STAR TREK - DEEP SPACE NINE SEASON 2 PAGE

STAR TREK - DEEP SPACE NINE SEASON 2(1993-1994)

Continuing on from the first season, this has
all cast members from the first season returning
to reprise their roles!

I finally figured out what it is that really bugs
me about this show! It's waaaaaaaaaay too dark!!

EPISODE 1: THE HOMECOMING(Sept. 26, 1993):

Kira gets wind of a possible convict on a Cardassian
planet who was a leader amoungst the Bajoran resistant
fighters, and who was thought dead! This information
came through a woman who gave Quark an earring that
belonged to him!

Also going on here: Jake is going on his first date
and there's a sect of Bajoran's who are intent to
get rid of all alien influences on their planet!

This is continued in the next episode, "The Circle"

This episode has, in order of appearance: Security
Chief Odo, Quark, Rom, Major Kira Nerys, Jake Sisco,
Commander Benjamin Sisko, Chief Miles O'Brien, Lt.
Commander Jadzia Dax, Dr. Julian Bashir & Gul Dukat! A

EPISODE 2: THE CIRCLE(Oct. 3, 1993):

With Kira being re-assigned back on Bajor, Sisko
has to deal with a new liaison in Li and the battle
beween the Federation and the Circle!!

Kira is approached by Vedek Bariel to come and spend
some time with him in his monistary!!

Again, this continues in the next episode!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Jake Sisko, Major Kira, Security
Chief Odo, Lt. Commander Dax, Dr. Bashir, Quark & Vedek
Winn!! A

EPISODE 3: THE SIEGE(Oct. 10, 1993):

The conclusion of the three story arc, this has
most of the human civilians evacuating the station
before the Bajoran ships can get to DS9!! This also
has the crew trying to persuade the Bajoran people
that the Cardassians are the ones behind the whole
mess!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Dr. Bashir, Chief O'Brien, Quark, Rom, Jake
Sisko, Nog, Security Chief Odo, Keiko O'Brien, Molly,
Lt. Commander Dax, Major Kira & Morn!! A

EPISODE 4: INVASIVE PROCEDURES(Oct. 17, 1993):

During an evacuation situation caused by a plasma
storm, DS9 is approached by a ship in distress which
has 4 people, two Klingons, a Trill and a Human who are
set out to take over the space station just so the
Trill can take Dax away from, well, Dax!!

Very reminiceint of STTNG's "The Child"!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Benjamin Sisko, Major Kira Nerys, Lt. Commander Jadzia
Dax, Chief Miles O'Brien, Security Chief Odo, Quark &
Dr. Julian Bashir

This is REALLY dumb!!!! C

EPISODE 5: CARDASSIANS(Oct. 24, 1993):

This one's about a Bajoran who comes aboard the
station with a Cardassian boy, who promptly attacks
Garak!! This turns into a really big issue where
Gul Dukat is attempting to force all of the Cardassian
orphans back to Cardassia!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Garak,
Dr. Bashir, Security Chief Odo, Lt. Commander Dax,
Chief O'Brien, Commander Sisko, Major Kira, Gul Dukat
Quark & Keiko O'Brien! A

EPISODE 6: MELORA(Oct. 31, 1993):

Melora is a Star Fleet ensign from a planet with
a gravitation much lighter than ours and, as such
has great difficulty being mobile on DS9!! She,
however, refuses any help when it is offered, almost
to a level of martyrdom!! Makes liking her quite
difficult! But Bashir seems to find a way to break
through the rough exterior!!

On the side, Quark is having difficulty with an old
"friend" who shows up on DS9 and promptly announces
his intentions to kill Quark!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Bashir,
Lt. Commander Dax, Chief O'Brien, Quark, Commander
Sisko, Rom(seen but not heard) & Security Chief Odo!

And is there anything funnier than a Klingon love
song??? LOL!!

Missing in action here is Kira! No explanation!! A

EPISODE 7: RULES OF AQUISITION(Nov. 7, 1993):

This is all about the Ferengi!! The Grand Nagus
approaches Quark to help with a deal in the Gamma
quadrant, and Quark makes a deal with a new waiter
to be his assistant in the deal, not knowing that
the new waiter has a pretty large secret!!

This has the first mention of the Dominion!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Morn, Odo,
Rom, Quark, Lt. Commander Dax, Commander Sisko,
Major Kira & Dr. Bashir!!

Wallace Shawn(The Princess Bride) returns as Grand
Nagus Zek! A

EPISODE 8: NECESSARY EVIL(Nov. 14, 1993):

Quark is again the center of attention here!!
He makes a deal with a Bajoran woman whose husband
had been killed on DS9 by, well, we don't know
for sure! She wants something left behind in the
shop that they ran on the station, and offers a
handsom reward to Quark for getting it!

This shows the beginnings of Odo becoming the
security officer on DS9!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Odo, Rom, Dr. Bashir, Commander Sisko, Major Kira,
Gul Dukat & Lt. Commander Dax!!

This is really quite good!! A

EPISODE 9: SECOND SIGHT(Nov. 21, 1993):

On the fourth anniversary of Wolf 359, the attack
by the Borg on the Federation, led by Loquitus,
also known as Captain Jean Luc Picard, Commander
Sisko is feeling nostalgic and decides to walk the
station and runs into a young and very mysterious
lady named Fenna/Nidell!! While talking to her,
he turns away and she disappears quite suddenly!

Also going on: a scientist is in the process of
trying to bring a dead star back to life!

Starring, in order of appearance: Jake Sisko, Commander
Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax,
Odo, Dr. Bashir & Quark!

A pretty strange episode, but still good!! A

EPISODE 10: SANCTUARY(Nov. 28, 1993):

Some voyagers from the Gamma quadrant show up in the
Delta quadrant with their ship in distress! After
a few awkward moments with trying to communicate,
it comes to light that they represent a race that's
in jeopordy of being wiped out by another race that
just showed up in their area of the Gamma quadrant!

The second reference to The Dominion happens here!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Major Kira,
Commander Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Morn(he comes as close
as in any episode to talking in this - he sniffles!!),
Quark, Odo, Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Dax, Nog & Jake
Sisko!

Guest starring here is the great William Schallert
(The Patty Duke Show[as Patty's father], Star Trek:
TOS episode "The Trouble With Tribbles", Nancy Drew
[Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries] as Nancy's father!)!!
Also guesting here is Andrew Koenig(Walter's son,
InAlienable)! A

EPISODE 11: RIVALS(Jan. 2, 1994):

A con artist who's been scamming a bunch of
people on the station gets custody of a little
toy that ends up causing headaches for Quark
and his gambling establishment when the dude
takes it and starts his own casino just opposite
of Quark's!!

As the title says, this is about rivals!

Also happening here is O'Brien's obsession with
Dr. Bashir! It seems that he thinks that the good
doctor thinks that he's too good for him, which
can't be further from the truth!!

Another piece of fluff, but kinda fun!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Odo, Dr.
Bashir, Chief O'Brien, Keiko O'Brien, Lt. Commander
Dax, Quark, Rom, Morn, Major Kira & Commander Sisko!!

Guest starring here is K Callan(Lois And Clark: The
New Adventures Of Superman as Martha Kent)!

I would've rated this higher, but the ending is very
unsatisfying!! B+

EPISODE 12: THE ALTERNATE(Jan. 9, 1994):

Odo's "dad" has come aboard DS9 to catch up on
how Odo is adapting to life on the station!
And he's got information that he may know more
about where Odo came from! Odo talks Sisko into
letting him, the doctor & Dax use a runabout to
research a planet in the Gamma section where
things don't go exactly as planned!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Security Chief Odo, Jake Sisko, Commander Sisko,
Lt. Commander Dax, Dr. Bashir, Chief O'Brien &
Major Kira!!

Talk about a weird episode, this is one of the
weirdest!! A-

EPISODE 13: ARMAGGEDDON GAME(Jan. 30, 1994):

While Dr. Bashir and Chief O'Brien are helping two
planets that have been at biological war with
each other are looking to find a way to cure the
illness that has plagued the planets from these
biological weapons O'Brien gets infected with the
virus!! When DS9 is informed of the "accident",
the representitives lie about what happened for
unknown reasons!!

I really didn't like the way that O'Brien was shown
to have such a hatred for Bashir for no reason what-
so-ever!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Bashir,
Chief O'Brien, Major Kira, Commander Sisko, Chief Odo,
Lt. Commander Dax, Keiko O'Brien & Quark!!

The last scene is quite funny!! A-

EPISODE 14: WHISPERS(Feb. 6, 1994):

Miles O'Brien is on a runabout running from, well,
we don't know who!! He's recounting how, when he
returned from a mission in the Gamma quadrant, things
back on DS9 seemed really odd! He was supposed to make
sure that everything was in order for a visit from
a new contact who had very specific details on security
when they arrived on DS9, but everyone seems to be
blocking him from said inspections!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief O'Brien,
Keiko O'Brien, Molly O'Brien, Dr. Bashir, Commander Sisko,
Jake Sisko, Major Kira, Chief Odo & Quark,!!

This was pretty good til the ending! I thought it
lacked something! Not sure what! B+

EPISODE 15: PARADISE(Feb. 13, 1994):

While looking for new planets capable of colonization
near the wormhole, Sisko and O'Brien come upon a
planet with humans on it that up to now was unknown!!
Seems that none of the technological devices work,
and other than that, it's a complete paradise! But
truth is there may be another reason why the group
found on the planet has been stuck there for the
last ten years!

Third epsiode in a row that Miles O'Brien is a central
figure!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Major Kira & Lt. Commander Dax!!

A very disturbing episode!! C

EPISODE 16: SHADOWPLAY(Feb. 20, 1994):

Dax and Odo beam down to a planet while on a routine
survying assignment and run into a mystery that the
local constable asks for help in solving!!

Also going on: Kira is determined to catch Quark doing
something wrong, Vedek Bereil shows up on the station,
and Jake is asked to work with O'Brien in the engineering
department as kind of a preperation of him going into
the Starfleet Academy!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Dax, Security Chief Odo, Quark, Major Kira, Jake Sisko,
Commander Sisko, Chief O'Brien & Dr. Bashir!

This is a wonderful episode!! A+

EPISODE 17: PLAYING GOD(Feb. 27, 1994):

Two main stories, Dax has a possible host that she
is to evaluate!! She seems quite abrupt with the
the candidate! Also, the ship is dealing with Voles,
an animal that seems to like eating electrical wires!

Also, while on a trip to the Gamma quadrant, the
runabout has picked up a hitchhiker that threatens
the station!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Bashir,
Quark, Lt. Commander Dax, Chief O'Brien, Major Kira,
Commander Sisko, Rom(not heard), Morn, Chief Odo & Jake
Sisko!

I found this really boring!!! B-

EPISODE 18: PROFIT AND LOSS(Mar. 20, 1994):

A Cardasian woman comes aboard the station after
having "ship problems", along with two students
that she's teaching polical science to!! Turns out
she's an old flame of Quark's, and she's in a lot of
trouble!!

This shows Garak in a totally different light!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Major Kira,
Lt. Commander Dax, Commander Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Dr.
Bashir, Garak, Chief Odo & Rom(seen but not heard)!!

Guest starring her is Mary Crosby(Daughter of Bing,
Legend Of Zorro, The Ice Pirates, North and South
Book II)! A

EPISODE 19: BLOOD OATH(Mar. 27, 1994):

Three infamous Klingons from the past come aboard
DS9 to look up Curzon Dax to collect on an old
oath that he made with them to get vengeance on
"The Albino", a man who was a leader of depradators
who were raiding Klingon colonies, and who promised
to get revenge and kill the first born children of
the Klingon captains of the ships that stopped him,
which he did!! When they discover that Curzon is
now Jadzia, they free her of that oath, but she
feels a responsibility to carry out her oath!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark, Chief
Odo, Major Kira, Lt. Dax & Commander Sisko!

This has the return of three of the most unforgetable
Klingons from TOS, Kang(played by Michael Ansara), Kor
(John Colicos) and Koloth(William Campbell)!! A

EPISODE 20: THE MAQUIS(Pt. 1)(Apr. 24, 1994):

After departing from DS9, a Cardassian ship
suddenly explodes!! Seems that there are those
on the station, and even in Starfleet, that
still have a hate on for the Cardassians, and
have banded together to form a group called - wait
for it - The Maquis!! And they have sworn to get
rid of them at all costs!

To further complicate the matter, a couple of Cardassian
ships attack a federation merchant vessel inside the
demiliterized zone, and they are promptly attacked
by an unknown Federation ship! It appears that they
all are Hell-bent on starting a war!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Dax, Major Kira, Chief O'Brien, Commander Sisko, Security
Chief Odo, Quark, Gul Dukat & Dr. Bashir!!

Guest starring in this is Bernie Casey(Babylon 5 episodes
"Hunter, Prey" & "Matters Of Honor", Never Say Never
Again, Under Seige, The Martian Chronicles)! A

EPISODE 21: THE MAQUIS(Pt. 2)(May 1, 1994):

Continuing from the previous episode, it now becomes
obvious to Sisko and co. just what's going on here and
it's up to them to stop it!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Major Kira, Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Dax, Chief
O'Brien, Odo & Quark!(This does not include the review)!!

Guest starring here is John Schuck(Star Trek IV: The
Voyage Home, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country,
McMillan And Wife)!!

After spending almost two hours(over the course of two
episodes), this really left me feeling like they couldn't
come up with a definitave ending, so they compromised!
The only real draw back in the episodes!! A-

EPISODE 22: THE WIRE(May 8, 1994):

Garak is acting a bit unusual, even for Garak!!
While arguing with Dr. Bashir, he colapses and
the good doctor takes him to the infirmary where
he discovers a device planted in Garak's head!

This one brings up a new faction called the Obsidian
Order! Also, we learn a lot about Garak here, even
his first name!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Garak, Dr.
Bashir, Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax, Morn, Quark,
Commander Sisko, Chief O'Brien & Chief Odo!!

A McCoyism: I'm a doctor, not a botonist!! A

EPISODE 23: CROSSOVER(May 15, 1994):

Kira and Bashir, while returning through the
wormhole, run into a little trouble and wind
up in an alternate universe!!

This is quite like the episode "Mirror, Mirror"
from TOS, and in fact is a continuation of the
story!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Major Kira,
Dr. Bashir, (AU)Garak, (AU)Chief O'Brien, (AU)Security
Chief Odo, (AU)Quark & (AU)Commander Sisko!! A-

EPISODE 24: THE COLLABORATOR(May 22, 1994):

Vedek Wynn and Vedek Bereil are back on DS9,
Bereil to visit with Kira and Wynn with nothing
but ill intentions!!

Also going on is a Bajoran who was a collaborator
with the Cardassians during the occupation showing
up on DS9 and not getting a very good reception!!
To make matters worse, he has accused Bereil of
also being a collaborator!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Vedek Bereil,
Major Kira, Vedek Wynn, Security Chief Odo, Kia Opaka,
Commander Sisko, Lt. Commander Dax, Quark & Chief O'Brien!! A-

EPISODE 25: TRIBUNAL(June 5, 1994):

An old shipmate of O'Brien's shows up on the station
and unbeknowngst to Miles, he's up to no good!! Miles
goes on a vacation, and while away from the station a
Cardassian ship intercepts him and Keiko and board the
shuttle, promptly arreseting him!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief O'Brien,
Lt. Commander Dax, Major Kira, Commander Sisko, Keiko
O'Brien, Chief Odo & Dr. Bashir. A

EPISODE 26: THE JEM'HADAR(June 12, 1994):

Jake's looking for a science project and the idea
of going to the Gamma quadrant for a survey
mission comes up!! Not exactly what Sisko had in
mind when he suggested it to Jake as he saw it as
a chance for them to get away together for awhile,
but Jake informs him that Nog is going along too!!
Then Quark invites himself along also! So while
they are there, Quark starts getting an allergic
reaction! And then the fun begins, in the manner
of a new advisary: the Jem'Hadar! And we also have
the first mention of the Founders!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Jake Sisko, Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax,
Chief O'Brien, Quark, Morn, Security Chief Odo & Nog. A

This one takes the series in a very dark direction
which, I believe, is why I quit watching it!!!

From an IMDb.com customer:

I just recently bought the DVDs for my son because
we had just finished watching STNG on DVD. I have
tried to get into this show but I just can't. I
don't feel the acting is up to par of STNG. I
actually liked the optimistic, TNG. I am already
tired of the politics of DS9; tired of the
Cardassians, tired of the prophets and tired
of the Ferengi. I can't imagine watching 5 more
seasons with my son! I just may have to relegate
the show to my playroom. However, I miss Picard,
I miss Riker, Data, Geordi, Troi and Dr. Crusher.
That show felt like family. I can't even relate
to this cast. My favorite of the DS9 cast is Dr.
Bashir. He's just such a cutie.

I can see why this show polarized fans. You either
love it or you don't. I'm hoping the seasons get
better (I've read they do)but my enjoyment of this
show pales in comparison to TNG, which did have
dark episodes. They just weren't the primary focus,
thank God. - KittyMurray12
