Supergirl: The Complete First Season
Even though they take a lot of liberties with the Supergirl lore,
this is non-the-less a pretty good series, at least so far! You
just need to forget about comic consistency!!
This has several almost well known guest stars in it, including:
the first Supergirl, Helen Slater(the movie Supergirl), the third
TV Superman/boy, Dean Cain(Lois And Clark: The New Adventures
Of Superman), Grant Gustin(The Flash), Lynda Carter(Wonder Woman),
Eddie McClintock(Warehouse 13, Bones), Julie Chen(Big Brother) &
Sharon Osborn(mmmm, Ozzie's wife)!
By the fourth episode, it becomes apparent that this isn't a
very good show! It's a VERY, VERY GOOD SHOW!!
EPISODES 1: PILOT(Oct. 26, 2015):
A few variations on the real origin story of Kara(Linda Danvers/
Supergirl)! In this one, Kara is sent to Earth just after Kal-El is sent
to "protect" him!(Not the truth, she was part of a whole city that
survived the explosion of Krypton and since it was encased in
a bubble the inhabitants survived!! Kara was eventually sent to
Earth by her parents because the city's base was being eroded
and the inhabitants were dying off from Green Kryptonite!!)
Superman comes along after she lands here and takes her to
the Danvers to be "adopted", as they had helped him hone his
powers here after he got here!(Again, not true: she wandered to
the Danville ophanage and was adopted by the Danvers!! Also,
the Danvers had nothing to do with Superman/ Clark Kent!!)!
Also, one more biggie, JIMMIE OLSEN IS BLACK!! And now to
the story, Kara finally decides to show herself as a plane
carrying her stepsister is crashing!! Her sister isn't happy with
Kara coming out with her super powers and really shows it!!
This takes a lesson from Arrow in that instead of Supergirl being
an excepted hero, she's being branded as an alien that's too
dangerous to let run around loose! Not only that, but half the
Krytonian convicts, which include several who were not from
Krypton, are now on Earth, and one of their biggest targets is
Kara because her mother sent a lot of them to prison!! And of
course the prison landed on Earth!! A
EPISODE 2: STRONGER TOGETHER(Nov. 2, 2015):
While Supergirl decides to go small for awhile, stopping robbers,
helping ambulances and even "kittens", there's a really bad faction
out there and they're out after Kara!! Oh, and while setting a trap
for an alien, Kara's sister gets grabbed and held hostage to get to
Supergirl!! A
EPISODE 3: FIGHT OR FLIGHT(Nov. 9, 2015):
A dude named Reactron(named by Jimmy Olsen) is in town and
causing much trouble!! This is a guy who Superman has fought over
the years!! He kidnaps a major dude to fix up some of his problems
and Supergirl goes out to save him! A
EPISODE 4: HOW DOES SHE DOE IT?(Nov. 16, 2015):
It appears that Maxwell Smart- um- Lord is out after Supergirl! He
developed a device that was used as a bomb to destroy a lab for his
company!! And another device, a drone, was also developed by said Lord!!
Side story, Kara's boss wins an award and needs a babysitter for
her son who's very intelligent and apparently smitten with Supergirl!
And, Jimmy's got girl problems, mainly that a former girlfriend of
his(Lucy Lane) is in town trying to patch things up with him!! A
EPISODE 5: LIVEWIRE(Nov. 23, 2015):
The girls' mother is in town, and Alex is beside herself with concern!
And there's a woman who has a radio show that rips Supergirl apart!!
She's employed by Cat Grant, who immediately demotes her to traffic
helicopter duty, which she hates heights!! There's an electric storm
that hits the copter, and Supergirl saves the day, but the reporter
ends up getting hit by the lightning and it turns her into "Livewire"!!
Her powers: she draws from electricity from many sources and is
able to project it, can move like lightning, and basically is a bad ass!! A
EPISODE 6: RED FACED(Nov. 30, 2015):
Mother and father issues, as well as government!! Supergirl has
been ordered to combat a robot named Red Tornado, which is
being overseen by Lucy's father, General Lane!! Of course Red is
well known as a team member of the JSA & JLA!! Not sure where
this is headed!! And Lucy is still in the picture, even though Kara isn't
real happy about it!! Oh, and Cat Grant's mother is in town much
to the pain of Cat!!
General Lane is shown pretty much as he was portrayed in the
comics, but Lucy is nothing like she was!! Just an observance!! A
EPISODE 7: HUMAN FOR A DAY(Dec. 7, 2015):
As expected, Kara loses her powers after her fight with Red
Tornado! This leads to Kara having to live life as a human!! And
right off the bat you can tell that there's gong to be trouble with
a particular alien(Jemm, who is also known in the DC universe as
a super hero who worked with J'onn J'onnz and the JLA) who's
in custody!! A
EPISODE 8: HOSTILE TAKEOVER(Dec. 14, 2015):
So, good old auntie Astra is back!! I really think this is a very bad
story line! And she's got a plan to begin the end of Earth as we know
it!! Also going on, there's been a major hack of Cat's e-mails which
seems about to doom her as the CEO of her company!! A
EPISODE 9: BLOOD BONDS(Jan. 4, 2015):
So, with the director taken hostage, Lucy takes over the agency!
Unfortunately, this is very short lived, as General Lane comes along
with an order putting him in charge! This has grave consequences!!
Meanwhile, Cat's made an ultimatum to Kara that she prove that
she's not Supergirl, or she's fired!! A
EPISODE 10: CHILDISH THINGS(Jan. 18, 2016):
The crew are trying to find a way to find out what Maxwell is up
to!! And the side story is Winn's father is back in circulation!!
This is bad, because his dad is known as The Toyman, and he's
not a nice guy!! A
EPISODE 11: STRANGE VISITOR FROM ANOTHER PLANET(Jan. 25, 2016):
A senator who is not just against aliens on Earth, she is bigoted
beyond belief!! Think Donald Trump's attitude toward anyone
who's not a WASP!! Anyway, there's an alien attending a rally
where she's given a speech, and he attacks her and her entourage!!
This turns out to be from the same alien race that attacked J'onn
J'onnz' planet!! And on a lighter side, Kara took it upon herself to
finish a letter that Cat had started to her son but then thrown
away - at Kara!! He shows up, and things don't exactly go smoothly!! A
EPISODE 12: BIZARRO(Feb. 1, 2016):
Anyone who has read the DC comics knows of Bizarro!! Welp,
here's her introduction to this series!! She shows up looking
just like Kara, but of course as we all know, she does just the
opposite of what Supergirl does!! And another big deviation from
lore, she's been created by Maxwell Lord!! A side story here, Cat's
son has a thing for Kara and they go out on a date together!!
I suppose it could be because this was a creation, rather than
a true carbon copy of Kara, she can breath fire!!! Never a power
of Kryptonians!!!! A
EPISODE 13: FOR THE GIRL WHO HAS EVERYTHING(Feb. 8, 2016):
Kara discovers an unusual item in her apartment, and suddenly
it's attached itself to her and she is unconscious and having dreams
of old Krypton!! A
EPISODE 14: TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY(Feb. 22, 2016):
With Cat being upset with Kara, she has hired another assistant
for her, and Kara is now assistant #2!! This is of course a little
disheartening to say the least!! And there's a new alien in town
who's really nasty!! And there's another one to boot called The
Master Jailer!! A
EPISODE 15: SOLITUDE(Feb. 29, 2016):
Kara is harboring a lot of anger for J'onn, of course
unnecessarily!! And there's still a lot of tension in the
office between Kara and the new assistant! And the
new assistant, she's doing things that could very well
destroy a lot of people!! And there's a new alien(what
else), who takes control of the internet, and is out to
disrupt everything!!
We get a first glimpse of The Fortress Of Solitude!!
The relationship between Jimmy and Lucy is really dumb in
this!! A
EPISODE 16: FALLING(Mar. 14, 2016):
Supergirl encounters red Kryptonite for the first time and
it does the exact same thing that happened to Superboy in
the Superboy series from the 80s!! She becomes very, um,
confident, aloof, and basically a bitch!! They even use the
same premise here, it's created in Maxwell's lab!!
Guest stars include the crew from The Talk(Julie Chen, Sara
Gilbert, Sharon Osborn ect.)! A
EPISODE 17: MANHUNTER(Mar. 21, 2016):
So the witch hunt begins!! There's an inquiry into J'onn J'onnz
and how he got to where he is, what he knows, and what "his
kind" are planning for Earth!!
And we have a new alien here, one that I pegged two episodes
ago!!!!
Guest stars include Dean Cain & Eddie McClintock!! A
EPISODE 18: WORLD'S FINEST(Mar. 28, 2016):
The name of a long running comic, for the most part starring
Batman and Superman!!
Carrying on from the previous episode, Siobann is trying to
figure herself out!! And Cat is giving love life with Kara!! Fortunately
Flash happens to be in town searching for another meta human,
which just happens to be the one and same Siobann!!!
In this, and I suppose in the other series, Supergirl is in another
dimension than the other series, which is NOT the way the comics
are/were!!!!!!! Why the Hell they did this is way beyond me!!
Guest starring Grant Gustin!! A
EPISODE 19: MYRIAD(Apr. 11, 2016):
So the attack has begun!! And the only three that don't seem to
be affected are Kara, Maxwell & Cat!! And it appears that perhaps
Max is the only one who can stop the whole thing!! A
EPISODE 20: BETTER ANGELS(Apr. 18, 2016):
After their last plan has been defeated, Non and his new found
love, Indigo, have decided to kill everyone on Earth!! J'onn gets
released to help out Supergirl to defeat them, but is it in time!!!
While a good ending, it's a little incomplete, and there's several
loose ends!! And especially the fact that we have a new arrival
from Krypton!! A

Season 1 was quite good and held well to the superhero genre.
Season 2 started well but drifted deeply into interpersonal
drama. Season 3 started the way season 2 ended, with less emphasis
on the superhero and deeply into character emotions/relationships
and social issues. These are important discussions, to be sure,
but I watch superhero shows to see action and fun, not for deep
emotion or for a critical societal expose.
Frankly I don't care who's straight, gay, engaged, in love,
depressed, happy or psychotic unless it directly relates to
the villain:heroine story line. Supergirl has, seemingly,
fallen to influences (pressures?) far from the original
