WALL STREET SET
WALL STREE(1987):
This movie was far ahead of it's time when made, as it foretold
the coming stock market debacle that was to come! It was very
well done, with fantastic actors(Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen
and his father, Martin, Hal Holbrook, and Darryl Hanna!)! All do
a superb job here, and although it is pretty dated by this time(2015)
this is still a movie, once you start, you just can't quit watching!
Just a side note here, the actor playing Ollie is Josh Mostel, the
son of Zero Mostel! He is not Stephen Furst(Vir on Babylon 5), nor
is he the actor that plays Newman on Seinfeld(Wayne Knight)! He
does, however look a lot like both those actors!
The making of special feature on this disc is interesting to watch
as it brings together most of the main actors(Martin and Charlie
Sheen and Michael Douglas) and the director(Oliver Stone) discussing
the process of making this movie!
Even with it's dated issues, this is a great movie!! B+
From an IMDb.com customer:
Oliver Stone's Wall Street is a very interesting, entertaining,
and very well acted movie about a young stockbroker named
Bud Fox(played by Charlie Sheen) who is trying to be the best
stockbroker in New York while working for his banking firm
during the daytime hours, and then ends up working for the
greedy stockbroker named Gordon Gekko (played by Michael
Douglas) who takes him in and goes by his philosophy which
are the most famous words in the movie "Greed is good", and
at first Bud thinks that he is doing what a stockbroker and
doesn't believe that he is doing anything bad even if his
father Carl (played by Martin Sheen) is telling him that Gekko
is trying to manipulate him into doing these unlawful. Stone
uses a great supporting cast for this movie (besides Martin
Sheen) but it also consists of Daryl Hannahas Bud's girlfriend
Darien, Hal Holbrook as Bud's former boss, and Terence
Stamp as Larry Wildman who is a good friend of the Fox
family. This movie is a true must see for people who like
corporate business dramas, or for people who like movies
in general. One of the best movies of 1987. - jgrivero

While not quite as good as the first movie, this is
non-the-less very well done! It has Michael Douglas
returning in his role of Gordon Gekko, just getting
released from prison(watch the previous movie for
the reason) and he is determined to make up with
his daughter(Carrie Mulligan) who is now involved
with another Wall Street trader(Shia LaBeouf)!
With several twists in this, and even a cameo by
the great Charlie Sheen, it makes for an enjoyable
watch!
There is a short "making of" special feature on the
disc that has the main actors discussing Gordon
Gekko! B+
From an IMDb.com customer:
I just wanted to write a review simply because I see
that 99% of the reviews about this movie are negative?
How on God's Green Earth is that possible? Whatever
people want to say about this movie, it's not a freakin
1 out of 10, that's a total blasphemy.
It's entertaining, great plot, solid acting, a twist, only
the ending was somewhat disappointing.
That's it.
Other than that, it's a 7 or at worst, a 6.5.
It's definitely worth seeing 2-3 times. Go check it out
if you haven't already. - mailofthefuture
