THE MENTALIST SEASON 5
This series is about a guy named Patrick Jane(played by
Simon Baker) who use to make his living as a psychic who's
wife and son were killed by a serial killer because he was
trying to help the police find him, using his "psychic" abilities!
Kind of a Phych type show, 'cept very serious, although there
is humor sprinkled around in it! Very interesting premise for
a series and very good!!
EPISODE # 1: THE RED GLASS BEAD(Sept. 30, 2012):
(For whatever reason, the actual title of this episode was
"The Crimson Ticket"!!! Why they changed the name on the
DVD is not explained)!!!
A man and woman are found dead in the woman's house!! Along
side the bodies is a very expensive bottle of champagne! The two worked
together in a hotel! The reasons for the murders become apparent
shortly, and the plot with Loralie and Red John thickens!!

EPISODE # 2: DEVIL'S CHERRY(Oct. 7, 2012):
A diamond cutter is found dead in his home, with several suspects!!
Meanwhile, Jane drinks some tea at the house of the deceased and
passes out! Turns out there was drugs in the tea!! And now he's having
hallucinations, one of them being about his daughter who died several
years ago!!!
Bradley Whitford returns for a very brief, but important,
cameo here!! A
EPISODE # 3: NOT ONE RED CENT(Oct. 14, 2012):
While Jane's getting his boots fixed, there's a robbery across the
street at a bank where an assistant manager is shot and killed for
no apparent reason!! A
EPISODE # 4: BLOOD FEUD(Oct. 21, 2012):
Rigsby, Jane and Lisbon respond to a shooting in which somehow
Rigsby's father is involved!! This put's Rigsby in hot water with internal
affairs as they think that he has more information than he's giving out
about what happened!!
William Forsythe(The Rock, Dick Tracy, The Untouchables[1994])
returns as Rigsby's father! A
EPISODE # 5: RED DAWN - 100th EPISODE(Oct. 28, 2012):
This recounts how Jane got involved with the CID!!

EPISODE # 6: CHERRY PICKED(Nov. 4, 2012):
Jane's searching for the confederate who helped Lorelei escape
from prison!! Meanwhile, the actual case, a security guard is found
shot to death in a sleepy neighborhood!! Also they find a very
suspicious dude hanging around the area, who, when approached,
reveals that his brother and sister have been kidnapped!! A
EPISODE # 7: IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS(Nov. 11, 2012):
This one you see the murder immediately!! Which kinda takes
the mystery out of the whole thing!! Kinda like Columbo!! Although
there are other circumstances that make this an ongoing case!!
One of the guest stars is Paul Wilson, probably most well known for
his role in Cheers, as one of the many patrons that you always see
sitting around the bar!! He was also in Star Trek: Voyager
in the episode "The Void"! Also here is a probably lesser known guy,
Ted McGinley(Love Boat, Happy Days), along with Amir Arison(Blacklist)!! A
EPISODE # 8: RED SAILS IN THE SUNSET(Nov. 18, 2012):
Jane manages to talk Bret Styles into helping him break
Lorelei out of prison, then proceeds to spirit her away to
try and get her to open up about Red John!! Meanwhile,
a homeland security dude has shown up and is poking
around about Jane, Lorelei & Volker!! Very strange to say
the least!!
Returning guest star here is Malcolm McDowell as Bret
Styles! A
EPISODE # 9: BLACK CHERRY(Nov. 25, 2018):
A former gang banger is found beaten to death on a golf course!!
The main clues are a missing really cool car and the fact that he
was working around a bunch of other dudes that have questionable
pasts!! A
EPISODE # 10: PANAMA RED(Dec. 9, 2012):
This one's really messed up and hard to follow!! A man who
is a botanist and specializes in weed gets killed! Leads take the
team to a pot farm and then to a tobacco producing firm!!
Oh, and Summer's back in Cho's life!! A
EPISODE # 11: DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES(Jan. 6, 2013):
This picks up where episode 7 left off! Lisbon is re-opening
the case of the reporter that was killed, and determined to
find out who did it and why!! While doing this, another murder
happens, and of course we see who is responsible!! A
EPISODE # 12: LITTLE RED CORVETTE(Jan. 13, 2013):
And this continues the story! A man is killed in an old warehouse
and a young boy witnesses it! Two months ago, we see, again,
who did it, and we also see that the boy is in jeopardy!! The
body of the man is found in the present, but the boy is still
not accounted for, and Lisbon goes into high gear to prove
that Volker is behind this!! A
EPISODE # 13: THE RED BARN(Jan. 27, 2013)
The crew stumbles upon a bunch of bones in an old barn!!
Looks to be quite a while ago, 20-25 years! Oh, and there's
the infamous Red John symbol on the barn!!
Guest stars include Robert Picardo(Star Trek: Voyager)!! A
EPISODE # 14: RED IN TOOTH AND CLAW(Feb. 17, 2013):
Kinda mix of the show and Bones! A woman is found dead in
a vat of flesh eating worms(a-la Bones)! Turns out she was a
student at a university that had won a big grant to help her
keep up her studies! So many suspects here!
Side story: two fold really! Lisbon has been playing poker with
a bunch of mucky mucks, and Van Pelt has been accepted into
a very prestigeous training program, but the big boss(who's part
of the poker game) says no to the funding! A
EPISODE # 15: RED LACQUER NAIL POLISH(Mar. 3, 2013):
An old, very rich woman is found incinerated to death in her
very strange home!! This has a horde of suspects, but this one
has a pretty good twist at the end!!

Continuing on from episode 12, This starts out with Lorelei
beating the shit out of a woman to get information about her
sister!! There was a camera that recorded the whole scene,
which brings the team in on the case! It also brings in the
Homeland dude!!
Not here, however, is Grace Van Pelt(Amanda Righetti)! A
EPISODE # 17: RED, WHITE AND BLUE(Mar. 17, 2013):
A woman corporal is found dead, throat slit!! She appeared to
have been in a nearby blues bar just before her death!

EPISODE # 18: BEHIND THE RED CURTAIN(Mar. 24, 2013):
An actress falls from the 24 floor of the "Christopher Hotel"
in Sacramento(nope, there's not one!!)! Turns out that she
was a singer who everyone thought was from New York but
in reality was a local!!

EPISODE # 19: RED LETTER DAY(Apr. 14, 2013):
In the small town of Percy, owned by Percy, Percy is found shot
to death with an antique pistol!! Also, Lisbon has lunch with the
man who killed the witness in the previous episode!!
One more thing, some dudes break into Jane's cubby hole at the
office!! A
EPISODE # 20: RED VELVET CUPCAKES(Apr. 21, 2013):
A young woman is killed and the top suspect says he was on a
white water rafting trip!! Jane doesn't think so!!
Bigger plot, but on the side, is that Jane knows that someone
was in his room!!
John O'Herley(Seinfeld, Valley Of The Dolls[TV - 1994])!! A
EPISODE # 21: RED AN ITCHY(Apr. 28, 2013):
J.J. is away on a trip when someone breaks into his house!! He comes
home early and catches them in the act, shooting one and getting
hit himself! He asks Jane to help to find the tupperware box that
is the only thing stolen! Inside the box was evidence on a dirty
CBI agent that only he knows about!
Lisbon gets framed for the whole thing by our favorite double
agent!!! A
EPISODE # 22: RED JOHN'S RULES(May 5, 2013):
Things go full circle with Jane going back to the group that he
traveled with when he was younger because a young woman
gets killed and she was a relative of one of the people that Jane
lived with!! This makes it look like they are getting closer to Red
John!! A

When The Mentalist first premiered, I wasn't too
sure how long a show about a fake psychic would
last...but I'm so happy they never touched it and
let it run as long as it did.
"Cho" has always been my favorite due to the 'stare'
he gives stupid people. :) I'm hoping a spin off follows
that brings Van Pelt & Rigsby back - maybe their
quick cameo in the final show is a hint?? Gotta have
Wylie to bring in that 'virginistic' tech dude vibe...and
there is someone female that I wish could come back,
but can't (no spoilers!). She would've been worth
watching working side by side with Cho.
I'll definitely miss this show and can't wait to see
what everyone's up to throughout the year. - jen_marien
