SPACE 1999 - SEASON TWO PAGE(1975)

SPACE 1999 - SEASON TWO(1975)

Apparently Space 1999's first season wasn't a huge
hit and in jeopardy of being cancelled! The network
brought in a new face who became the producer and he
killed it for good! He fired Barry Morse(Professor
Victor Bergman), Prentis Hancock(Paul Morrow) and
Clifton Jones(David Kano)!! He brought in what he
thought was the sure fire cure, Cathrine Schell(Myra)
who he thought would be a younger, sexier draw!! HE
WAS WRONG!

EPISODE 1: THE METAMORPH(Oct. 3, 1983)
(Disc 9):

Not a terrible episode, but the fired actors are
sorely missed!

Guest starring a returning Brian Blessed! B-

EPISODE 2: THE EXILES(Oct. 10, 1983)
(Disc 9):

Honestly, this is pretty good! Still miss the old crew! B

EPISODE 3: JOURNEY TO WHERE(Oct. 17, 1983)
(Disc 10):

Another pretty decent episode, in which the new hottie
has next to nothing to do with! A team of the Mooners
take a chance on a scheme that they can be transported
back to Earth! B+

EPISODE # 4: ONE MOMENT OF HUMANITY(Oct. 24, 1983)
(Disc 9):

This is just plain stupid!!! D

EPISODE # 5: BRIAN THE BRAIN(Oct. 31, 1983)
(Disc 11):

Extremely silly episode, until it's not! A roving robot
controlled spacecraft shows up near the Moon, and he kidnaps
Koenig and Russell for reasons unknown!! C+

EPISODE # 6: NEW ADAM AND EVE(Nov. 7, 1983)
(Disc 12):

Sadly, this episode had potential, but fell flat! C

EPISODE # 7: THE MARK OF ARCHANON(Nov. 14, 1983)
(Disc 11):

This is a pretty decent episode! B

EPISODE # 8: THE RULES OF LUTON(Nov. 28, 1983)
(Disc 11):

People on IMDb.com refer to this as a shabby remake of
Star Trek: TOS' episode "Arena"! I've seen all of Star
Trek's episodes through Enterprise, and I do not see a
similarity between this and any of those episodes! "Arena"'s
story was about Kirk having to fight(this is the only similarity)
the captain of a ship that had attacked a Federation outpost!
Anyway, in this living plants rule a world that Koenig and
Maya have gone to to see if it could support their lives
there! The two pick parts of plants and the race is on! B-

EPISODE # 9: ALL THAT GLISTERS(Dec. 5, 1983)
(Disc 10):

LOL Never heard the word "glisters" until this episode!
Anyway, the rocks on a planet need water, and the humans
are 98% of what they need!! C+

EPISODE # 10: THE TAYBOR(Dec. 18, 1983)
(Disc 10):

Very reminscent to the Star Trek: TOS episode "The
Trouble With Tribbles" in that this dude is a trader
and specializes in flim-flam!!! B

EPISODE # 11: SEED OF DISTRUCTION(Jan. 9, 1984)
(Disc 13):

I'm not sure what it is about this episode. It's almost
good, but Methinks they have stolen the idea from Star
Trek: TOS one too many times! This is nothing more than
"Tunabout Intruder" re-done, and not nearly as well, even
that episode wasn't really great!! C

EPISODE # 12: THE AB CRYSALIS(Jan. 16, 1984)
(Disc 12):

Aaaaaand the Moon is now on a heading for a planet
that is sending out shock waves that threaten to
destroy it!! B-

EPISODE # 13: CATACOMBS OF THE MOON(Jan. 30, 1984)
(Disc 12):

A woman has heart problems and the doctor is trying
to come up with an artificial one! C

EPISODE 14: SPACE WARP(Feb. 6, 1984)
(Disc 14):

BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGG!!! C-

EPISODE 15: A MATTER OF BALANCE(Feb. 13, 1984)
(Disc 13):

Better than the last few, this one's about an anti-
matter dude who's trying to cross over to the matter
world, but he needs matter people to do it, and he fools
a young girl into helping him!! B

EPISODE 16: THE BETA CLOUD(Feb. 27, 1984)
(Disc 13):

Not terrible, more of a horror story! The base is
attacked by a "space cloud" that manifests itself as
various monsters!

Guest starring a David Prowse(DUH)!! C

EPISODE 17: THE LAMBDA FACTOR(Mar. 5, 1984)
(Disc 15):

Another "thing" approaches the Moon base and it starts
affecting people's thoughts! B

EPISODE # 18: THE BRINGERS OF WONDER, PART 1(Mar. 19, 1984)
(Disc 14):

Aaaaaannnddd antoher thing is coming toward the Moon base,
but this time the crew think it's an Earth rescue ship! B

EPISODE # 19: THE BRINGERS OF WONDER, PART 2(Mar. 26, 1984)
(Disc 14):

Continued from the previous episode! B

EPISODE # 20: THE SEANCE SPECTRE(Apr. 23, 1984)
(Disc 15):

This was not a joy to watch! Quite a waste of Caroly
Seymore's talents!!

Starring: Carolyn Seymore(Babylon 5 episode "Endgame",
3 episodes of Star Trek: TNG and 2 of Star Trek: VOY!! C-

EPISODE # 21: DORZAK(May 7, 1984)
(Disc 15):

Another story about mind control! These are getting stale!

Martin Landau is not in this at all!

Guest starring: Kathryn Lee Scott(Dark Shadows, Star
Trek: TNG episode "Who Watches The Watchers")! C

EPISODE # 22: DEVIL'S PLANET(Mar. 19, 1984)
(Disc 16):

An interesting enough episode, and one that isn't
just a repeat of itself or other shows! But another
another recurring theme in this is that women have
taken over a dying planet by sending those who are
just trying to suvive get transported down only to
be killed! B

EPISODE # 23: THE IMMUNITY SYNDROME(Mar. 26, 1984)
(Disc 16):

Methinks Gene Roddenberry and the Star Trek crew should have
sued over the use of this title! In that episode part of the
crew beam down to a planet and get infected with an age progession
illness - all except Checkov!! Interestingly, Checkow was played
by Walter Koenig, which is the name of the commander, John
Koenig!!

In this: The crew land on a planet that appears to be able
to support Earthers, but something is just not right!! B

EPISODE # 24: THE DORCONS(Apr. 23, 1984)
(Disc 16):

You would think for the last episode of the series that
they would bring some closure to it! BUT NOOOO! Oh, well!
All we get here is a bunch more screaming and not a very
original story! (think Star Trek: TOS' episode "Spock's
Brain"!)! C

From a reviewer at IMDb.com:

I remember watching this in the 70s on a cold day, and I was
captivated by the spaceships and wanted a model ship but couldn't
afford it and there was no internet to purchase it from.

Anyway, I always wondered about the uniforms. What did they
wear for pyjamas? Or were they wearing pyjamas as an in-joke?
Who were the cooks, the tradies, the IT support, the HR team
in Space: 1999?

I'd love for a reboot of Space:1999 with acclaimed British
actor Danny Dyer. - safenoe
