THE TERMINATOR(1984)
I couldn't remember why it was that I found this
movie as not being an "A" movie, but watching it
again after many years I finally put my finger on
it! Terrible acting!!!! And surprisingly not by
Arnie! No, the two main actors here are stiff,
monotoned, and basically really boring!!!
Arnold actually is the second best actor in this!
The first is, of course, Paul Winfield! The premise
for this is really good sci-fi fare, the settings are
superb, the special effects, for the most part,
excellent, especially considering the year it was
made! And the music worked well with the movie!
If they'd just gotten better actors for the leads!
This does have one of the most iconic lines ever
uttered in film history: "I'll be back!"! And of
course he was, and next the time he was the
good guy! B
From IMDb.com:
The Terminator is very much a thinker's movie.
The plot is that in the future there is a war between
humanity and machines. The machines send back
a cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to 1984 to kill
a waitress named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton)
who will give birth to the future leader of the human
resistance John Connor. Humanity sends a soldier
named Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) to protect Sarah
from the terminator. But Kyle is only human and
therefore not as powerful. It has good action scenes
but it's also very much a thinker's movie. It brings
up questions like "Are we going to destroy ourselves?"
and "Will technology outgrow humanity?" It brings up
these questions which I seem to think about to this
day. The best part of the movie is the police station
shootout, where Schwarzenegger says the famous
line, "I'll be back." Go see it. - ofpsmith

From Amazon.com:
Terminator 2 is the best Arnold Movie so far in my
opinion. His robotic acting becomes actually his greatest
asset in this film. I am a great fan of Arnold and his
one liners. The special effects are very nice. Its best
to leave your brains behind if you are a nit picker.
The movie leaves you wanting more. If they had
released 3 more Terminator movies year after year.
They all would have been super hits compared to
the actual ones released many years later. You have
to give it to Linda Hamilton for doing an excellent
job in the film. All in all this is a great film to see.
I would have loved to see a little more of war in
the beginning. - logiyogi

Not as good as the last one, but still not a bad flick!
While there are no returning actors except Arnie, the
replacements do a fine job here, except perhaps the
T-X! It's a little hard to take a very attractive young
lady seriously as a Terminator! Still she tries though
not nearly as good as Robert Patrick was in the last
one! B+
From IMDb.com:
The first 'Terminator' was basically a sci-fi slasher flick.
Dark, relentless and scary. The second one was more
cerebral and polished, trading terror for white-knuckle
action. 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' is merely
a generic summer popcorn movie. The script is thin,
recycling old ideas without any of the careful craft
that Cameron originally put into them. Also missing
is the crucial relationship building that gave the first
two films their heart.
Arnold returns, looking remarkable for a man in his
late 50s, but his Terminator here lacks the cold menace
of the original or the sly wit of his 'T2' counterpart. Nick
Stahl is surprisingly effective as John Conner, but his
character is unfortunately underwritten. "Heroine"
Claire Danes mostly just screams and villain Kristianna
Loken is nothing but eye candy as the eye-rollingly
named Terminatrix.
Though it breezes by at a fast clip, 'Rise of the Machines'
is a weak and uninspired successor to the two legendary
originals. - Fluke_Skywalker
