefarious reasons but he doesn't know why and asks for Lee's
help!!

him into thinking that he's in the Russian embassy so that they
could get information out of him!!

EPISODE # 12: SHIP OF SPIES(Jan. 7, 1985):
While sending a message to the agency, a man who is an informant
for them gets interrupted, and assumedly killed!! Lee insists that
he was trying to send an important message and talks Billy into
letting him and Amanda go onto the ship, undercover, as an engaged
couple on a wedding cruise!!!! When she finds out what kind of cruise
it is, she balks, but eventually gives in!!

EPISODE # 13: SPIDERWEB(Jan. 14, 1985):
Amanda gets implicated in a security breach that foils a defection
of a dude!! She happens into the same restaurant that the meeting
is held when the defector gets killed by an assassin!! Because of this,
one of the top dudes at the agency points the finger at her, and the
real culprits find out about it and frame her as a real double agent!!

EPISODE 14: A LITTLE SEX, A LITTLE SCANDAL(Feb. 4, 1985):
Amanda witnesses a murder and when she takes the police to
where the car was when she left the scene it has mysteriously
disappeared!! So the cops are less than enthusiastic about the
whole affair and she goes to Scarecrow!! He's busy with a date
that is about to show up, and he brushes her off too!!
And to top it all off the boys have decided to nominate her for
mother of the year and her picture's in the papers, which the
killers have seen and now are determined to go after Amanda!!
The whole mess is based around a senator and the bad dudes
getting information from him through a woman(O'Neil) who's a
lobbyist, and a blackmailer!!

Lee's uncle, who's a colonel in the military, is on the hook for
an accident that happened while his pilots were doing maneuvers
and the pilots all killed!! He's up for a court martial and Lee and
Amanda decide that they are going to help him whether he wants
them to or not!! A
EPISODE 16: LIFE OF THE PARTY(Feb. 18, 1985):
Lee and Amanda are at a party where Lee's there to find some
information!! But before he can get his hands on it, a maid who's
been hired for the party helps herself to the info by breaking into
the safe where the information is being kept!! This gets the team
rolling on to find out who's behind the theft!!

there's a look-a-like out there, and she's not on our side!! And
the next target is Lee!! All set up by a man who's got a personal
vendetta against the agency, and specifically, Lee, who he says
killed his brother!

Amanda's car is having problems and she takes it into the garage
to be fixed!! Lee needs her at the office and helps her get a loaner
car at the impound that was seized when a dude ran the Canada
US border!! After she get the car, Amanda has incredible "bad luck"
which includes the theft of the tires, another accident, someone
stealing the car and losing a muffler by running over her boys
bike!! More to the whole thing than meets the eye!!

The cable network TVLand recently had a promotion weekend
that Scarecrow and Mrs. King was part of. I was so excited to
see a few episodes, but it made me wish that the series was on
DVD even more!
Scarecrow and Mrs. King was a great series about an unsuspecting
housewife who gets pulled into undercover spy work with a reluctant
and then fully accepting spy. It's a little hokey, but great overall. Kate
Jackson plays single mom, Amanda King and Bruce Boxleitner plays
spy, Lee Stetson. The show was really all-inclusive, action, romance
and comedy all in one.
The sexual tension in the 1st two seasons is a little like the dynamic
between Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepard in Moonlighting.- jedriscoll
