STAR TREK - ENTERPRISE SEASON 3 PAGE

STAR TREK - ENTERPISE SEASON 3(2003-2004)

With the all-time worst theme song of any science fiction
show in history, this show starts out with a whimper!

However, though it took me 15 years to watch this series,
I have discovered that it's really pretty good, with several
really great episodes!

Three buts here: this whole season is dedicated to
one storyline! I'm definitely not a fan of this
kind of tactic in a series! STRIKE ONE!; and the
whole storyline is about war! STRIKE TWO!; and how
the Hell did this whole storyline ever happen without
any mention of it during the whole series run of TOS?
STRIKE THREE!!!!; And it is a really bad omen when a
series drops from 26 episodes per season two 24! THE
END IS NEAR!! And this has by far the worst episode
of any incarnation of Star Trek, "Damage", and that
includes the stupid Borg episodes!

With the whole crew returning, round three starts!
And it brings out the very worst of Archer, Trip &
T'Pol!

EPISODE 01: THE XINDI(Sept. 10, 2003):

And so the hunt for, well, the Xindi, has begun! The
Enterprise, whose mission was of exploration and first
contacts to make new friends, is now full of military
personell who are preparing for war again said Xindi!
I'm not a fan of war stories, movies or TV series, and
this is no exception! For the same reason I HATE BORG,
I hate this story line!!

Anyway, the basic story behind this that Archer gets
wind of a Xindi that's on a mining planet, and he wants
to talk to him to get the co-ordinates to the Xindi planet!

Also going on, just barely touched on, is something weird
is happening on the Enterprise! More on this part in the
next episode!

A side story, Trip is having problems sleeping ever since
he found out his sister was killed in the attack on Earth,
and Dr. Phlox has an idea on how to help him, with the
help of T'Pol!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Hoshi
Sato, Commander Charles Tucker III, Dr. Phlox & Ensign
Travis Mayweather!

Guest starring again here is Vaughn Armstrong! A-(because
of the complete unbelievability of the episode)!! B-

EPISODE 2: ANOMALY(Sept. 17, 2003):

Continuing the issues from the previous episode where
the Enterprise is experiencing some pretty weird things
like the metal warping! In the middle of all that, the
Enterprise is attacked and boarded by pirates who
promptly steal almost anything of value, including
their fuel supply and weapons! The proceed to attempt
to follow them and find a huge sphere where they find
most of the stuff, and discover the reason for the
distortions on the Enterprise!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Commander Charles Tucker III, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Ensign Travis Mayweather, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Hoshi
Sato & Dr. Phlox. A-

EPISODE 3: EXTINCTION(Sept. 24, 2003):

Very reminiscent of the Voyager episode "Threshold", where
Janeway and Paris evolve/devolve to very strange beings!

A crew of four go down to a planet that has indications
that the Xindi has been there, and while there they find
a couple of fried dudes! Shortly thereafter all of the
party start to devolve/evolve, except T'Pol!

Like that episode of Voyager, this is nothing more than
horror!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Sub Commander
T'Pol, Commander Charles Tucker III, Captain Jonathan
Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Hoshi Sato Ensign
Travis Mayweather & Dr. Phlox!

Directed by LaVar Burton! D

EPISODE 4: RAJIIN(Oct. 01, 2003):

Makes me wonder if Fujin is coming next!!(LOL)!

Back to the stupid Xindi crap! The captain, Trip
Malcolm go to a "chemist" on a semi-friendly planet
for some element that will help them re-inforce
their ship! Unfortunately for them they get pulled
into a trap by getting involved with a slave woman
who asks for help to get out of servitude! Not a
good idea at all!

And the storyline about Trip and T'Pol continues
with Trip starting to feel uncomfortable with the
set-up because people on the ship are talking about
the two of them! And the captain is having repricussions
from his experience from the previous episode!

All in all, this is another dumb episode! And goodie
goodie, this continues on in subsequent episodes!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Sub Commander
T'Pol, Commander Charles Tucker III, Captain Jonathan
Archer, Dr. Phlox, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Hoshi Sato &
Ensign Travis Mayweather! D

EPISODE 5: IMPULSE(Oct. 08, 2003):

The Enterprise gets a distress signal from a lost
Vulcan ship and go to investigate! What they find is
zombies!!!! The affliction that infects the Vulcans
winds up affecting T'Pol! It's all about addiction!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain
Jonathan Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol, Dr. Phlox,
Commander Charles Tucker III, Ensign Hoshi Sato,
Lt. Malcolm Reed & Ensign Travis Mayweather! B-

EPISODE 6: EXILE(Oct. 15, 2003):

A dude who's in exile because of his abilities is
in communication with Hoshi by telepathy wants her
to meet him where he's at! At the bottom of the whole
thing is that he wants to help the crew find the
weapon that they're looking for, but he wants Hoshi
to stay with him while he tries to help!! There, of
course, are extenuating cercumstances and it soon
becomes obvious what his true motives are!

I really like the character of Hoshi, and this episode
gives her a chance to really stand out! Linda Park does
outstanding in this!

Directed by Roxann Dawson!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Ensign Hoshi
Sato, Captain Jonathan Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Lt. Malcolm Reed, Dr. Phlox, Commander Charles Tucker
III & Ensign Travis Mayweather(seen but not heard)! A

EPISODE 7: THE SHIPMENT(Oct. 22, 2003):

With the information that Hoshi got from the telepath
from the previous episode, the Enterprise seeks out a
refinement complex on a nearby planet! Once there, they
discover that while the inhabitants admit to making the
weapon fuel, they had no idea what it was going to be
used for!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Malcolm
Reed, Sub Commander T'Pol, Captain Jonathan Archer,
Commander Charles Tucker III, Dr. Phlox, Ensign Hoshi
Sato & Travis Mayweather! B-

EPISODE 8: TWILIGHT(Nov. 05, 2003):

Captain Archer has appeared to contracted some parasites
that disrupt his short term memories! He remembers things
that happened before an accident he had, but nothing after!
Think the Drew Barrymore movie 50 First Dates with overtones
of Battlestar Gallactica! And it also is a little like the
TNG episode "The Inner Light"!

The story is related to Archer by T'Pol in what appears
to be their home!

This could have been called "The Episode That Never
Happened"!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Hoshi
Sato, Ensign Travis Mayweather, Dr. Phlox & Commander Charles
Tucker III! B

EPISODE 9: NORTH STAR(Nov. 12, 2003):

What's going on??? We see Archer, T'Pol and Tucker in a
old western town as a man get hung! It seems that the
town is populated by humans, not faxcimeles, but real
humans, that have been on this planet for over two
hundred years! Apparently the local indiginents went
to Earth to get humans to be their slaves! The humans
turned the tables and now they are the ones that run
the planet! And not kindly, either!

Quite a breath of fresh air after all the darkness of
the first 8 episodes!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol, Commander Charles Tucker III,
Ensign Hoshi Sato, Dr. Phlox, Ensign Travis Mayweather &
Lt. Malcolm Reed! B+

EPISODE 10: SIMILITUDE(Nov. 19, 2003):

This starts out with the memorial for Trip! He gets hurt
in an accident in engineering, and Dr. Phlox has a plan
to create a clone and harvest it for tissue to cure Trip!
This of course raises ethical issues as the clone is sentient
but will die in 15 days! However, there is a syrum that may
keep the clone from aging quickly!!

The reason for the accident was when the Enterprise entered
a "neucleonic field" that damaged the ship!

This is REALLY good!!

Three deleted scenes here!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Commander Charles Tucker III, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Ensign Travis Mayweather, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Hoshi
Sato & Dr. Phlox! A+

EPISODE 11: CARPENTER STREET(Nov. 25, 2003):

This starts out with a dude hitting on a hooker, and
taking her out, to remove her blood for the Xindi! This
brings out the time traveller Davies, who sends Archer
and T'Pol back to 2004 Detroit to find out what the
Xindi are doing on Earth in the past!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol & Commander Charles Tucker III!

Ensign Hoshi Sato, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Travis
Mayweather & the doctor are not in this at all!! B+

EPISODE 12: CHOSEN REALM(Jan. 14, 2004):

Near one of the spheres Enterprise runs into a group
that says the revere the spheres as holy! But their
plan is to take over the ship so they can use it on
their mission to destroy what they refer to as "heretics"!

A statement about war and religion and is a horrible
episode!

Some anologies to the TOS episode "Let That Be Your
Last Battlefield"!!

This has one deleted scene on it!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander Charles
Tucker III, Ensign Travis Mayweather, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Captain Jonathan Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Dr. Phlox & Ensign
Hoshi Sato! F

EPISODE 13: PROVING GROUND(Jan. 21, 2004):

After some repreive from the Xandi, we unfortunately are
inundated here again! And we have Andorians too! And they
have said that they are here to help out! The plan, to
grab the Xindi weapon to find out how to defend against
it!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Ensign Hoshi
Sato, Captain Jonathan Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Commander Charles Tucker III, Ensign Travis Mayweather
Lt. Malcolm Reed, No Dr. Phlox in this!!

Guest starring a returning Jeffrey Combs(DS9)! B

EPISODE 14: STRATAGEM(Feb. 04, 2004):

It's three years later, and Archer is on a ship being
attacted by someone, with a Xindi with him! They
have just escaped being in prison for the last three
years! Of course nothing is as it seems, and the whole
things about gaining information through deception!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Dr. Phlox, Commander Charles Tucker III, Sub
Commander T'Pol, Ensign Hoshi Sato, Ensign Travis
Mayweather & Lt. Malcolm Reed! B

EPISODE 15: HARBINGER(Feb. 11, 2004):

Trip is getting close to Corporal Cole and it appears to
be making T'Pol jealous!! Lt. Reed is having difficulties
with having to share responsibilies for security with Major
Hayes! And the ship runs into an anomole that has an escape
pod in it with one occupant! They rescue the pod and find
a dying alien who seems very intent on dying!

Most of this episode is pretty entertaining, if they'd
just leave the damn Xindi out of it!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander Charles
Tucker III, Captain Jonathan Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Dr.
Phlox, Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Travis Mayweather & Ensign
Hoshi Sato!

Guest starring is Thomas Kopchik(guest starring on TNG,
DS9 & Voyager, West Wing & Star Trek XII: Generations)!! A-

EPISODE 16: DOCTOR'S ORDERS(Feb. 18, 2004):

The ship encounters an anomole that, if they go through
it, will kill all the humans, and if they go around it,
will take three weeks! The doctor comes up with a solution-
put the whole crew into stasis and go through, with just
him, T'Pol and Porthos!

While doing his rounds, Dr. Phlox heres and sees things,
and this brings to mind the great Twilight Zone episode
"Nighmare At 20,000 Feet" with the one and only Captain of
the original Enterprise, William Shatner!!

The only McCoyism of the whole Enterprise series,"I'm a
physician, not an engineer" is here!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Phlox
Sub Commander T'Pol, Captain Jonathan Archer, Lt. Malcolm
Reed, Commander Charles Tucker III, Ensign Hoshi Sato &
Ensign Travis Mayweather(seen but not heard)!

"Guest starring" here is the great Danny Kay(he's in a shot
of a movie that the good doctor was watching - The Court Jester)
along with Glynis Johns!

An excellant episode! A+

EPISODE 17: HATCHERY(Feb. 25, 2004):

The crew comes upon a crashed ship on a planet with a
score of what appears to be eggs wating to hatch!! There
are a couple of bodies on the ship and bring them to the
ship for examination! Archer decides to try to repair the
damage that will eventually kill all the hatchlings!

This is a cross between the two TNG episodes "Turnabout
Intruder" & "Obsession"!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Travis
Mayweather, Commander Charles Tucker III, Dr. Phlox & Ensign
Hoshi Sato! B

EPISODE 18: AZATI PRIME(Mar. 03, 2004):

Welp, they've made it to Azati Prime, and send out a shuutle
craft to try to get through the defense grid with Trip and
Mayweather on it! They're mission, to get the information on
the weapon the Xindi have developed!

And again we have the time traveller Daniels in this! This whole
plot line just doesn't make sense! Why take Archer to the
future to try to talk him into not going on the mission
when taking one of the Xindi would solve the whole issue???!!!

Again, this is all about war, and I don't care for it at all!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Sub Commander T'Pol, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Travis
Mayweather, Commander Charles Tucker III, Ensign Hoshi Sato &
Dr. Phlox!

This is continued in the next episode! D-

EPISODE 19: DAMAGE(Apr. 21, 2004):

Archer's back aboard, and the ship is quite in shambles!
There's a ship that shows up and Archer asks for help.
but they are reluctant to help! This makes Archer do
a totally un-Star Trek thing, attack a ship that hasn't
done anything to them!

And T'Pol is still acting strange! Can we say addiction!?

This episode has, in order of appearance: Lt. Malcolm
Reed, Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Travis Mayweather
Commander Charles Tucker III, Captain Jonathan Archer,
Dr. Phlox & Ensign Hoshi Sato!

Guest starring here is Casey Biggs(Star Trek: DS9s Damar)!!

This is beyond stupid! F-

EPISODE 20: THE FORGOTTEN(Apr. 28, 2004):

More war crap!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Commander Charles Tucker III, Sub Commander T'Pol,
Dr. Phlox, Ensign Travis Mayweather, Lt. Malcolm Reed,
& Ensign Hoshi Sato!

Guest starring here is the Captain of the Orville, Seth
McFarlane!! C-(only because of the ending, otherwise
D-)!

EPISODE 21: E2(May 05, 2004):

Another ship runs into itself epsode of Star Trek! While
heading for the conference, Enterprise runs into itself,
or at least it seems that way! The other Enterprise is
from the past 100 years! Archer is warned that if he goes
through a portal, they'll be sent back in the past!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Sub Commander
T'Pol, Commander Charles Tucker III, Lt. Malcolm Reed,
Captain Jonathan Archer, Ensign Travis Mayweather, Ensign
Hoshi Sato & Dr. Phlox!

Two deleted scenes here!

While this is way beyond belief, it's a great respit
from the previous episodes!! A-

EPISODE 22: THE COUNCIL(May 11, 2004):

There's a lot of soul searching in this, and the final
outcome is still very much up in the air!! It all is
going to hinge on the meeting with the council!

More war crap!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Dr. Phlox, Sub
Commander T'Pol, Commander Charles Tucker III, Captain
Jonathan Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Ensign Travis
Mayweather & Ensign Hoshi Sato! FFF----

EPISODE 23: COUNTDOWN(May 19, 2004):

With Hoshi, the Reptillians plan to get the codes they
need to activate the weapon!

More war shit!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Ensign Hoshi
Sato, Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Travis Mayweather,
Commander Charles Tucker III, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Captain
Jonathan Archer & Dr. Phlox! FF--

EPISODE 24: ZERO HOUR(May 26, 2004):

The Mellenium Falcon is taking on the Death Star!

OK, seriously, the ending of this stupid arc, thank god!!
The Entreprise, along with their new found friends, are
determined to stop the Reptillians, and, of course, by
this point, their friends have been shown that they can't
trust the Reptillians any more! On the other hand, the
Reptillians are just as determined to destroy Earth!

Hopefully this will be the last we see of this kind of
story telling!!!

This episode has, in order of appearance: Captain Jonathan
Archer, Lt. Malcolm Reed, Commander Charles Tucker III
Sub Commander T'Pol, Ensign Travis Mayweather, Dr. Phlox
& Ensign Hoshi Sato!

Jeffrey Combs returns as Shran!

This ends with a really big OMG!!!! And not a good one! FFFF------

From an IMDb.com customer:

Many people have stated what they feel is wrong
with this series. I think I just might have the
answer: the show has no sense of the fantastic.
Remember Kirk and the doomsday machine? Picard
meeting himself from 6 hours in the future? The
Enterprise meeting a giant space amoeba? The idea
now seems to be 'if it isn't within current scientific
journals we don't do it'. Berman must accept the
blame for this. ST:TNG was a super show, and DS9
started out that way. As soon as Roddenberry was
gone - poof! Berman decided to turn DS9 into a space
war series, and to have the starship Voyager get
it's butt kicked every week. This is Star Trek - we
need heroes to boldly go 'out there'. This was the
idea for 'Enterprise'...then, guess what? The
Xindi - and ANOTHER space war! Look, when I want
that I'll pop in my 'Battlestar Galactica' dvds.
Make 'Star Trek' 'Star Trek' again - you have a
great cast...now give them great 'Star Trek'
stories! - Moondog-6
