STAR TREK: THE NEW VOYAGES:
BLOOD AND FIRE PT. 1(2008)
Pt. 1 has a dedication to the great Majel Barrett!!
Many changes starting with this episode, the least
of which is not a new Mr. Spock!! Ben Tolpin does
a fair job as Spock, but he is definitely not as good
as Jeffrey Quinn!
The Enterprise comes across the Copernicus, which
is on a course to be destroyed by a star! While
researching what would cause the captain to
do such an act, a survey party becomes endangered
by an infestation of blood worms!!
This also has a lot of hororishness(is that a word?)
to it, which I really don't like!!
This unfortunately doesn't have the added help
of having a seasoned actor among the cast
in this, and it really shows! John Kelley is really
overacting in this. There is also the very forced
love story about Kirk's nephew(who is played by a
very bad actor named Bobby Rice)and his groom to
be!! Totally unnecessary and tends to overtake the
whole episode!!!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Ensign Chekov,
Captain James T. Kirk, Commander Spock, Dr. Leonard
McCoy, Lt. Uhura, Lt. Montgomery Scott, Lt. DeSalle &
Yoman Rand!
No Lt. Sulu! B
From an IMDb.com customer:
What I did not like was the pacing of it. I think
it is okay to incorporate gay characters, but their
scenes dragged endlessly and did not really serve
the story. Without these scenes this would probably
not have been a two parter, but one fast episode
and that would have been a damn good show. The
effects were pretty good, I especially liked the phaser
shots and the creature effects. The acting was not
that good. I wonder why they use Andy Bray so little.
He is probably the best actor of the bunch. The jokes
were good, the Bullseyejoke and the Sulujoke. The
action was good, and the story. So far, the episodes
have become better and better with each outing.
A few more and we have a pretty good show. - TAEMO

Pretty much continues on from the previous episode,
with Kirk and crew trying to figure out how to get
out of the whole Regulan bloodworm problem!
And to top it off, the Klingons have arrived and are
demanding that the Copernicus be destroyed!
John Kelly is still overacting here!
And there is way too much swearing here!
This is a little better than Pt. 1, with the main focus
on the actual mission rather than the relationship between
the young Kirk and his love!
This episode has, in order of appearance: Commander Spock,
Captain James T. Kirk, Lt. Montgomery Scott, Dr. Leonard,
McCoy, Lt. DeSalle, Lt. Uhura,Yoman Rand & Ensign Chekov!
Still no Lt. Sulu!
Guest starring here is Denise Crosby(Lt. Tasha Yar in
in Star Trek: The Next Generation, playing Dr. Yar here!)! B+
