TOPPER(1937)

For 1937, the special effects in this are spectacular!! And
with Cary Grant this couldn't be anything but a hit! Such a
great movie and while not laugh-out-loud funny, it keeps a
smile on your face! You can certainly tell where they got
the idea to have Leo G. Carrol take the role of Topper, as
he and Roland Young look very similar! A-

A review from IMDb.com:

Hysterical movie, great characters, and watch for ghosts
carrying Roland Young through lobby of hotel. Plenty of
social commentary -- totally politically incorrect. My
all-time favorite comedy. - STD

TOPPER TAKES A TRIP(1938)

This has a ton of flashbacks from the previous movie,
Topper! It's because they couldn't get Cary Grant for
this movie so they used the flashbacks! Again, the SFX
are great for this age of a movie! Basic story is about
the Topper's are getting a divorce and Marion decides to
step in to stop it! Not nearly as good as the first, this
really looses something without Cary!! B

A review from IMDb.com:

Topper Returns is the funniest old movie I have
ever seen. I have seen it several times, and each
and every time it has kept me in stitches. Topper
Returns is a murder mystery/comedy, that will keep
you in suspense until the end. Joan Blondell is
at her best in this one, and Billie Burke will
keep you in stitches as the ditzy Mrs.
Topper. - jmcsparin

someone in the house doesn't want the daughter here!
In a case of mistaken identity, her friend gets killed

to try to get help! It turns out that Topper is the
only one who can see the girl's ghost! A
