SUPERBOY(1988) SEASON 4
First things first, there are no English subtitles in this!!!! BOOOOOOO!!!!
The second season sees a few changes, one major one!! Superboy
is just not himself!!! LOL!! They kicked off John Haymes Newton and
replaced him with Gerald Christopher!! Also gone is T.J. White(Perry's
nephew played by Jaime Calvert, and photographer for the newpaper)!!
I'll have to watch these as I don't know how this turn of events
helped/hurt the show!!
EPISODES 1: A CHANGE OF HEART(PART 1)(Oct. 06, 1991):
Three things going on: The psycho Toommy Puck is released from
prison; Lana is infatuated with a very rich but also psycho dude!;
people are suddenly going nuts!!!
Bill Mumy returns as the phycho Tommy Puck! C+
EPISODE 2: A CHANGE OF HEART(PART 2)(Oct. 13, 1991):
Continued from the previous episode! C
EPISODE 3: THE KRIPTONITE KID(Oct. 20, 1991):
A scientist is looking for a cure for kryptonit when and
explosion turns him into - wait for it - THE KRIPTONITE KID!! B-
EPISODE 4: THE BASEMENT(Oct. 27, 1991):
Lana gets possed by an alien!! C+
EPISODE 5: DARLA GOES BALLISTIC(Nov. 03, 1991):
This is surprisingly much better than expected since it had
Luthor in it! It's Darla that makes the episode here! She still
can't act, but she's better than Lex, and in this one she drinks
an elixer that Luthor concocted which makes her very smart!! B
EPISODE 6: PARANOIA(PART 2)(Nov. 10, 1991):
A couple of stories going on here: there appears to be aliens
running around town; the office is under scrutiny by the higher
ups because of possible breach of security!!
This stars THE Lois Lane, Noel Neil and THE Jimmy Olsen, Jack
Clark!!! A+
EPISODE 7: KNOW THINE ENEMY(PART 1)(Nov. 17, 1991):
Back to Luthor! Oh, yippy!! Lex is going to destroy the world,
nothing new!!
I can't express who much I hated this episode!! F---
EPISODE 8: KNOW THINE ENEMY(PART 2)(Nov. 24, 1991):
Continued from the previous episode!! F--
EPISODE 9: HELL BREAKS LOOSE(Dec. 01, 1991):
It's interesting how this show goes the route of bad episode
then good episode! This one is quite fun(might have something to
do with the fact that Lex is not in it!) and worth the price of
admission!! B+
EPISODE 10: INTO THE MYSTERY(Dec. 08, 1991):
Kinda silly really, with Superboy tying to fight death! C+
EPISODE 11: TO BE HUMAN(PART 1)(Jan. 19, 1992):
Bizzaro loses his love and decides he doesn't want to live!
A doctor tries to help his mental outlook by doing a test on
him using Superboy! Meanwhile Chaos is trying to destoy Superboy
and since he's been weakened by the test he's vulnerable! B-
EPISODE 12: TO BE HUMAN(PART 2)(Jan. 19, 1992):
Continued from the previous episode! It turns out that Bizzaro
is the reason for Superboy's weaknesses, and he has to make a
decision on whether to stay human or revert back and give
Superboy back his powers! B
EPISODE 13: WEST OF ALPHA CENTAURI(Jan. 19, 1992):
Superboy and Lana get kidnapped by spaceship and it turns out
that he's supposed to be the "chocn one", the dude that's going
to save the rest of the guys in the spaceship!!! B-
EPISODE 14: THREESOME(PART 1)(Jan. 26, 1992):
A psycho psyciatrist tries to team up Metallo and Luther for
reasons totally unknown!!! B-
EPISODE 15: THREESOME(PART 2)(Feb. 09, 1992):
Continued from previous episode! B-
EPISODE 16: OUT OF LUCK(Feb. 16, 1992):
A small time hood robs a coin store!! Amoungst the coins
he stole is one that's supposed to have a curse on it! B-
EPISODE 17: WHO IS SUPERBOY?(Feb. 16, 1991):
Another Lex Luthor story! Throw in Bizzaro, a story about
discrediting Superboy as he has no past! Nothing more than
a re-cap of the series up to this poiint!! B-
EPISODE 18: CAT AND MOUSE(Feb. 23, 1991):
Clark's job gets eliminated, but he can get a promotion IF
he goes to a shrink!! Another re-cap episode!!
Guest starring Erin Gray(Buck Rogers, STC episodes "Lolani" &
"Embracing The Winds"), Stuart Whitman(Cimeron Strip)!! B
EPISODE 19: OBITUARY FOR A SUPERHERO(Apr. 06, 1991):
And another re-cap, wrapped around a death of Superboy story!
Done as a news story!
This was going to be the last episode of the series, with a
movie to come later to wrap up the story, but powers that be
for the DC superhero line said "no" so they changed the ending
of this to get rid of the cliffhanger ending!
Bill Mumy returns!!! B-
EPISODE 20: METAMORPHOSIS(Apr. 13, 1991):
People are dying of old age at the ripe old age of 20-25!
Guest starring here is a returning Roddy Pipper!! B
EPISODE 21: RITES OF PASSAGE(PART 1)(May 04, 1991):
Superboy is losing control of his powers!
Also going on is that Clark's boss has been called back into
the field to re-open a case of a meteor that landed in Kansas,
Smallville Kansas!!
Guest starring Stuart Whitman(Cimeron Strip)!! B+
EPISODE 22: RITES OF PASSAGE(PART 2)(Apr. 27, 1991):
Continued from the previous episode! Last episode of
the series!!
It's disappointing that they didn't call in the actors
that had previously beenn in the show, such as T.J. White
(Jamie Calvert), Jack Larson & Noel Neill!! B-
THERE ARE NO SPECIALS IN THIS SET!!
From another reviewer at IMDb.com:
the flash was a pretty good adaptation of the
comic books and it really is a shame that it got
canceled so fast . the acting was pretty good
and the characters were pretty close to their
paper counterparts. all in all a decent show
and a better adaptation of a comic book into
a series than any other so far ( that includes
the not too bad but too girlie adaptation of
superboy in WB's smallville ) - ruthven1974
