STAR TREK - DEEP SPACE NINE SEASON 4(1995-1996)
Continuing on from the first three seasons, this has
all cast members from the first season returning
to reprise their roles with the addition of another
new member, Lt. Commander Worf! This season inocuously
introduces a character that becomes of great importance
by season 7, Legat Damar!!
EPISODE 1: THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR(Oct. 2, 1995):
And here we go with the "let's see how dark we can make
this series and keep an audience" line of stories!! If
you can't tell, I hate this, as this is so far away from
Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future that it makes
it almost un-recognizable as Star Trek!! Anyway, enough
for my rant! The episode shows the station going through
excercises to hunt down changlings, as well an inordinately
large number of Klingons on board the station! They have
decided to fight along side the Federation, but they were
never actually invited! Sisko decides to call in
reinforcements - Worf!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Sisko,
Major Kira Nerys, Dr. Julian Bashir, Chief Miles O'Brien,
Security Chief Odo, Quark, Cassidy Yates, Lt. Commander
Jadzia Dax, Garak, Morn, Lt. Commander Worf & Gul Dukat! A
Guest starring is Robert O'Reily as Gowron!
This has a dedication to Gregg Duffy Long(assistant to
Rene Echevarria) & Ronald W. Smith(hair stylist) at the
beginning of the episode! A
EPISODE 2: THE VISITOR(Oct. 9, 1995):
This is about Jake Sisko's life as a writer!! It
starts out as him being quite old and telling of
his life and why he quite writing! He recounts how
his father(Ben) was "killed" and how he dealt with
the whole ordeal!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Jake Sisko, Lt. Commander Dax, Lt. Commander
Kira Nyris, Morn, Nog, Quark, Odo, Worf, Dr. Bashir &
Chief O'Brien!!
A nice respit from the gloom and doom of the series! A
EPISODE 3: HIPPOCRATIC OATH(Oct. 16, 1995):
While on a routing mission, Dr. Bashir and Cheif
O'Brien are shipwrecked on a desolate planet that's
not so desolate after all! They become prisoners of
the Jem'Hadar who want to try to break their addiction
to the drug that the Dominion uses to control them!
On a side note, Worf and Odo are butting heads over
Odo's way of running security!
This shows the really crappy side of O'Brien!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Lt. Commander Worf, Major Kira, Cheif O'Brien, Dr.
Bashir, Odo, Commander Sisko & Lt. Commander Dax!!
EPISODE 4: INDISCRETION(Oct. 23, 1995):
Kira gets wind of a ship that was lost six years ago
and want to go investigate!! Cardassia gets wind of
this and wants to have a representitive of theirs go
with her! Guess who!!
On the side: Ben's relationdship with Cassidy is progressing
along at a pace that may be a little faster than one
of them is comfortable with!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Major Kira
Nerys, Lt. Commander Worf, Securiry Chief Odo, Captain
Benjamin Sisko, Lt. Commander Jadzia Dax, Dr. Julian
Bashir, Quark & Jake Sisko!!
This is actually one of the better episodes of the
series! A
EPISODE 5: REJOINED(Oct. 30, 1995):
A couple of Trills come aboard the station to
use the Defiant for some exploration!! One of
them is well known by Dax, she used to be her
- wait for it - WIFE!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Dax, Morn, Captain Sisko,
Major Kira, Lt. Commander Worf, Security Chief
Odo & Chief O'Brien!
This is a pretty weak episode! B
EPISODE 6: STARSHIP DOWN(Nov. 6, 1995):
While negotiating a trade agreement on the Defiant
the ship is attacked by the Jem'Hadar!! With all
the systems either down or damaged, it's up to
those still able to perform to fix the ship up
enough to get them all back to safety!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Captain Sisko, Lt. Commander Worf, Lt. Commander Dax,
Major Kira Narys, Chief O'Brien, Dr. Bashir & Morn!
After the first few episodes, this is an excellant
rebound!!! A+
EPISODE 7: LITTLE GREEN MEN(Nov. 13, 1995):
Quark finally gets paid from his cousin the
ship that he's owed him for 10 years! Turns
out to be in great shape, and he decides that
Nog needs a classy ride to Earth for his first
day at Starfleet! Only one little bump in the
road - um - sky! They hit a rough patch and end
up on Earth at Rosewell in 1947!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Rom,
Nog, Chief O'Brien, Lt. Commander Worf, Commander
Sisko, Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Dax, Morn, Major
Kira, Jake Sisko, Quark & Security Chief Odo!!
Guest starring is Charles Napier(Rambo First Blood
Pt. 2, Rosewell, Loaded Weapon 1, The Incredible
Hulk TV series)!!
One of the most fun episodes ever of DS9!! A
EPISODE 8: THE SWORD OF KAHLESS(Nov. 20, 1995):
Kor returns here to speak of his knowledge about
the Sword Of Kahless, an honored relic from the
historic past of the Klingon Empire!! And he enlists
the help of Dax and Worf! But before they can get
on their way, he's attcked by a dude that wants to
find the sword himself!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Quark,
Dr. Bashir, Odo, Major Kira, Cheif O'Brien, Lt.
Commander Dax, Lt. Commander Worf & Commander
Sisko!!
Guest starring here is John Colicos(returning
from previous Star Trek episode from both TOS
and DS9, as well as being the main baddy from
Battlestar Galictica[1979])! A
EPISODE 9: OUR MAN BASHIR(Nov. 27, 1995):
Dr. Bashir has a new holo suite program based off
of, you guessed it, Bond, James Bond!!
Meanwhile on DS9, while returning from a mission,
several members of the crew are displaced in the
pattern buffers while they are being beamed from
a sabotaged runabout to DS9 and the computer went
nuts! This of course affects Dr. Bashir's program
in a lot of fun ways by replacing the characters
in his program with those that are in the buffer!!
Starring, in order of appearance: Dr. Bashir,
Garak, Commander Sisko, Chief O'Brien, Lt.
Commander Worf, Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax,
Odo, Quark & Rom!
Another fun episode episode!! A
EPISODE 10: HOMEFRONT(Jan. 1, 1996):
The first case of sabotage on Earth bring several
of the crew of the station back to Earth to try and
help out, including Odo! Of course with Odo in the
picture, things dont go as smothly as they were
hoping!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Dax, Captain Sisko, Quark, Morn, Securit Chief Odo,
Major Kira, Chief O'Brien, Lt. Commander Worf, Jake
Sisko, Dr. Bashir & Nog!
Guest starring here is Brock Peters(Star Trek IV: The
Voyage Home, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) in
his first appearance as Ben Sisko's father! Also here
is Robert Foxworth(The Transformer series of movies, 2
episodes of Babylon 5, 4 episodes of Enterprise, Falcon
Crest)!
Again, I don't like the direction that they took with
this series, and I'm sure Gene is rolling over in his
grave!!
Continues in the next episode! B
EPISODE 11: PARADISE LOST(Jan. 8, 1996):
Continued from the previous episode! With Earth
now under martial law because of the possible
invasion from the Dominion, this just takes us
deeper into the dark abyss that this show became!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander
Sisko, Chief Odo, Jake Sisko, Nog, "Chief O'Brien",
Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax, Dr. Bashir & Lt.
Commander Worf!!
The same guest stars return! B
EPISODE 12: CROSSFIRE(Jan. 29, 1996):
Shakar, now the head of Bajor, is on the station
to negotiate their admittance to the Federation!!
His life has been threatened and security has been
beefed up! This causes some issues as he thinks that
he's falling for Nerys which places Odo in the middle
of all sides of this tale!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief Odo,
Major Kira, Quark, Chief O'Brien, Dr. Bashir, Captain
Sisko, Lt. Commander Dax, Lt. Commander Worf & Rom(seen
but not heard)!! A
EPISODE 13: RETURN TO GRACE(Feb. 5, 1996):
Gul Dukat has been demoted for his "indiscretions"
and relegated to ferrying cargo and once in a while
dignataries! He has been chosen to escort Major Kira
to a conference that she's headed to at the behest of
First Miniser Shakar! The trip gives Dukat and Kira
the chance to get to know each other a lot better!
When they get to their destination, they find the
outpost destroyed! Dukat then decides to attack
a lone Klingon ship that's hanging around the area
but it goes into warp, ignoring them! Dukat, along
with Kira, decide to go out after it!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Major Kira,
Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Worf, Gul Dukat, Lt. Commander
Dax, Captain Sisko, Chief O'Brien & Chief Odo!!
Also here in a recurring role is the character of Legat
Damar who, in the last season, becomes a pivitol part
of the war with the Dominion! A
EPISODE 14: SONS OF MOGH(Feb. 12, 1996):
Worf's brother shows up on DS9 asking Worf to kill
him and bring him back honor(stupid to me)!! On the
side, while on return from a mission, O'Brien and
Kira come accross a mystery concerning Klingons running
military meneuvors, but they think there's more going
on here!(This is actually a stronger plot line)
This one's quite weak to me!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Worf, Lt. Commander Dax, Chief Odo, Chief O'Brien, Major
Kira, Quark, Morn, Captain Sisko & Dr. Bashir!! B+
EPISODE 15: BAR ASSOCIATION(Feb. 19, 1996):
Rom gets sick and heads to the infirmary where he got
the idea to form a union!
Rom gets a new job in this!
Another lesser episode!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Worf, Lt. Commander Dax, Leeta Alexander, Chief O'Brien
Dr. Bashir, Quark, Rom, Morn, Constable Odo, Captain
Sisko & Major Kira! A
EPISODE 16: ACCESSION(Feb. 26, 1996):
Keiko shows up back on DS9, and she's going to have
a baby! And there's trouble with the situation with
Miles adjusting back to married life and losing his
comraderie with Dr. Bashir!
And there's a new Emmisary in town!!
Kai Opaka shows up for the first time since season 1!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Bashir,
Chief O'Brien, Molly O'Brien, Keiko O'Brien, Major Kira,
Captain Sisko, Lt. Commander Dax, Quark, Lt. Commander
Worf, Chief Odo, Kai Opaka & Morn! A-
EPISODE 17: RULES OF ENGAGEMENT(Apr. 8, 1996):
Worf is being charged for destroying a Klingon transport
while in a battle protecting Cardassian medical transport
from Klingon war ships!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander
Worf, Chief Odo, Captain Sisko, Lt. Commander Dax, Quark,
Dr. Bashir, Morn, Chief O'Brien & Major Kira! A-
EPISODE 18: HARD TIME(Apr. 15, 1996):
Chief O'Brien has been in a mental state of incarceration
for espionage for 20 years in the Gamma quadrant! This
causes him to have flashback when he gets back to DS9!
I really didn't like this episode!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief O'Brien,
Major Kira, Captain Sisko, Keiko O'Brien, Dr. Bashir, Molly
O'Brien, Lt. Commander Worf, Jake Sisko, Chief Odo, Quark &
Lt. Commander Dax! C-
EPISODE 19: SHATTERED MIRROR(Apr. 22, 1996):
Alternate dimensional Jennifer Sisko shows up on the
station to ask for help from Jake(of all people) in
fighting the alliance!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief Odo,
Jake Sisko, Quark, Commander Sisko, Major Kira, Chief
O'Brien, Lt. Commander Dax, Dr. Bahir(alternate), Nog
(alternate), Garak(alternate) & Worf(alternate)!
Continuing with the crappy episodes!! B-
EPISODE 20: THE MUSE(Apr. 29, 1996):
Lwaxana Troi is back on DS9 and PREGNANT!! She has
ran away from her husband because he wants to take
her baby and raise it without her!(This is a very
touching story!!)
Also happening, Jake is being seduced by a woman who
is helping him bring out his creative self, but she
has ulterior motives!(This part is dumb)!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Jake Sisko,
Chief Odo, Lwaxana Troi, Captain Sisko, Major Kira,
Lt. Commander Dax, Quark, Lt. Commander Worf, Dr.
Bashir & Chief O'Brien!!
Guest starring here is the always great Michael Ansara
(Better known as Kang the Klingon on not only DS9, but
Voyager and Star Trek TOS! He was also on the Babylon 5
episode "The Geometry Of Shadows" as well as the series'
Buck Rogers, Time Tunnel & Lost In Space)!! A
EPISODE 21: FOR THE CAUSE(May 6, 1996):
There's been some covert actions concerning someone supplying
the Maquis with arms supplies and Kassidy has been accused
of being a possible suspect!!
On the side, Gul Dukat's daughter has caught the eye of
Garak, but Bashir tells him he thinks it's a terrible
idea!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Sisko,
Kassidy Yates, Lt. Commander Dax, Major Kira, Lt. Commander
Worf, Cheif Odo, Dr. Bashir, Garak & Chief O'Brien!
This is a great episode!! A+
EPISODE 22: TO THE DEATH(May 13, 1996):
The Jem'Hadar attack the station and Sisko and crew head
out in the Defiant through the wormhole to hunt them down!!
It appears that the attack was perpetrated by a band of
renegade band of Jem'Hadar! This brings about an uneasy
alliance between Sisko and co. and the Jem'Hadar!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Commander Dax,
Chief O'Brien, Dr. Bashir, Lt. Commander Worf, Commander Sisko,
Quark, Major Kira & Chief Odo!! A-
EPISODE 23: THE QUICKENING(May 20, 1996):
While on a mission to the Gamma quadrant the group on
the Defiant intercept a distress call from a planet that's
in the midst of a terrible plague, and with Bashir as part
of the crew, you just know they'll stick around to find a
cure!
Meanwhile back on DS9, Quark has been busy with advertising,
and it hasn't gone unnoticed!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief O'Brien,
Major Kira, Quark, Chief Odo, Lt. Commander Worf, Dr. Bashir,
Lt. Commander Dax & Captain Sisko!! B
This was directed by Rene Auberjonois!!
EPISODE 24: BODY PARTS(June 10, 1996):
Quark learns that he's dying and proceeds to sell off
his "body parts"! This is really stupid!!
On the side, Keiko O'Brien is getting along in her
pregnancy but still wants to go out and do her botanical
work, which puts her, and the unborn baby, in great risk!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Chief O'Brien,
Lt. Commander Worf, Lt. Commander Dax, Quark, Morn, Rom
Commander Sisko, Major Kira, Dr. Bashir, Keikoo O'Brien,
Garak, Molly O'Brien & Chief Odo!
The part of the story about the baby being transfered
from Keiko to Kira was concocted because of Nana Visitor
actually being pregnant!! A
EPISODE 25: BROKEN LINK(June 17, 1996):
After meeting a lovely young lady in Garak's shop, Odo
suddenly goes into convulsions!!
Also, the Klingon high council is making demands which

Garak, Dr. Bashir,Commander Sisko, Lt. Commander Worf,
Major Kira, Lt. Commander Dax, Chief O'Brien & Quark!
This just takes us deeper into the abbyss that is DS9! B-

From an IMDb.com customer:
I just recently bought the DVDs for my son because
we had just finished watching STNG on DVD. I have
tried to get into this show but I just can't. I
don't feel the acting is up to par of STNG. I
actually liked the optimistic, TNG. I am already
tired of the politics of DS9; tired of the
Cardassians, tired of the prophets and tired
of the Ferengi. I can't imagine watching 5 more
seasons with my son! I just may have to relegate
the show to my playroom. However, I miss Picard,
I miss Riker, Data, Geordi, Troi and Dr. Crusher.
That show felt like family. I can't even relate
to this cast. My favorite of the DS9 cast is Dr.
Bashir. He's just such a cutie.
I can see why this show polarized fans. You either
love it or you don't. I'm hoping the seasons get
better (I've read they do)but my enjoyment of this
show pales in comparison to TNG, which did have
dark episodes. They just weren't the primary focus,
thank God. - KittyMurray12
