THE AVENGERS SERIES 4-6


One of the greatest series to come out in the 60s!

Sadly, these have no closed aptions wich would have been
nice as this is a Brittish show with(for us here in the U.S.)
hard to understand "accents"!

One more thing, these are region 2, which only plays on
computers here in the US!!

SERIES FOUR:
Brittish TV is done in series' intead of seaons, don't know why!!

EPISODE # 1: THE TOWN OF NO RETURN:(Sept. 28, 1965):

Without so much as a how'd you do, Cathy is gone and
we now have Emma Peal! No explanations at all!

As for the episode itself, very Children of the Damnish/
Invasion Of the Body Snatchersish!! Steed and Emma go
to a small town where the population is, at best, sparse!
And several agents have gone missing!! A

EPISODE # 2: THE GRAVEDIGGERS(Oct. 05, 1965):

This starrts out almost exactly like season - ooops - series
three episode 14 Dressed To Kill, but the story is very
different!! But the results are basically the same: Steed
and Peel need to find out what's causing disruptions to
Brittain's early warning system! A

EPISODE # 3: THE CYBERNAUTS(Oct. 12, 1965):

Corporaate big-wigs are being killed off one by one
by what is called a cyborg! The reason for the killings:
trying to take over the electronics market!! A

EPISODE # 4: DEATH AT BARGAIN PRICES(Oct. 19, 1965):

An agent is killed at a department store and Steed and
Peel go there to find out what the agent was killed for! B+

EPISODE # 5: CASTLE DE'ATH(Oct. 26, 1965):

Bagpipes, why'd it have to be bagpipes?!!! Anyway, this
episode has our daunting duo in Scottland investigating
a castle with very strange goings on in and around it!! A

EPISODE # 6: THE MASTERMINDS(Nov. 02, 1965):

A government minister is shot while trying to steal
state secrets by his own men! Steed and Peel are out
to find aut answers!! This is all about mind control B+

EPISODE # 7: THE MURDER MARKET(Nov. 09, 1965):

Steed falls upon a murder for hire business hiding in
the open as a matchmaking operation! A

EPISODE # 8: A SURFIET OF H2O(Nov. 16, 1965):

Drowning in a field?? This brings Steed and Peel to the
area to discover what in the world's going on!! A

EPISODE # 9: THE HOUR THAT NEVER WAS(Nov. 23, 1965):

Suppose they gave a party and nobody came?! This appears to
be the case in this episode wherein Steed is invited to
closing down party for an RAF air base! Steed and Peel
show up to no party and no people!! Quite a mystery this
one!! A

EPISODE # 10: DIAL A DEADLY NUMBER(Nov. 30, 1965):

A new kind of pager has been invented for agents and other
big wigs to get an alert that they are wanted somewhere!
But there wouldn't be an episode if it didn't have a twist
to it, and in this the twist is that someone else has come
up with a device that looks just like the pagers that kill! A

EPISODE # 11: MAN-EATER OF SURREY GREEN(Dec. 07, 1965):

Think Invasion Of The Body Snatchers/Little Shop Of Horrors!
This is one of the first episodes that is quite science
fictionish!!! Very silly really!! A

EPISODE # 12: TWO'S A CROWD(Dec. 14, 1965):

Steed and Peel are tasked with guarding a mysterious Russian
but there appears to already a Steed there!! B

EPISODE # 13: TOO MANY CHRISTMAS TREES(Dec. 21, 1965):

A dream that Steed has been having seems to come to life at
Christmas party! Another story about mind control!! B+

EPISODE # 14: SILENT DUST(Dec 28, 1965):

It appearsthat very potent pesticide is being used in Cornwall
where all kinds of willdlife, including trees and birds, are
dying by the hundreds!! A

EPISODE # 15: ROOM WITHOUT A VIEW(Jan. 04, 1966):

A scientist returns after having disappeared and appears
to be brainwashed and attacks his wife! There are indications
that he might have cracked under pressure and given out state
secrets The other "agents" there are far from helpful!! B+

EPISODE # 16: SMALL GAME FOR BIG HUNTERS(Jan. 11, 1966):

The basis behind this episode are tsetse flys!! B+

EPISODE # 17: THE GIRL FROM AUNTIE(Jan. 18, 1966):

Mrs. Peel gets obscounded with and a replacement is put
in her place! Not a very convincing one at that! People
start dropping like flies!! A lot of tounge-in-cheek
here!!! A

EPISODE # 18: THE THIRTEENTH HOLE(Jan. 25, 1966):

Steed and Emma go golfing to try to stop national secrets
from being stolen!! A

EPISODE # 19: QUICK-QUICK SLOW DEATH(Feb. 01, 1966):

There's something going on at the dance studio(they use
this cover a lot) wherein agents seem to be dropping like
flies!! A

EPISODE # 20: THE DANGER MAKERS(Feb. 08, 1966):

A grooup of VIPs are danger seekers and they've got a big
job planned: steal the Crown Jewels!! A

EPISODE # 21: A TOUCH OF BRIMSTONE(Feb. 15, 1966):

A group calling themselves "Hellfire" are responsible for the
death of a noble! It seems to be a lark, but soon it becomes
considerably more serious with all kinds of debauchery going
on!!! Somewhere toward the end, Emma dons a very revealing
outfit that got this episode banned in the US! B+

EPISODE # 22: WHAT THE BUTLER SAW(Feb. 22, 1966):

Steed is training for a new job, butling! It's all to catch
a leak of top secret government information!! A

THE LAST DISC OF VOLUME 1 OF THIS SET HAS A BAD
SCRATCH ON IT!!

EPISODE # 23: THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT(Mar. 01, 1966):

Emma get's bequithed a house from her uncle Jack! Problem is,
there is no uncle Jack! It all reverts back to the opeing wherein
an escaped convict is seen getting away! Revenge is the name of
the game here! B+

EPISODE # 24: A SENSE OF HISTORY(Mar. 08, 1966):

A good episode that's hard to describe in short! It all is
based around a university and a cult that believes that history
can be altered by just one man!! B+

EPISODE # 25: HOW TO SUCCEED...AT MURDER(Mar. 15, 1966):

There's an oranization that trains girls to kill
businessmen!! Really kinda silly! A-

EPISODE # 26: HONEY FOR THE PRINCE(Mar. 22, 1966):

Last episode of series four, last black and whit episode!
Steed is to try to persuade a prince to give Briton the
oil rights in his country, but there are forces trying to
stop it! Again, Emma wears an interesting outfit!! A

SERIES FIVE:
Brittish TV is done in series' intead of seasons, don't know why!!

With this "series" we go to color!!

EPISODE # 1: FROM VENUS WITH LOVE:(Jan. 09, 1967):

The BVS(British Venusian Society) are dropping like flies!

Guest starring here is Barbara Shelly(Village Of The Damned)!! B

EPISODE # 2: THE FEAR MERCHANTS(Jan. 16, 1967):

A business will help you get ahead by getting the compitition
out! They specialize in either drving businessmen out of their
minds with fear or killing them outright!! A

EPISODE # 3: ESCAPE IN TIME(Jan. 23, 1967):

Qiuite silly really!! Scammers are convincing notorius
criminals that they can send them back in time! Steed and
Peel "go back in time" to find out what's at foot!! B+

EPISODE # 4: THE SEE-THROUGH MAN(Jan. 30, 1967):

An enemy agent buys an invisibility formula and he
appears to be using it to steal secrets! Steed and
Peel are hot on invisible trail!! Silly but cute! A

EPISODE # 5: THE BIRD WHO KNEW TOO MUCH(Feb. 08, 1967):

This one's for the birds! Specifically a parrot that talks
is taught secrets then earmarked for transfer out of town!! A

EPISODE # 6: THE WINGED AVENGER(Feb. 15, 1967):

More birds, more trouble! This one's about a "superhero"
who is anything but!! B+

EPISODE # 7: THE LIVING DEAD(Feb. 22, 1967):

After a derilect thinks he sees a ghost, he is found dead
which brings Steed and Peel in to unravel the whole thing!! A

EPISODE # 8: THE HIDDEN TIGER(Mar. 01, 1967):

Here kitty, kitty, kitty!!! A

EPISODE # 9: THE CORRECT WAY TO KILL(Mar. 08, 1967):

East meets West in this when Steed and Peel have to team up
with their Russian counterparts to find out who's killing
their agents!! A

EPISODE # 10: NEVER, NEVER SAY DIE(Mar. 15, 1967):

A man gets run over and is pronounced dead! Then he walks
away from the hospital! He then gets run over by the same
guy!! A play on Frankenstein!!

Guest starring here is the incomparable Christopher
Lee(He's been in some of the most iconic movies and
TV shows ever: Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars Ep. II,
The Hobbit, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Several
of the 1990s Sherlock Holmes, Several Dracula movies,
The 1960s Fu Manchu movies, and also played The Mummy,
Dr. Jekyll, and Frankenstien's monster!!)! A+

EPISODE # 11: EPIC(Mar. 29, 1967):

The title refers to the fact that a slipping director wants
to make the perfect movie, and use Peel as the focal point!!

Tho the episode could have been better, the ending is quite
humorous(think the final episode of Moonlighting!!)! A

EPISODE # 12: THE SUPERLATIVE SEVEN(Apr. 05, 1967):

Another "10 Little Indians" story!!!

Guest starring here is Brian Blessed(Flash Gordon[1980],
High Road To China!!!) and Donald Sutherland(Kelly's Heroes,
M*S*S*H), The Italian Job[2003], Space Cowboys, Invasion Of The
Body Snatchers[1978])! C

EPISODE # 13: A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE STATION(Apr. 12, 1967):

The Prime Minister is traveling on a train and there's
plot afoot to bunp him off!! B+

EPISODE # 14: SOMETHING NASTY IN THE NURSERY(Apr. 21, 1967):

This is really odd, and not in a fun way! Someone has
figured out a way to make people regress to their childhood
and are using it to steal national secrets!! B

EPISODE # 15: THE JOKER(Apr. 26, 1967):

An escaped con is out after Emma because she helped
put him in prison! It's all about a bridge party!! B+

EPISODE # 16: WHO'S WHO???(May 03, 1967):

Using a mind transferring device, a bad dude has his
mind transferred into Steed!, and a bad dudette into
Emma's! Turns out that their research failed to get
all the important info, such as Steed never calling
Peel Emma!! B+

EPISODE # 1: RETURN OF THE CYBERNAUTS:(Sept. 27, 1967):

Oh, goody, the stupid robots are back, and they're
being programmed to kidnap scientists to re-discover
how to make more!!!

Question: why does a cybernaut with no eyes wear
sunglasses???!!!

Guest starring here is Peter Cushing(Star Wars IV:
A New Hope, The Curse Of Frankentien[1957], Horror
Of Dracula[1958], Sherlock Holmes And The Mask Of<
Death[1984], many other horror movies of the past!)! B

EPISODE # 2: DEATH'S DOOR(Oct. 04, 1967):

A delegate to a peace confrence is having premonitions
before the conference and they come true! He is killed
and his replacement starts having the same kind of
premonitions! Steed and Peel are tasked with taking
care of him! A

EPISODE # 3: THE #50,000 BREAKFAST(Oct. 11, 1967):
(There is no way to make the Brittish pound symbol in the US!)

A group is smuggling diamonds out of England ! B

EPISODE # 4: DEAD MAN'S TREASURE(Oct. 18, 1967):

Steed and Peel are off to the races! Car races to be
exact! An agent has been killed but hid an important
document in a treasure chest that is the prize in a
car race! A

EPISODE # 5: YOU HAVE JUST BEEN MURDERED(Oct. 25, 1967):

A man gets killed, then killed again, and then killed again,
only the last time it's for real! Steed and Peel are on
the hunt! A

EPISODE # 6: THE POSITIVE NEGATIVE MAN(Nov. 01, 1967):

A couple of dudes are using electricity to take over the
world! B

EPISODE # 7: MURDERSVILLE(Nov. 08, 1967):

An old friend of Emma's is retiring and moving to a "quiet"
village where he's heard it's very friendly! What he doesn't
know is that the town is the home of assassins for hire!! A

EPISODE # 8: MISSION... HIGHLY IMPROBABLY(Nov. 15, 1967):

This may be the most silly of all the Avengers' episodes!

A man invents a shrinking ray and one of his assistants uses
it for nafarious purposes!! A

SERIES SEVEN:
Brittish TV is done in series' intead of seaons, don't know why!!

EPISODE # 1: THE FORGET-ME-KNOT:(Sept. 25, 1968):

This is the only episode from "series seven" that is
represented on this set! Also the final episode for
Diana Rigg and first episode for Linda Thorson!

An associate of Steed's is shot with a dart that gives
him amnesia! He finds his way to Steed's home and that
puts him and Mrs. Peel on the hunt, but unfortunately,
the bad guys find him and Emma and shoots them both with
the drun, abscounding with the associate!!!

It was nice that they at least gave Diana a send off
instead of just dropping her from the series! A
