5 movies starring the great Vincent Price!
SHOCK(1946):
monster/horror movie, but a crime movie, where
Price plays a two-timing psychiatrist who gets
observed killing his wife! The woman who witnessed
the murder goes into a catatonic state, and is
sent to a psychiatrist, and guess which one she
ends up with! A pretty good movie! B+
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
Tom Cruise might hold this film up as evidence
on the evils of Psychiatry.
Vincent Price murders his wife, and this is
witnessed by a woman (Anabel Shaw) waiting on
her husband (Frank Latimore) to return from a
POW Camp. She lapses into catatonia and Price
is called to help. He realizes what she may have
seen and whisks her off to his sanitarium to
see what she knows.
The film also features Lynn Bari, second only
to Betty Grable in WWII pin-up popularity according
to a GI's poll taken at the time, as the lover
of Vincent Price and his collaborator in the
abuse of Shaw.
Ending was a little far fetched, but Price was
great in his pre-horror days. - lastliberal

This may well be the best Vincent Price movie
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
This is the kind of old movie I grew up watching,
and I just wanted to see if it held up at all.
I thought it actually worked quite well, and at
only a little more than an hour, it was a quick
watch with little filler. The plot had interesting
twists and was fairly tight. Black and white was
also perfect for this "blast from the past".
It's really more properly labeled as "Suspense"
or "Thriller", rather than "Horror", so don't let
the supposed genre turn you away. It's also quite
tame by modern standards as far as any gruesome
effects and such, but still manages to pack a
greater emotional punch than a lot of modern
movies with blood and guts flying everywhere.
I'd say, slow down a bit every now and then,
and try a true old classic like this one. They're
fun and make a nice change of pace. - carbuff

Another mystery movie, bordering on horror
This also has the great Agness Moorehead(Bewitched)
in it playing a mystery writer who moves to the
old mansion that the bank owner owns for some
rest and relaxation while working on her newest
novel! She is great in this, as is Vincent! The
supporting cast is quite good also! Well worth a
watch or two!
While the previous movie is still perhaps Price's
best movie, this one gives it a run for it's money!! A
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
This movie is your typical mystery movie,
with suspense and horror in it. "The Bat"
has great actors, including Vincent Price
and Agnes Moorehead, who are just excellent
at their roles, and really bring the sense
of horror to the film, which it(is) what the
audience is looking for. The movie has a
great mystery plot, but also a lot of
suspenseful scenes.
This is a great film, i recommend it, if
you like scary movies! - kynolan97

Apparently this movie, which was based on
This is almost a great movie. Unfortunately,
the supporting cast is quite laking here. Price
does a good job, but the story line falls short,
especially in the end! I don't know how the book
goes, but the ending here just seems to make the
whole movie not worth watching! But, it is Vincent
Price, and this is probably the best incarnation
of I Am Legend out there! B
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
I first watched this film as a teenager, and
have never forgotten the impact it made upon me.
It was, and still is, truly scary, and without
a lot of gore. The fact that the film is in black
and white accentuates the bleakness of the main
character's situation. Vincent Price as Robert
Morgan gives a truly remarkable performance, and
you can really feel his solitude and isolation.
The atmosphere is one of dread and loneliness.
It is indeed a truly great low-budget film,
and one to be watched with the lights off
and alone. - crimscout

Well, this is a western with Vincent Price in
This movie, unfortunately, has neither, and it
is your standard western, reminder of the "spahgetti"
westerns starring Clint Eastwood! Price is good,
but definately not in his element here! The lead
gal is ok, as is the lead baddy, but overall, this
is just another western that I'll never watch again! B-
From a reviewer from IMDb.com:
Almost a word for word re-make of "Yellow Sky",
with a setting on another continent. No better
than the original, but still worth seeing. A
pleasure seeing Vincent Price in something not
dealing with the walking dead or some ghostly
mansion: he shone as the grizzled old
prospector, Oupa. - helpless_dancer
