THE PATRIOT(1986)
In the set: 100 Greatest Cult Classics

This has not only someone from Star Trek: TOS -
Michael J. Pollard(TOS episode "Miri"); but also
someone from Babylon 5: Jeff Conoway(Zach Allan)!
Add to that the great Leslie Neilson and, along
with the two dudes from my two favorite Sci-Fi
TV shows, I had high hopes for this!

Well the skinny is that Neilson does great in
this(though in a short role) as does both Pollard
(also pretty short) and Conoway(who is a pretty
major player here)! No surprises there! It's the
rest of the cast, more specifically, the women!
They are all trying way too hard! The lead,
Gregg Henry, does pretty good, but he too,
tries a little too hard! Finally, the plot
is pretty hard to believe, but it is entertaining!
If they just would have left out the back story! B-

I payed to see this in the theater when it came
out. My friend that went with me still hasn't
forgiven me. For years after that this movie
was our metric for measuring bad movies, as
in "Man, that movie stunk almost as bad as
The Patriot".

The only part of this movie I remember is
when the good guy is storming an abandoned,
rusty, offshore oil rig where the bad guys
are, and he knocks one of the bad guys into
the water. The bad guy sinks, but his M16
rifle floats...

I followed up the viewing of this movie
with Sky Pirates about a week later. After
that stinker ("man that was almost worse
than The Patriot") my roommate stopped
listening to my suggestions for movies
