STARGATE - SG-1 SEASON 1(1997) PAGE

STARGATE - SG-1 SEASON 1(1997)

After the movie did so well, the powers that be decided
what the heck, let's try doing a TV show! They couldn't
get either Kurt Russell or James Spader, so they went
out and got RDA & Michael Shanks(a fairly uknown actor)
to take their places! It was a great choice!! Let's face
it, Richard Deen Anderson was already an icon on TV with
McGyver, and this did nothing but solidify his place as
a TV icon!

Along with them are Amanda Tapping and Christopher Judge
and together(for most of the series) make a wonderful team,
with great stories and very good F/X! This is a great series!

Incedibly hard to do, to follow up the excellent movie with
more excellence, but somehow they did it!

EPISODE 1: CHILDREN OF THE GODS(July 27, 1997):

(BEWARE, THERE IS NUDITY IN THIS FIRST EPISODE!)

This introduces us to the main characters of the
series: Colonel Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson,
Teal'c, Captain Samantha Carter & General George
Hammond! While Jackson, Teal'c and Carter appear in
all the seasons, O'Neill is only in the first 8
seasons! After he departs from the series, they
bring in Ben Browder as Lt. Cameron Mitchell and
Cladia Black as Vala Mal Doran!

Showing up to reprise his role as Skara is Alexis
Cruz!

The story: The "enemy" comes through the Stargate
after the thing has been dormant for a year or so
and the grab a couple of the people at thecompound!
Jack gets re-called to service to head a team back
to the place where they went in the movie, and along
with him is Captain Samantha Carter and several
soldiers! A

EPISODE 2: THE ENEMY WITHIN(Aug. 01, 1997):

The crew discover that Kowalski has a Gsu'ould
in him and try to save his life by operation on
him! Some high-ups want to take control of Teal'c
and come to take him away!! A

EPISODE 3: EMANCIPATION(Aug. 08, 1997):

Carter gets sold to some tribesman on what
appears to be a Mongolian type planet!!

Guest starring: Soon-Tek Oh(The Man With The Golden
Gun, Mulan, Babylon 5 episode "TKO")! A

EPISODE 4: THE BROCA DEVIDE(Aug. 15, 1997):

The group go to a world whre the differences are
as stark as night and day! Literally!! This reminds
me of the Star Trek: TOS episode "The Cloud Minders!"
crossed with "The Immunity Syndrome"!! A

EPISODE 5: THE FIRST COMMANDMENT(Aug. 22, 1997):

SG1 go to a planet where another team, SG9, went
and never returned! The dude heading that team
has let the planet's inhabitants worshiping of
him go to his head!! A

EPISODE 6: COLD LAZARUS(Aug. 29, 1997):

Jack and crew come upon a planet with a bunch of crystals
and Jack gets knocked out! Suddenly there's a duplicate
Jack and he's acting pretty strange!

This is an extremely emotional episode!! A

EPISODE 7: THE NOX(Sept. 12, 1997):
(shown here way out of order on disc 3 episode 12!!

This is definitely a rip off of Star Trek: TOS'
episode "Errand Of Mercy"!!!

Guest starring here is Armen Shimmerman(Star Trek: DS9)!! A

EPISODE 8: BRIEF CANDLE(Sept. 19, 1997):

The crew land on a planet where life is only
1100 days long, and Daniel thinks it's some
kind of virus that perhaps Jack now has!

Guest starring in this are Kim Darby(True Grit, many guest
starring roles on various TV shows) & Michael J. Pollard
(Dick Tracy, Tango & Cash, Bonnie & Clyde)!! A+

EPISODE 9: THOR'S HAMMER(Sept. 26, 1997):

As with "Brief Candle", this episode is presented out of
airing order, being the sixth episode on disc 1, while it
was actually episode 9!

The crew come to a planet looking for allies which
seem to be here! What they run into is Thor(No, not
Chris Helmsworth!) and they discover that there is a
way to separate the host and the symbiot!!!

Guest Starring: THE James Earl Jones)! A

EPISODE 10: THE TORMENT OF TATNALUS(Oct. 03, 1997):

The crew stuble upon the fact that the gate had
been used way back in the 40s! The go to the same
place and find the man who went throught the gate
so many years ago, and with them they take Catherine
with them, the original operator of the gate and his
lover!!!!

This episode has one of the greatest musical pieces
ever made, "Moonlight Serenade"!!

Guest starring Keen Curtis(Cheers, Star Trek: VOY
episode "Sacred Ground")!! A

EPISODE 11: BLOODLINES(Oct. 10, 1997):

So surprise, Teal'c is married, and has a son! And this
is now his time to get his very own Prim'ta, which will
make him a Goa'uld! The crew go to his home planet to
keep this from happening! B

EPISODE 12: FIRE AND WATER(Oct. 17, 1997):

Daniel gets kille on and away mission with the rest of
the SG1 team! They hold a ceremony for him and a wake!
THEN - - - - ! A

EPISODE 13: HATHOR(Oct. 24, 1997):

"Hathor" is a woman who is a Gau'ould and puts all
the men under a spell!! A

EPISODE 14: SINGULARITY(Oct. 31, 1997):

This has some slight nudity in it in the form of a little
girl who has medical problems!

The crew go to a planet to view a black hole eclipse and
find a little girl(Katie Stuart age 12 at the time) who
appears to be the only surviving being from there! This
whole episode revolves around this girl!!

Guest starring Katie Stuart! She is far from famous, but
she does return for a second episode in the second season!
She was also on Arrow, season 7, episode 11 "Past Sins"! A+

EPISODE 15: COR-AI(Jan. 23, 1998):
(Another episode out of order!!)

Teal'c is put on trial for murder on a planet they
are visiting! Turns out, he and other Jaffa had
visited the planet previously and he was ordered
to kill a man! A-

EPISODE 16: ENIGMA(Jan. 30, 1998):

Some survivors of a volcanic onslaught are rescued by the
team and we find out they are very technologically advanced,
if not socially!! The group are trying to find a suitible
place for them, but they seem to nix all of them! A-

EPISODE 17: SOLITUDES(Feb. 06, 1998):

While going back through the Stargate, there's an
accident and the team gets split up with Teal'c and
Daniel making it home and Jack and Sam getting waylaid!! A

EPISODE 18: TIN MAN(Feb. 13, 1998):

The team go to a new planet where they meet up with "Harlan"
who turns them all intorobotic beings!! A-

EPISODE 19: THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD(Feb. 20, 1998):

The short explanation: Daniel becomes Alice!!! A

EPISODE 20: POLITICS(Feb. 27, 1998):

Not a fan of these type of shows where people have to
justify their existance! And that's what this is!

And really this is just a recap episode!! And a set-ip
for the final episode of the season!

Guest stars include Ronny Cox(Star Trek: TNG episodes
"Chain Of Command" Pt. 1 & 2, Beverly Hills Cop I & II,
Spencer, Apple's Way) who is here in his first of 11
episodes!! B-

EPISODE 21: WITHIN THE SERPENT'S GRASP(Mar. 06, 1998):

Continued from the previous episode, although it didn't
say continued!!!!!

The answer was no, so they went anyway! The team, despite
orders from stupid people, go through the gate one last
time to the co-ordinates that Daniel got in this alternate
trip from episode 19, "There But For The Grace Of God"!

This ends in a cliff-hanger, my favorite way of watching
a series @#$%^&* NOT!!@!

Ronny Cox returns!

Last episode of the season! A-

STARGATE SG-1 COSTUME DESIGN

From an IMDb.com customer:

I love this series, and every one of the Stargate
series. I started watching in season 7, but quickly
went back and binged every episode on DVD (netflix
wasn't a thing yet). I now own all of SG1 and SGA.
I've watched every episode of SG1 at least 5 times,
SGA about 3 times, and SGU about twice. I think
I'm pretty much obsessed with this series. - captjack-29256
