THE CLOSER SEASON 3 PAGE

THE CLOSER SEASON 3

This stars Kyra Sedgewick as a overly hard as nails
Deputy Chief of homicide!! This carries on the mood
from the first two seasons with Kyra still very hard to like!!
But still the other cast members make this palatable!!

EPISODE # 1: HOMEWRECKER(June 18, 2007):

A family is killed by stabbing, all except a son who's found
in the attic!! Also happening, budget cuts in the department
are making things tense in the office! B

EPISODE # 2: GRAVE DOUBT(June 25, 2007):

While excavating an area for construction, a long dead
body is unearthed!! Turns out to be a former gang banger
and there are several suspects!

Another episode that makes me absolutely hate the
lead character!!!!!! C

EPISODE # 3: SAVING FACE(July 2, 2007):

While carrying a casket for a fellow comrade, the casket is
really heavy and the guys carrying it lose their grip and it
falls down some steps, breaks open, and out falls the dead
man - and a woman!!

Guest starring Robert Picardo(Star Trek: Voyager)!! A

EPISODE # 4: RUBY(July 9, 2007):

A young black girl is kidnapped and killed! The crew find the
perp right away, but bungle the interrogation!! This makes
convicting the dude very hard!! A tough episode to watch! A

EPISODE # 5: THE ROUND FILE(July 16, 2007):

An interesting story here: an old man is found pushing around
an older guy who's dead!! He claims to have killed him, along
with six other dudes!! This takes the crew to an old folks
home where the clues, and suspects, are many!! A

EPISODE # 6: DUMB LUCK(July 23, 2007):

A body at a parking lot: the suspects, many! And Johnson is
sick!!! A-

EPISODE # 7: FOUR TO EIGHT(July 30, 2007):

Another one about gang members!! Two bangers are shot in
their own "area", and it looks like retaliation! Seems that this series
can't come up with any other ideas!! Johnson is still sick!! B-

EPISODE # 8: MANHUNT(Aug. 6, 2007):

A woman's nude body is found on the beach, and this appears
to have a tie in with a serial killer from years back!! Johnson is
still dealing with her illness, and she gets some scary news from
her doctor! A

EPISODE # 9: BLINDSIDED(Aug. 13, 2007):

Wow!! This starts out running and never stops!! Brenda is recovering
from the trauma of the last couple of episodes, her parents are
coming to visit, and she gets assigned to drive a reporter around
so he can film first hand how short handed the department is!!
While paroling the city, the group gets attacked, with one of them
getting killed and another badly injured!! No idea who is responsible
for the attack at first, and Brenda's home is assigned a couple of
SWAT team members to watch over the house and the family!!

Guest starring in this as Brenda's father is Barry Corbin(Thorn
Birds, War Games, The Best Little Whore House In Texas, Northern
Exposure)! A

EPISODE # 10: CULTURE SHOCK(Aug. 20, 2007):

A tour bus hostess is killed while showing some high level
Chinese Communists the city! She and her family are all
recent arrivals in this country, and have had to go through
a lot just to get and stay here!!

And Brenda's father and mother are sill visiting her and Fritz!!
And also guest starring here is John Wesley Ship(The Flash[1990],
The Flash[2014-]!! A

EPISODE # 11: LOVER'S LEAP(Aug. 27, 2007):

After having her operation to correct her physical problems,
Johnson and crew go down a cliff to investigate a car crash
in which a Homeland Security Agent was killed!! While down
investigating, Johnson gets into some poison oak which only
adds insult to injury!! A

EPISODE # 12 & 13: 'TIL DEATH DO US PART, PT. 1(Sept. 3, 2007)
& PT. 2(Sept. 10, 2007):

This is actually pretty boring!! There's a trial going on about
a lawyer who drowned and it appears to be murder! The
defendant is a man who was being divorced by his wife
who's using this lawyer for her lawyer!! It does pick up
a bit, but still kinda boring!!

Larry King guest stars in a cameo part in this! B

EPISODE # 14 & 15: NEXT OF KIN, PT. 1 & 2(Dec. 3, 2007):

The house is sold, maybe!! And there's an armor truck robbery
where two of the guards are killed and one is injured!
The leads are few, and the injured guard disappears, but they
capture his brother, who is quite young and scared to talk!!

Brenda's parents are back again, as Fritz and Brenda have
headed to Atlanta to try to catch the dude that got away!! A

From a reviewer at IMDb.com:

This show caught my attention on Netflix because Kyra
Sedgwick is so peculiar in the first season I had to see it
through. Watching her eat her ding dong in episode 1
= the same in season 1's finale, and in conjunction with
her character showing what I consider some dynamic
acting ability in becoming Brenda the flake who may
border on genius in her job lacks in the personal
relations department tremendously.

After 3 seasons though I think it is a good show that
I'm assuming will grow since it ran for as many seasons
as it did. I will likely update this review when I've seen
the whole series as who knows where it might land. If
each season simply plods along where we are I will
downgrade my rating as there is plenty of room for
growth. But how they achieve it will determine that
and I have to experience it to rate it.

So far I think the show is good and has moments of
showing potential for better but will just have to hope
to enjoy the ride as I watch the rest of the seasons
(hopefully!). But if your pondering watching it, do
so, it is what having Amazon Prime worth the money
(getting to watch the prime video movies and shows
for a price competitive with Netflix but higher quality
and more dependable). - scott_weishaar
